Hello Uber Man! I am, I guess, what you would call a seasoned driver. I have been driving now for 7 months and just recently went full time. I just want to thank you for this video... even though I have figured out most of this info through hard knocks (lol) I was still able to garner quite a bit of info from this! Fantastic job man...I will be recommending your channel to all of my fellow drivers in the area as well as any new drivers I happen to bring on board....not that I am actively recruiting as we are already overflowed with drivers in my city. Anyway, thanks again! James.
I'm going out for the first time tonight, but I'm glad I came across this video first! Key takeaways: 1) Get on the Uber rider app and see where the clutter is. 2) Inform the rider (in a very subtle way) of the importance of a 5 star rating for drivers. 3) Last but certainly not least, my nervousness about jumping out there for the first time is normal! Good stuff!
Thank you! Very informative! You answered every single question I had except one. Security. Have you been in a dangerous situation and what did you do? Being female I am a little concerned with this (as is my husband).
Thank you so very much for making this video.I have been retired for about two years and my money isn't lasting so I need to get a new gig. I have been watching a lot of videos about UBER and your series is the best that I have come across. I live near a college town with about 50,000 full time residents so I expect to need the sick bags. Thanks again for the videos.I plan to use your code when I sign up for Uber. I first have to get a little work done to my car.
Hey Uber Man. Your vids have been very helpful. I've watched a bunch today. I just got started 2 days ago. What happens if your phone dies (obv. not gonna happen if plugged in), app crashes, lose signal, whatever. You can't actually call Uber. Would you just keep track manually and contact them later. I'm guessing they could track through your rider (maybe??). -Thanks!
Thank so much for the intro. I am a new driver. I am one of the drivers that you're talking about, because I am very nervous about my first trip. I have cleared everything and I am "active" just haven driven yet. I plan to start next week. Again thanks, great job!
I went out today (airport) and I had (2) cancellations before I even got to the pick-up gate. I finally got a rider (a pilot) who lived several blocks from the airport. I went out and picked him up at home and brought him back to the airport. YES, I was nervous, but he was very nice which made it so much easier. I forgot to hit the "pick-up button" and "drop- off" but lucky the system picked it up. Thanks again.
Hi, I'm a new uber driver here in Boston, I have just a couple weeks doing that and I have to say that help me a lot lot. I have to say thank you because you gave me advice and encouraged me to do it. Thanks you my friend. All that you said in this video was the same way that i felt when I took me first ride.
They don't ask for photos of your car anymore, at least not if you're in the Chicagoland area. When you sign up here, they only ask for your driver's license, vehicle registration, proof insurance with your name on it, and an annual vehicle inspection report. They provide the report form and a list of approved mechanic shops. (In Chicago, you only pay $20 to get this report completed.) After watching this video, I can see where taking photos are important in case your car is damaged by a passenger. Uber would need to know that the damage was not there before the incident.
Hey Uber Man, I got my first drive last night... the people were drinking prior to the ride.... 100+ proof! I freaked a out a bit and we I got the call. I was actually going home, then they canceled and then they called again ... less than 45 seconds. I got them to the destination... not perfect, but I forgot to turn on the mileage meter thing... Dang... first time stuff, dang again. I am going for my second drive today. GIRL POWER!
This rating system is terrible by uber. How many customers will give a 4 star...Thinking they are giving you a good rating. Unaware they are giving you a failure rating. +dve carey I've driven uber for a day and a half, done 14 rides and have a 4.92 rating because one person rated me 4. And that person did not report any kind of issue with my service...
Thanks, for the excellent video. Well, I am pretty much new to the Uber and Lyft platform. I've only have completed one hundred rides. Yes my biggest worry is ratings. You kind of cleared that off for me. You say 'just concentrate on the quality of the service'. Makes sense. I will work on that one. Once again thanks. Uber On.
As a potential new driver, I found the video very informative. Uber man provided some key information that could be useful for new drivers. However, it was quite long and more weighted towards vehicle maintenance than I felt it should be at this point.
I'm a new UBER....as of TODAY....thanks for the info :-) You mentioned taking photo's of your car...UBER never asked me to take pictures of my car....sent them picture of my commercial license...insurance...registration...and vehicle inspection..and that was it...got activated in 7 days.
