  • In this video I show you the differences between shears from the factory and a done up pair of shears. I also explain why some of these adjustments are important for effective blade shearing.

Thanks Allan. It great to see how innovative and much safer for the shearer the second shears are.

Thanks for the info. I'm new to the game and have cheap pair of shears that have a slightly rounded edge, definitely not a knife edge. Do I need to give them an extended 'sharpening' with a stone? Or use some kind of a file? Thank you.
    Regards.

I would suggest grinding the shears to make a thinner sharpening bevel. I have a video about grinding your shears that might help

@@allantheshearer Thanks for the reply. No electricity at my place so the grinder's not an option but I've got a good idea from your video what I need to achieve. I'm using a couple of files instead, before the stoning.
Excuse me repeating the obvious: so the stoning bevel is separate to the 'slant/bevel' on the outside of the shears? I was trying to create one bevel with the files- before I watched your grinding video- a lot of filing and still don't have a sharp edge. The smaller bevel will help!
It's been a question in my head since I've started using shears- what kind of a bevel or edge do shears have. Finally found out!

Friend, I have some new Burgon Ando Ball sheep shears but they are uncomfortable, you should make a video tutorial on how to make them like yours, open them wider and put a hasp and a hand strap on them, I would be more than happy if you could show me let's do it, greetings ✌️@@allantheshearer
