You’re correct, Scott. It is a wonderful hobby. It has me living life again. My husband passed just over 3 years ago. After I took care of business and then donated tons of things, I started watching your channel and others. I started going back to estate sales (my husband and I both loved to do that) and last November I opened up a little booth at an antique/vintage store across the street from the famous Mission Inn hotel in Riverside, CA. I have learned so much in the past year that even my friends are impressed. LoL I pick up books on glass from all decades and having the best time. Thanks so much for your knowledge and all your fun videos. You are truly appreciated.
I’ve been to that antiques mall across from The Mission Inn many times! Wonderful story about your finding your way to opening a shop there. You go girl.
@@evelynhill-enriquez3438 oh, thank you so very much, Evelyn! It’s work but it’s fun work. Maybe I will see you there some day. My booth is in the lower level in front of a gigantic antique mirrored wardrobe. 😁
Obviously no one in the family wanted the wedding photo or it wouldn’t have been in a thrift shop. I have wonderful old photos that will go in the trash when I’m gone because my kids won’t want them. That’s just how it goes. Thanks for another informative video.
My stepdad played Frankenstein with my great grandmother's china closet and buffet. He also took the doors off of the china cabinet. When I inherited it, my husband and I separated the two pieces and purchased some old turned legs for the china. Unfortunately, he also "antiqued" it in that awful 70s fashion. I had to paint it, after repairing the holes and reattached the doors, and I got to enjoy it for many years!
What a beautiful Wedding Photograph along with that frame it's wonderful. The enameled console bowl was also stunning Scott! Thanks for all your knowledge!
What a great carnival glass score Scott! I've always loved the great examples Dugan made in amethyst! Although known especially for their peach opal carnival sometimes it's the amethyst and white pieces that are the show stopper such as this Question Mark Compote! These were in production from 1928-1931 per Butler Brothers Catalog! Thanks for taking us along on a great day of Thrifting!!!
Beautiful finds Scott! I’m so glad you were able to reunite the cheese and cracker set! By the way those book ends and statue on the phonograph are stunning! 🇨🇦👏🇨🇦
One of your best finds IMO is that loooovely enameled dish. I think that may be Wisteria opposed to Weeping Willow. Ask David to identify your black glass bowl, what with his huge black glass book, he'd probably enjoy looking. Thanks for taking us shopping.
Nice Score on the 💕MacBeth Evans 💕 I love Monax glass it’s so beautiful when held up to the light…it was such a unique depression glass to the usual colored or clear glass
I know it sounds weird but I do buy old photos of unknown people. I love the history behind the fashion, the shoes and the pose. I enjoy looking at them from my couch. They are displayed in old photo frames too.
love that bowl with enamel., lotus image and weeping willow,, I think it looks like it would be full of black beluga caviar LOLL is very pretty! Any thunderstorms your area.! Hope spelled all of that correctly You look perky and handsome this evening.
In the 60s we had a plaque in our house that said I’m the boss in this house and I have my wife’s permission to say so. No one was offended. It was just funny.😊
Scott, you have the content makings of a game show. Scott here, with Today’s ‘Seated Selections’. Now, which item is the most valuable ‘windshield winner’? Betty Lou, you got it! Come on down and pick up those keys to your brand new 58’ Edsel. LOL.
That black painted candy dish is marvelous. I'd buy that. You found some finds. I gave my sister some of her gifts last night. She said, "What do I do to deserve such good things." I said, "scott helps me find them."
There used to be a factory in Reading PA that made cast iron decorative items like the placques you looked at, my 1st cousin worked there & I have Kant that are Amish themed.
I always enjoy your shopping videos, Scott, but this one's intro made me laugh out loud, literally. Thanks, I really needed that. Fabulous finds! Please keep the enameled bowl and use it for All Sorts. It would look so pretty, and I know that you like licorice. Good luck with your live sale tonight.
I used to do genealogy and searched pretty hard for pictures of ancestors- found plenty for my family but my husband’s ancestors … almost no pictures but I have been contacted by people and sent electronic copies of pictures and sometimes I have bought pictures from treasure hunters. Many times people sent pictures with names on the back to family members so two generations later the family doesn’t know who they are nor who to give them to.
I need to buy one of those metal trivet things with the sparky sayings. My mom had it in her kitchen. She was born in Phila in 1930. I live in NC but can you tell me what store that was? My son lives in Phoenixville. Thanks! I watch all your videos. Learning so much
I like watching your thrift tours. I'm learning a lot. Tthank you. I found 6 platinum glasses, but I'm not sure who made them. However, they stacked them on top of each other, and seran wrapped them. Of course, one was broken when I opened them.... Uurrr.
@@oldcuriosityshop265 Oh dear. I'm quite embarrassed. You actually said, "South Jersey, North Jersey--whole different way to talk." Way to talk ... win-d-sock"-- they kind of blend together. And I guess my brain threw in the word windsock because Jersey Shore. In unrelated news, I had two college roomies from New Jersey. I visited several times. Back to the main news desk: The clip of "way to talk" versus "windsock" starts at 11:00.
I think that piece may not be Heisey...the 90 degree angle on the handle is sharper than the one on the Heisey. The Heisey angle is slightly rounded--or at least that's how it appeared to me when you were showing the pieces to us.
What a shame that someone did that to that beautiful buffet! I looked for a long time for a vintage buffet and finally found one. At another antique store, I found a gorgeous huge mirror to go with it! Covers it from end to end and matches perfectly!
BTW.. what I figured out with my old amber madrid vs. the repro crystal is that the newer stuff is slightly thicker and the embossing and the points are slightly more dull. But I didn't have any of that knowledge when I was in the store excited that I found plates and bowls.
Hi Scott, what is the statuette that you have sitting on your phonograph? It’s quite striking. Also, do you know of anyone who would be interested in phonograph records? I am getting rid of my Victoria console (not in the best physical shape, but has a rebuilt reproducer with wonderful sound - not orthophonic) and many 78s. I also have some long play 78s and really don’t want to drop them off to a donation center. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you for allowing me to accompany you on your thrifting trips - I do so enjoy them.
I cannot for the life of me work out what the official name of the shape on the bottom of class that looks like a starburst. It seems to be on older glass.... I'm not sure if I see it on new or not????
Well, listen, you have to put them in the context of their era and realize that times have changed for the better. I purchased a wedding album at a flea market and was able to give it back to the owner.
I have entire wall full of big framed old pics. Have no idea who they are, but love them.
Don’t worry about talking over the music. That squeaky wheel is loud enough!
Hahaha
Fun shopping trip, Scott!

