Garris reveals, “It’s a story about extreme grief and the levels a person is willing to go through to get rid of it. The story follows a main character through a traumatic car crash late one night in the woods that leaves his partner deceased, and from there you spiral with him into the depression and guilt that comes with being the cause of something so detrimental." He continues, "This is the first time we really dove in and tried to create something sonically that evokes a different range of emotions and over all something that introduces tension and anxiety with a massive pay off. The story is told not only through words but through the music as well, which proved to be our biggest challenge in writing. Lyrically this story ended up being much more personal than we initially intended. We started with the idea to tell a fictional story but throughout the process, I found ways to incorporate real feelings of loss and mourning, as well as anger and self doubt. I’ve always been a very personal writer and this was originally a step away from that, into something more artistic. But in the end, it was just as therapeutic as writing a regular Knocked Loose record, and I think you’ll be able to hear that.” Read More: Knocked Loose Surprise Release New EP + Animated Short Film | loudwire.com/knocked-loose-tear-in-fabric-of-life-ep-animated-short-film/?
Glad you mentioned this. The music is fantastic, and it’s super heavy and all that, but lyrically this EP is devastating. For anyone who hasn’t, it’s worth going through this EP with lyrics in front of you to get the whole story. They deserve extra credit for the lyrics on this one, especially how they were able to correspond emotion, lyrics, and music (and visual animation).
Yes, it's still Knocked Loose, but more grown up. More mature. Tighter than ever. Absolute Masterpiece. I will see them live in Germany in February. Can't wait 🤗 I thought Sleep Token was AOTY, now I have to think again.
This EP still blows my balls off whenever I listen to it. It still contains the pure anger, heavy and chuggy riffs/breakdowns and flawless transitions that we all expect and love from Knocked Loose but now they added this extra evil/eeriness to their sound and vibe. And they also played on a much more technical and skillful level then their previously released work which was still already kickass stuff. How they progressed from what was already amazing into this masterpiece of an EP is just phenomenal.
As a fan of music in general, it always makes me sad that nobody brings up the fact that the 2nd son is called God knows. And nobody brings up that the beach boys "god only knows" plays at the end. And you hear it for a second at the beginning, when he's flipping through stations on the car radio. And how it starts to distort. Like you hear that it's still playing in the background on the car radio as he's coming to after the wreck. Or that it's a reminder of the wreck, tormenting his mind!!! Subtle things that were added to make this incredibly awesome!!!
The ending breakdown to the whole EP made me cry, idk if it was the video, the music, or both. This is one of the greatest EPs I've ever had the pleasure of listening to.
Flawless. This is one of those EPs that you can’t just pick a random song to jam to. You start front to back for the full experience. TDWP’s Zombie EP is the only other one I can think of that I do that for. Knocked Loose is killing it
I went to see knocked loose headline last week. Hands down the best show I've ever been to. The entire sold out crowd was moshing. Absolutely surreal experience. I wish I could go twice. It's safe to say I'm never missing another one of their shows.
I thought the same exact thing, their sound here is very much typical knocked loose, but each band member sounds as thought they have evolved and refined their respective crafts and it all comes together in an orchestra of blistering chaos. I did not like this band prior to this EP and I couldnt be more impressed with this piece. Absolutely phenomenal
ive watched like 10 reactions to this ep and youre the most genuine dude. i was saying the same shit a month ago. saw them live the week this dropped and they played god knows and another song on the ep. fucking great live. better than the last 2 times ive seen them.
I watch yt reactions to hardcore just to see how people are feeling about records, and it was super cool to see someone from aus on knocked loose, especially as a major fan of Thy Art, Amity and Parkway. I actually want to make a point to come to australia and see a hardcore show, throwdown and get fucked with you guys lol your scene has given me a lot, so i think it's only fair we fucking party
I'm just now seeing this for the first time. I'm near speechless. I don't know how to describe what I'm seeing or what I'm hearing but it is so good and next level. Absolutely incredible are the only words I know to say right now.
YESSS I was hoping you'd do this. Quickly you've became my favorite reaction channel, add my favorite band to the mix and we got ourselves a fugging show! My channel is gonna start releasing reaction videos in November, and you are goals 👌🖤
Great reaction. Anyway, can i request your reaction to superb band from japan? The band is call "Lovebites" They all The Beautiful Queens heavy metal band right now in the earth. They are really really Genius and World class musicians. Phenomenal. And they have a lot diehard fans like me😁. The fans called Wolfpack. The song is "Set the world on fire" from they live concert. Zombie 2 was SO good as well but nothing beats the og outnumbered is a masterpiece
For those who don't know, the black metal-esque vocals in God Know are Matt King From Portrayal of Guilt.
I think the new guitar player has brought them to a new level!
They’re old guitarist helped write and record the songs I believe. Then later on their new guitarist joined
Their best work yet. This ep took Darko's spot of ep of the year for me.
