Regarding a question about feeling guilty about a sin you have already confessed, a priest once said to me during Confession "God has forgiven you, now you need to forgive yourself." It was the perfect answer for me. I just wanted to share it. Hope it helps someone else.
I was told by not forgiving myself, I think I am better than Jesus who has forgiven me!
I took it as a helpful piece of advice that made sense. Not as me placing myself above God. But thanks for a new perspective!

Fr. Mike I am so blessed that you have come into my life. My parents are both deceased and I was praying to strengthen my Catholic Faith. This past February I was scrolling U tube and I saw your picture and Assension. I clicked on and listened to what you were teaching which touched my heart. I am following CIY and will do BIY soon. I have also noticed how much you look my my dad same smile and same color eyes. I believe my dad sent me to get to know you with prayer. I'm praying for you please pray for me. God bless you!
This was so cool! I have recently reverted back to the Catholic faith, was a non-practicing Cathlolic until I was 12 years. 2 years ago I invited Jesus into my heart, and the Lord led me to different protestant churches, to finally lead me back to the Catholic church. Since 6 months I am exploring everything about Catholicism, and Father Mike Schmitz has helped me so much. I will get confirmed this Easter. I am truly grateful. I have to say that I feel quite alone in my faith, living in Amsterdam ( The Netherlands). I have some protestant friends, but that's it. It is hard to meet other Catholics in my age range (30-40) and to make friends. But this video really warmed my heart, made me realize I don't have to feel alone. Father Mike, thank you for your preachings and teachings. I am on day 33 with the Biblel in a Year Podcast, it is incredible. Hope one day you'll come out to The Netherlands. So true!! This has become an essential part of going to confession for me so I can accept God’s love and forgiveness. I go to confession, say my penance and then say “I forgive myself for what I’ve done.” When I don’t forgive myself, I push God’s mercy away and end up with a perfectionist mindset, trying to earn God’s love or prove myself in some way. I forget I’m inherently good and infinitely loved regardless of what I do or have done.

So, I'm a bit late to this party since it was live 2 mos. ago! Just wanted to comment on your "what's next" by building/expanding on the Newman Center. I believe your mission is growing exponentially and am happy to once again donate a bit to making that happen. I also wanted to encourage you to invest in the technology to broadcast whatever retreats/functions you are offering to the campus and make them available to the Front Pew. We tune in from all over the world, representing all ages (I'm 67), and feel universally connected to Fr. Mike and the team of Bulldog Catholics that not only do what it takes to offer Mass online but are offering spiritual and educational programs (including this one!) that I want to enthusiastically attend! Thanks to the Bulldog Catholic team for this event! May God continue using each of you and inspire all of us who benefit from your online presence to be moved to donate!

This was so great, this Q&A. So many questions that came up that I wouldn't have thought of to ask in the moment, but have wondered about myself. My vote is for Summa Theologica in a year for what it's worth lol! Also I loved the round of favourite passages at the end.

I'm working through BIY and CIY this year for the first time and will finish at the end of the year. I plan to start them again on January 1. I've learned SO MUCH I didn't know even after 45 years of Protestant Bible studies and 4 years as a Catholic.
I loved your answer to the question about not being sure which direction to go. It reminds me of Isaiah 30:21 "And your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, "This is the way, walk in it" when you turn to the right or turn to the left." It's when we move in the direction we think we should go that the correct path becomes clear.

Thank you Father Schmitz for ALL that you do! I am a mother of 5 children (15-25) and my greatest desire is that each one of them have an intimate relationship with the Lord. What can I do, to help them desire the same thing....for them to truly know that is the most important endeavor in life?
As someone who falls in that age range and who has struggled to cultivate a desire for our Lord, I have to say that witnessing my parents faith while being patient with me was like a smooth flowing stream that cut through the hardest of rocks

It's really hard to accept that God does not want to heal you, when one has begged for over 10 years. But pain and suffering just gets worse. To the point I sometimes pray for death to come soon. Am doing BIY, keeps me distracted from daily struggles. 😢

Most of the time I don't feel anything when I pray...sometimes I cry vehemently. This happens when I meditate on the passion of Christ while praying the rosary or the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy. When it seemed I couldn't breath from crying out my heart, I asked the Blessed Virgin Mary to help me...how she did it all through out the agony of our Lord, her Son. And Mother Mary helped me every time. You might not feel anything while praying but your prayers change you in a way you don't even know. Prayers have changed me.