😊😊there are some gorgeous colours in the Heisey ranges
I love your 1920s bowel with the decorative edging; so pretty. I have not seen one like it so I think it should definitely be a keeper.
You are so nice to the pieces you look at even if you don't buy it. You always touch it gently.😊
I agree with you about the wedding photo. It's beautiful, tho. I wouldn't do any research. I would just adopt them as my new relatives 😊 🤭 👰🤵♂

I looked at that same buffet monstrosity and laughed at it on Saturday.
Wasn't that so sad!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Scott! Many years ago I lived in Mays Landing and worked in Somers Point. Love south jersey!
Oooooh that cheese and cracker set!! 💓 fantastic!
I love the lady bookends by the radio!
I didn’t recognize anyone in the photo! lol. You bought it so it belongs to you!
Thanks for the video
The enamel footed bowl could be a weeping wisteria as it is painted purple colour ?!

I would habe bought the insence burner even with the chipped head.🙂
The weeping willow is also a motif on late 1700's - 1800's gravestones.
Indeed!

never saw a cheese and craker set like that
I’d be worried that the price sticker would pull the gold off the little pitcher.
Stay tuned and you’ll see if it did or not. 🤗

Hi Scott!!!

Thanks for explaining the glass with the reference book and do we get to see the red white and blue in your cabinet before July 4 th.
❤😊
Hey at 15:38 you missed a snack, a candy or coughdrop underneath your buffet you were showing us. lol