Gratitude for the advice & wisdom. Now for my question: Where would it be best to go get "alignment & tire/balancing rotation?"......Walmart, Costo or PepBoys? Gratitude.
Am in Nairobi,KENYA the information is great n very helpful. Drove Metro cars in Detroit Michigan a while back any similarities. Will start Uber driving soon hope I can make something out of it.Its a booming business here in Kenya. Keep it up.
i really appreciate the car advice at the end. I'm horrible with cars and been trying to find ways to better take care of a newer model i just purchased and planning to use for uber. Thank you
Thanks for the video!!! Especially the suggestion for using the uber rider app to find where to drive. I had been driving almost 50 miles to find fares and while watching this video I found that 10 minutes from me there's a pretty successful area!
That was excellent. You covered a lot of stuff I already knew, but also a lot of things I would not have thought of. Totally thorough. I'm looking forward to getting on the road as soon as my vehicle gets checked out this week. Well done and thanks. (Perth, Australia)
I watched this video after watching a few others. I just have to say this! When you talk about yourself, you sound humble!! Most people sound conceited but you truly don't. I believe your service is probably better than 4.8 or whatever you said it was lol
Awesome video....Thanks. I am approved and waiting for my car to have a warranty issue fixed before I start. Little bit of the first trip jitters....where will they want to go...no doubt somewhere I am not familiar with. Oh well easy to get over that stuff. Although you brought up something I did not think of.....Vomit, urine, DEFICATE....What? So this brings a question. How often has this happened to you? Its enough to make me rethink the decision to Uber. Thanks again and glad to see you survived the shut down.
Uber Man it went really good, took a few runs last night just to get my feet wet, but still your tips are awesome and very helpful. I'm about to go out again tonight and give it another try and see how this night goes thumbs up! Peace out bro...
Hi Uber Man. Thanks for this video. I signed up last week and just got the OK to drive on Thursday night. It's now Saturday night and I was so nervous about starting it all up I just have not signed on. It's 4th of July weekend and I live at the Jersey Shore I'm sure I missed out on some $. I'm glad to hear that you were nervous and I'm not the only one. I will get up early and try to get some of the people going down to the beach or boardwalk in the morning. Thanks again for the pep talk and tips.
Well Uber Man I got the nerve up and went out on Sunday to drive for 4th of July weekend. I was very happy and did what I thought was good. I drove 6 hours and had 8 fairs. I could have done more but I got so far north from my home I didn't except like 6 of the fairs. Thanks again for your video.
That is so funny you brought up the issue with the app dying .. my phone died just last night and I had to plug in my charger and I remained calm and brought the uber app back up again and got my passenger to his destination lol
I live in NYC and it requires you to get a get 2 licences. Which is TLC licence(taxi and limousine commission) and your Drivers licence. Which you need to change your license Class at the DMV to E, CDL, or A. In order to drive for UBER here
I just applied for tlc licence and yes it is expensive and time consuming (about 35 hours worth of courses). you have to take a whole bunch of courses, which you have to pay, and then you have to pass a test. it'll cost around $700 all together to get your tlc licence, however uber told me I would get $250 after my first ride, and $500 after my 20th so you get the money back. as far as tlc plates, I'm not at that stage yet, so I don't know the cost.
Thank you for your channel! I'm all ready to start but want to make sure I'm very well prepared. You have given me a lot of great info that is really useful. Keep it up, Gino
Thank you Sooo Much!!! I been looking all night for this info! lol I did the hang up on first ping too! Uber should pay you for this training video and add it to theirs. If they had, I would driving right now, instead of looking for more info. Anyone that joins thru me will be sent to your website first. You should also show how to switch between apps. I'm a newbie to 4G and with a new phone. My Lyft driver taught me how. Thank God! If you don't have another gps you need to know how to get back and forth from apps to google and back without leaving the Uber or Lyft app. especially if they only tell you a street and place name. Thanks again!
UberMan, thanks for your tips. I just signed up and I'm about to take the plunge here San Francisco and with the SuperBowl in town, I'm going to need all the tips and support I can get.
oh lovely I made a good chunk of pay. the tampa market isnt exactly... booming... yesterday was a bust (been with uber for 2-3 months now) but thats the first day that was ever this bad in terms of rider frequency.
