The thing I love about these guys is the fact that they rarely play riffs on the open bottom string. They save the low notes for the big parts of the song like the chorus or breakdown and it makes them sound massive. I can't think of many other bands that do this consistently, and it really sets them apart.
Tesseract haven't written an open low string riff since the first album and nobody seems to be pointing it out which is weird to me.
Within The Ruins does a cool thing as well imo where most riffs are rooted on the second fret of the low string, so when they really go hard with a riff they can go lower to the open note
Especially love it in Sunflower when the breakdown hits and how the singer doesn't scream till then. The way they build up the tension in a song is amazing
Most djent bands do the same thing lol
@@goobingtons that's the point
@@tarkenton3895 4th fret*
the whole song is perfect, but 1:07 is just a LIFE CHANGING riff
João :D
r i p p s
ainda assim, aquele riff de abertura da Reptile, my god.
Maybe a cover incoming ?;DD
1:07 is what keeps me from covering it :D
these instrumentals be hittin DIFFERENT
felt the same about the reptile playthrough. the instrumentals get wayyy overshadowed by the vox, which is honestly a shame. would appreciate an instrumental version of the album.
@@Sanzen well guess what man? You got your wish! It's dropping May 1st
total blast.. come to brazil plese. i pay all charge
0:52 one of the catchiest riffs i heard, and that stop in the middle, makes it perfect
The fact that camera starts to shake at 02:42 somehow makes that section even more enjoyable.
YOU NEED TO RELEASE AN INSTRUMENTAL ALBUM 🤯
Luke Honeysett no
@@musicalstan_6612 Sorry, who are you?
Luke Honeysett no need to apologise. I’m just a person who thinks instrumental bands are fucking awful and I’d hate the idea of an instrumental album
musicalstan _ sucks to be you right now because they’re releasing one this Friday 😊
Luke Honeysett This Friday 😉
These guys just keep getting better. The more fire they produce, the more I have on repeat.
where we go when we die playthrough!!!!!
Yuhyuhyuhyuh
Instrumental versions make you appreciate the songs even more. Although I love the vocals and lyrics, sometimes the instrumentals get lost behind them, and these videos prove just how great you are. Love it.
Give me lily & the moon!!

Love that swirl Ibanez
I love these videos so much, it gives you a new perspective on the songs and you start to nitice all these tiny details that you didn't know they were there before
its nice to watch these because i can properly see the skill and precision that goes into the song
Without a doubt one of my favorite bands. The sheer amount of atmosphere they pack into their mixes is amazing to me
okay this song is AWESOME as an instrumental. Goes so hard, love how gritty the guitars sound here too
The lead in that chorus is something else man I love it!!!!
Always love watching this. Can’t wait for new godly music from you guys
Breath of life into a genre I had abandoned. What a band!!
Definitely in my TOP 3 favourite metal bands since their insane last album !
So different and much more original and creative than everything that has been done in metalcore & djent before !
I love these videos. It really makes you appreciate all the little things and the hard work that goes into the songs that you don't really notice with the vocals.
Like ur name
You in unbelievable?
The guitar work, the guitars, the deftones shirt, there isn't one bad thing to say about these guys. Keep doing it! 🤘🤘🤘

Thornhill is the best band vies from the sun is an instant classic of 2019 and the dark pool is my all time favorite album of 2019.
Masterpiece
Killin' it boys!
The breakdown hits you like when a shark starts spinning in place to rip off a chunk of its prey I think it's the best way to describe it
1:38 and 2:42...Oh how I love that low tuning
That blue swirl guitar looks fucking AMAZING
I wanna see some bass playthroughs
Great!
I like finding bands a little later, cause now I've got like 2 albums and an EP to dig into. This song sounds fuckin huge at times, it's amazing

This is spectacular and I completely enjoyed it, if not more than the original, please make Lily & the Moon too!
Deftones shirt. Like, what else do they need? Killer album, killer guitars, killer band. In my highlights of 2019, even if it's not coming from a genre I listen to generally.
Love watching a 6-string and a 7-string getting along peacefully.
🖤🖤🖤🖤
O unico defeito desse video é que ele acaba!
This shit was something different man holy shit. 100/10
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This song's sick
❤️💪❤️ genialne
Do Coven next, pleeease
These guitars are so awesome. Both seem to have a lot of customization on them
Am I the only one listening to this 10x a day, every day?! 👀
2:43 doom vibes
my favourite part of the whole song!
Didnt even realize that the esp LDT guitar have slightly angled frets. Pretty nice ergonomic.
Btw badass riff. I love it
Супер ! ! !
That Ibanez is beautiful
I remember some years ago Ethan ( guitarist on the right ) did a guitar cover of Northlane's impulse here on RUclips. Love all the influences on this badBoi song
I love your username haha
Did this video get deleted? I swear I remember asking him what he asks for at the barber. Only just realised who I was talking to.
@@SamTonkin Yeaah man! I remember that comment! I think indeed he has deleted the video sadly
@Thornhill Matt and Ethan, you guys are mad talented together! Please for the love of God, come to Omaha Nebraska. I am one of you biggest fans!! Dark pool is unreal!!!!!!! I have all my friends looking into you. 🤘🏼
1:20 just melted my face
OMG. This is second best guitar parties in the world after Thornhill - Reptulile
nice song
I honestly would like to hear the songs in dark pool as a remastered - maybe with more clarity in the guitars like this version. Could be nice
Northlane comment section brought me here. Dude on the left with that Deftones tee.my favorite band of all time. Hello new music
Sick, just absolutely Fucking Sick!
This was that good nasty music
I didn't know you could have a 6 & 7 string on the same song. Pretty cool instrumental!
There are a number of bands that do stuff like that. Periphery will have their members split between 6, 7, and 8 string guitars. After the Burial has several songs where their lead guitarist will switch to a 7 string, but their rhythm guitarist (before his untimely passing) would stay on an 8 string, or even switch to a 9. Dir En Grey is an example of a band that consistently has one player on a 6 string and the other on a 7 string.
Usually, the idea is that they each have the same lowest available note, but the player with more strings will have additional strings available for soloing.
BelugaTheHutt Periphery use 6, 7, and 8 strings, but all 3 members will use the same number of strings for the respective song (ie everyone uses 6 strings for The Bad Thing, but 8 strings for Stranger Things).
Yeah, i had never seen two different guitar stringing in the same song.
@@BelugaTheHutt Don't you mean the player with less strings does the soloing? I thought the extra string was for the rythm guitar, to have a lower note. The lead strings are the same right?
@@wofmanpt18 Yea. That boi dumb doesn't know what he's talking about. One band that has 2 different guitars on every song is Archspire. Dean always plays an 8 string and Tobi always plays a 7 string.
Thornhill = the best thing I heard since Tool's Lateralus. Bloody well done guys. You earned new fan in Poland
Ohh good prog !!
What is the pickup used on ibanez
