My comment copied from another video:
    "So,
song 1: Guy convinces his girlfriend/wife/what have you to leave during a storm ("we should have left before the storm"). The car crashes obviously and she dies. The black figure shows up then, representing the beginning of the guilt that's gonna haunt him.
Song 2: He is forced to confirm her body and then attend her funeral, the feature at the end as the platform sinks represents her being lowered and his world literally crumbling
Song 3: he tries to come to grips with the fact that he has to live alone and can only hold onto her memory, even as he's forgetting the details ("the rain washes you away").
Song 4: he begins to go insane and, towards the end, believes he hears her voice (the light/white cloth represents her, as she "wraps him up"/consumes his mind)
Song 5: her voice leads him to the foot of her grave, where he digs her up and brings her home to make a shrine of her and/or necrophilize the body (hide you in my walls, rotting)
Song 6: he commits self end ("closure in a physical form", i.e. something real and not in his head) to be with her again, represented by him and her hugging in the hellfire at the end.
Also, Forced To Stay is my favorite. Those drums just go insane in the middle"
Glad you loved it, i think we all saw that you would love it as much as we would love a reaction to it lol. The venom-y screams in "God Knows" ARE actually a vocal feature, but the rest of the lows and surprise growls and such are done by the guitarist I believe. That was one of the great things about the new singles, Bryan experiments with his voice a bit.

thanks man this is a great comment! I was hoping someone would explain each song and It's meaning and reading it is pretty much what I gathered overall from watching it so I'm glad I didn't miss the overall story, I've felt a similar feeling before, the person didn't die so it wasn't as agonizing but there are a lot of relatable things in this EP / video for me
It totally sounded like a feature but on Spotify it had no posted features so I wasn't sure so thanks for clearing that up! I don't know which one is my favorite yet but Permanent is definitely top tier

@@BabyBatPlays permanent = the breakdown of the entire album lol. I also think "permanent blue" is a bit of a callback to the previous album, "A different Shade of Blue"
Loss is tough man, it's also the subject of the new singles so they haven't run out of things to say about it either.

In reference to the 1st song title, "Where Light Divides the Holler," it didn't really occur to me that a lot of people probably don't actually understand what it means because its more of a local-ish dialect thing afaik. I'm from the same area as the band and a "holler" is what people around here call hallows, which are basically backroads that are not very well lit and often pretty dangerous, especially in bad weather. A lot of people around here know/know of somebody that has either been injured or killed driving them at night, so this album hits especially hard from that type of perspective.

We call them boonies in Maine. Same concept but I like hearing what different regions call them. In snow and ice people tend to get lost or stranded. "Out yonder" is another term as well up here

If you're interested, Isaac (guitarist with low growls) has a side-project called INCLINATION.
It's more classic HxC but it's really catchy and punchy !

It really is a godly EP. I highly suggest you also listen to it while keeping up with the lyrics. Bryan is such a good lyricist and the pain and storytelling in the lyrics really paints the story fully

The fact that the heaviest brick of 2021, released with close to no promo, put even normies on notice, to the extend that these guys played coachella should give you an idea of how good this ep is.
Also, the more I listen to it, the more I disagree with the metalcore label. Hardcorepunk bands have incorporated elements from metal for as long back as the early 80s. And there is still so, so much punk in this record.

This EP sits squarely in Deathcore if a categorization is needed

    • @Mr.Marbles
      @Mr.Marbles 4 месяца назад +1

@@Akrostix nah. deathcore plays around with guttorals and vocal techniques more and the drums would be way faster and complex. this is straight up metalcore. not the modern "i gotta do a clean singing part" type of metalcore, but the older definition like converge and similar. it leans way more into hardcore.

Also, something I picked up on Contorted in the Faille, there’s a few time changes where each individual instrument is played (drums, bass, then each guitar separately).

Really glad I found you mate, was a treat to watch with you (again) :)
This EP came out a tough area of my life, and man it took me around a tour in my mind. Been in love with it ever since, so perhaps its quite sentimental in that way for me too, but appreciate you legitimately appreciating this with an open mind, all we can ask for in music right \m/
(also that Johnny Booth comparison, that's sick. Love those guys aswell, especially their new album.)

thanks man means a lot :) I have a lot of music that immediately takes me back to places in my life, almost like I have imbedded memories in the songs, so I totally get that! also, I'll be putting the first knocked loose album on my next album poll AND my last video was actually the new johnny booth album! here's a link if you'd like: ruclips.net/video/YGNNyo0F2sA/видео.html

oh youre kidding right? Lets go, Ill be checking all that out for sure man. Yeah it can also keep you from certain music if you have bad memories attached, which is the only sad part. Ive managed to get past that with a couple songs/artrists before so it's not impossible, but yeah it's like a memory with sound attached, maybe even video.
Keep up the good work man@@BabyBatPlays

His vocals remind me alot of Converge. Where Jacob Bannon from Converge sounds like a Jaguar, I'd argue Bryan Garris sounds more like a mountain lion or bobcat in comparison. It works and i love it