On my first day of 7 rides my rating went 4.75. I don't know why. I thought I did everything right. I'd like to know why you have to work nights. Most likely you like it better or make more money. The puke smell does not go away in two hours. (I don't mean to tell you wrong)Thank you so much for the advice and hard work.
Tomorrow I'm going out for my first drive. I just have a few questions. 1) I live in a small town and I will have to go to a bigger neighboring town or city. If they don't give me an address, I feel like I would be in trouble, and you said to avoid asking them how to get there. what can I do at this point? Should I wait and try to figure out where to go? Should I google it? That's what I'm worried about the most. 2) would it be a bad idea to put a small sign that sort of explains how the feedback system affects us? For example, "4 = fail, 5 = success :) please feel free to let me know how I can make your ride more comfortable." Thanks
You'll be fine. If they did not enter an address, ask them for the destination / address, or ask if they would prefer to give you directions. The rating sign may help, or it may hurt. I really don't know for sure. I'd not put up a sign yet. Get a few trips under your belt first.
Whew! THANK YOU!! I've watched so many vids all over RUclips looking for just this!! I've appreciated ALL of the vids and info, but most of the time many references are made that are common I guess, I don't even understand!
Tune-up is usually spark plugs. Those are 100K for most cars today. Trans flush every 30K. Oil changes every 5K. Brakes as needed. They will last 30 - 50K miles usually. Air filters are due about every 12K.
I have a question: Female passengers, how do you protect yourself from false accusation. And yes, drunk female passengers, how helpful should you be. I have seen both men and women so incapacitated they needed to be carried to the door.Any guidance for these situation?
+Deadwood Pike I have a GoPro Hero 3+ Black in my car. The cam shoots the road. It picks up very clear audio. I have helped many a drunk woman, with no issues as of yet. I recommend checking local laws before recording video / audio.
Good video but i wouldn't recommend putting out your own money for water, etc, if the customer is thristy stop at a store, let them run in and buy themselves a drink, it really doesn't affect ratings, it does make the customer feel like they took advantage of you though.
I love that you mentioned Tulsa, OK. I'm moving down there in a couple months and have considered Uber-ing part-time. Do you have any tips specifically for that area? Thanks!
+Alyssa Gandy If I did I'd be happy to share them with you. Unfortunately I have zero experience with the Tulsa market. :( There is a Facebook group I created called Uber Man OKC Driver Network. We have people from Tulsa in there. Feel free to join, and ask for some help with the Tulsa market.
Great video Uber man. I've been approved to drive with Uber immediately but still have a couple questions I need answering first - 1. Are any additional Personal Auto insurance endorsements needed? 2. If the passenger doesn't indicate where they are going on the app, when you pull up and find they want to go 60 miles out of your comfort zone, can you decline the ride with no negative feedback? Thanks alot!
+Johnny A There should be no additional insurance needed. Uber provides the commercial coverage. Yes, you can cancel the ride at any time, for any reason. Welcome to Uber!
Yo Man, Outstanding info!!! You need to clean this up, each company specific, and market this to them for 1st time drivers like I was 2 days ago.. I search all over the Uber website hoping for info like this, it was not there.. The driver that came to my house and inspected my car, did not give me this info, he said I should be getting a e-mail in 6 to10 days after background investigation and driving record was completed. The next day I download driver app and it started peeping :-) I let the 1st 2 go by before answering one.. it all turned out ok, 2 yesterday and 8 today, but I would have loved to have your info before answering the 1st one... Thanks bro
Thank You! Thank You! You're so right, I've been listening to video after video, trying to get past this apprehension. But after listening to your newbie video, I'm going to do that 1st ride today.
crazy in ones criminal background does not discount someone being rehabilitated. Remember that is people that wont give people a chance that are part of the problem and not the solution.
Love this vid! You are so authentic Love it...I just signed up this week. and I'm going to try working at this this weekend. Im a bit nervous though., Minneapolis MN
+Uber Man Huh. I just signed up with Uber, (Lyft too), and drive a 2011 model, so this won't affect me, but if they just deactivate you, (regardless of your trip/ratings history), based on your vehicle's age alone, that's kind of fukt.
