This is still one of the best bicycle tool videos Ive ever seen on youtube Ive been planning on making one of these for a couple years and think I may finally do it this up coming weekend. hopefully i can find all the part easy enough.
I bought a set of Chinese carbon clinchers in August & immediately upgraded to SwissStop pads. The last few weeks I noticed that the pads had become very shiny & lumpy looking where they contacted the rim. The last time I had the wheels out I sanded down the brake pads surface to remove embedded debris & resin/laminate buildup. The pads work good as new & even bite in the rain. This level of maintenance is paramount for rider safety AND saving money!!!
I be making this tool as one of my wheels has this problem and my old school bike shop who is trying to fix it told me about your tool he's been meaning to make it put never getting time to do it so it's down to me which I'm looking forward to making and trying it and me and my bike shop can finely fix my wheel thank you. I'll let you no how we got on.
Hello. Good work. I've saw a lot of your video on the YT. Could you tell me please which part of Australia do you live and cycling (if it isn't a secret of course)? I am from Poland and I have to admit that in my opinion Australia is one of the best place to live on the world.
I don’t have a list but I can tell you I got the parts from Home Depot and a local hardware store. I got a list of the parts this Aussie used and found parts I could substitute. Being Canadian I was used to metric measurements. For example 19 mm is 3/4”. It was frustrating finding parts but I’m sure these is more parts available in the USA
Love the video, you are right about finding parts. I am in the U.S. and was wondering if you could send all the parts for the tools, and how would that work.
This is exactly what I need for my HED jet 3 c2 wheelset. The rear wheel has a dent in it, but it has a carbon fairing. Is it possible to remove the fairing?
Been thinking if you can create a DIY thread roller tool with just the head replacement for Hozan C700. Would be a lot cheaper than buying the whole C700 and give much access to a tool otherwise limited to shops.
Thank you for this. Now I have a reason to join FBook, I guess, so I can get parts lists and start making tools. I have an unrelated question; What is your opinion on repain carbon fibre frames or rims ?
Thank you oz cycle. Happy New Year. Did you happen to catch the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race that just took place? I sail as well as cycle; and I watch the Sydney Hobart Race every year online.
@@stevenleffanue Yes, I've been into water sports, surfing and sailing, since I was young. I live near Cocoa Beach, Florida. Every sport seems to use different muscles. With cycling, I really lost a lot of weight. I lost 50 pounds, and 6 inches off my waist, within about 4 months. I am now 128 lbs. (58kg), with a 27 inch (69cm) waist. By the way, I'm a very small person, only 5' 7", so my current weight is within a healthy range. The reason I lost so much weight cycling is that I actually use my road bike to get around as much as possible. It's not just something I do on the weekend. I keep my car parked as much as possible, and cycle instead, to the store for groceries, for example. Where I live stores are quite far away, too. The nearest grocery store is 10 miles (16km) away, so you can imagine I get a lot of exercise.
Hello! Loving your vids; thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. I've just purchased the bits and pieces to make your wheelstick tool. Wondering how long you cut the threaded rod?
I did this tool and fix a rim... But i have another one but the rim flat spot is not going in... Is the opposite!! It was bad repaired and is going out, how can i fiz that??
Loosen all spokes 1 turn then tighten spokes directly under spot that bulges outwards. Once bulge is even with rest of rim , tension all spokes evenly. If bulge is too bad , replace rim.
This channel is a fountain of knowledge.keep up the good work mate

This was hugely helpful. I love the little storage box.
Love your vids! Just started waxing my chains based upon your advice/videos. So far so good, it's great!
A dremel tool really helps if the plastic parts don't quite fit.

I'm in the US and can't find these parts.. Did your alternative parts work? if they did can you list them below?

Happy new year for you to Glenny. See you at the Tour Down Under in couple weeks time?
Genius.

Is this tool going to work on 27.5 mtb wheel using the dimensions you provided?

Happy new year to you too Jason. Sorry I didnt see the yatch race. You must be a fit fella to have strength for yachting and aerobics for cycling?! 😎

20cm Leroy. For smaller wheels like 24" and BMX you cut both the outer piping and thread.
@@stevenleffanue Thank you! I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks Steve, it worked pretty well. A little more tweaking and I should get it pretty close. Thanks very much!
Hi! any recommendation for good value aluminum wheels for climbing? I'm 90kg btw :)
Pretty hard to go past Shimano R9100 C24.
Totally what i ned to fix that rim. It drives me crazy.
Where can I get that tool from, Google all sorts and can't find it? Do you have a link
You make it yourself.
Do you also made your ohn wheel thru tool?.
Yes but not easy to make without welding. Just use your bike frame/fork.