I have a little sign on the far corner of my windshield that instantly gives me away as an Uber driver. It's a stick figure with a phone on its hand hailing a cab. Makes it very easy to identify me, especially in a crowded area. Plus I use an HHR, which is not rare, but also not too common. I use the new-car smell air freshener. And mount my phone on an AC vent, which doesn't take my eyes off the road. I know my city very well, plus I know my geographical directions (North/South/East/West). GPS navigation sucks, and left/right directions are entirely relative and subjective. So I don't navigate at all. I don't feel the need to have water or gum, but it can't hurt to add them, I guess. I do have Sirius XM radio and spotify, though. Uber becomes a reason to keep your car clean, and your road manners in check.
this was a great video introduction thank you so much for the information As I am a first time driver that will be starting for the first time on Friday. the only thing that you got me thinking about now that i wouldn't even drive is the rating for the drivers. I mean if your not rated high enough how long normally will it take for Uber to drop you. it's not like I'm worried about it I have a full time job plus a part time job so this will be a part part time job lol
You make a great recommendation of checking the rider app for activity in your area, but I have a question: How can one have an Uber rider account AND the driver account when your mobile number is already registered to the Driver App?
Should I be worrying about my rating at 3 days in with 73 rides at a rating of 4.62. I know what I need to change. Talk less, tidy up the vehicle. Or does Uber kick you off the app right away? Thanks for all the info in this video.
What are your thoughts on coming up with a way for drivers to be able to communicate with each other in real time? That ability would give the drivers of a city the ability to work together, if all the drivers are coordinating together the surges could easily be manipulated and drivers could make a fair wage even with the rate cuts. Perhaps that would entice uber to do away with surges and just charge a fair flat rate to both riders and drivers.
subliminal1284 While I like the idea, I don't like ripping off the passengers by manipulating surge pricing. I'll look in to creating an app for driver communication in real time. Thanks.
Uber Man I can see where you're coming from. Some drivers would abuse the power to get the surges too high. However if you kept the surges between 2.0-2.5x the rates would be fair to both riders and passengers. Do you believe that uber will eventually realize that their current rates will not be sustainable if they want to keep drivers or do you believe they will rely on their revolving door policy and simply replace drivers as quickly as they sign up once the drivers realize the pay is no longer profitable?
when purchasing a new/used vehicle, some dealer owned vehicle may offer a oil change package. a nearby nissan dealership near me will give lifetime oil change and inspection for $1800
dandanthetaximan actually i told them the car is for uber and they said they don't care, but yah if you're smart enough you don't tell your insurance/car dealer ships about that but you can ask them about if they have "maintenance package"
Ripoff! Changing your oil yourself takes 10 minutes, $30 each with synthetic oil each time. So if 4 changes a year, that's 15 years of oil changes. I doubt you'll keep the car more than even 5 years if it doesn't get totaled ubering.
everss02 not everyone's comfortable with changing oil, also they provide inspection too so they can actually see if there's anything else wrong with your vehicle. that alone itself usually cost $60-100
Hi Uber man, awesome video! I just started driving yesterday and the traffic is so heavy... how often do you have to reroute little bit in high traffic area or do you have to go exactly what GPS show most of time
UberMan, produced a great Video. Thank you for the all the informations that you provided for Uber starters. I'm going to hit the street tomorrow as of Uber driver. please wish me luck ! thank you again ~~
I really LIKE your videos , I am a 3 month newbie UBER man in tucson arizona , I started my 1 st day driving down by the U of A campus at 11 am , and PING , my 1st ride , yeah i was a bit nervous , then when it got dark I was more nervous til I got use to the night time google maps , lit screen , thanks for what you do from william combs
Does the promo code still work if I've already created an Uber account? I created an account but haven't gone through the background check or anything yet. Don't want to miss out on some free cash!
I am in the sign up process, I am waiting for my back ground check. Today I got a texted to put my bank info in. Im not sure if this is really UBER or a scam? What can you tell me about this. Thanks Bill M
Hi um, i just signed up fir uber a week ago and got activated yesterday. I was a little surprised as my 2004 ford car got passed, as i believe it has to b under 10 years. However the inspection failed and i had to spend around 800$ to get get inspection passed. I have two questions. 1) I got activated and was able to accept rides without uploading the inspection form, that means i probably never should upload it, since i got avtivated and my car got accepted overall? 2) I got the inspection passed yet still my car has visible dents and general wear and tear overall both from inside and outside, also engine make noise when accelerating. Is this gonna effect my rating anway? 3) if uber is easy to pass and make money, why isnt everyone doing it?
Thank you! I am getting signed up and you made me feel very comfortable about the process... except the puke part lol......looking forward to starting :)
Hey so I saw that you're in OKC and I am too. I'm just getting started up and will hopefully do my first trips this weekend but I've been looking around on the Internet that it looks like Uber drivers in OKC have to have their cars inspected and go through a background test or they risk getting tickets and having their cars impounded. Do you have any info on any of this? Thanks and great video BTW.
Lance Goodwin That was a long time ago. Our police chief refused to enforce the law. Then Governor Mary Fallen passed legislation giving us the green light, with no checks, no inspections, etc.
Uber Man that throws a wrench in my works! You said something about a timer being set when you get pinged... Does it tell if that is a select, and if so, if you let the X rides time out, do you know of penalties?
+upgrader99 With the latest app update, I did not know which pings were Select, and which were X. They figured that one out! Also, if you don't accept runs, after like 3 within an hour or something like that, they will suspend your ability to drive for 60 - 90 minutes. If you continue, they will deactivate you.
Uber Man that blows... I have a luxury sedan, get probably around 18mpg... the last thing I want to do is worry about breaking even and ending up with wear and tear and puke to top it off... hmm... That's not very smart of uber in my opinion.... Some people are going to want a nice ride, and "woops... sorry... I'm driving home a drunk 21 year old, 15 miles, at surge who didn't tip me anything...." Yikes... Anyways.... so drivers have to do everything to stay above a 4.6. But as far as passengers, do they see what you rated them immediately? Could be a sort of back scratching thing, which could backfire and impact the driver the most. If you don't rate a passenger a 5, they might rate you a 4 based on that... But you said to rate the average passenger a 3? Do your ratings for passengers look like a bell curve?
+upgrader99 They never see what you rate them, and we never see what they rate us. Passengers have no threshold before they are deactivated as we do. I've had 1 star passengers still active. I rate them what I feel is fair.
Thank you for all of your vids! I don't plan to rent the phone from Uber as well and just plan to use my Note 3. My question is can Uber continue to run in the background normally while using Google Maps for navigating. I ask this because Google Maps is constantly updating especially regarding traffic and/or road construction.
Hey Uber Man , do u carry commercial insurance, or just rely on Uber's policy while your driving a customer? Also, are u covered by Uber when you're enroute to pick them up ? Thanks
I just was accepted as a driver, and have to to download the app. Kinda freaked out about the rating method, and also not accepting pick-ups as one pleases without getting penalized or terminated.
+Uber Man Thank you. I live in S.E. Michigan and there's zero public transportation, so I think that's a plus. Not to mention I'm working as a courier, and am all over the map every day. Not making much money!
Great video, I was just trying to find out if fares are calculated on number of passengers for Uber. and if it is, how do I know how many they paid for?
how about car insurance? I thought I would keep quiet to see if this works out for me, but at some point I will need to step up. Does UBER offer a supplementary policy?
Hello Uber Man! I am, I guess, what you would call a seasoned driver. I have been driving now for 7 months and just recently went full time. the 4/5 = fail is nonsense. Should be a simple good/bad, green/red, yes/no.
Car age thing is stupid too.
+qerfwgbrwtnj3w5ynmetyjtymetynmtwghwrehqwytntwh4qthw I agree.
Agree. People think my 2006 jeep is a 2014 or newer all of the time
Thank so much for the intro. I am a new driver. I am one of the drivers that you're talking about, because I am very nervous about my first trip. I have cleared everything and I am "active" just haven driven yet. I plan to start next week. Again thanks, great job!

That was excellent. You covered a lot of stuff I already knew, but also a lot of things I would not have thought of. Totally thorough. I'm looking forward to getting on the road as soon as my vehicle gets checked out this week. Well done and thanks. (Perth, Australia)
+Craig Williams Thank you for watching. I really do appreciate it. I wish you the best of luck out there, and stay safe. Uber on.
I watched this video after watching a few others. I just have to say this! When you talk about yourself, you sound humble!! Most people sound conceited but you truly don't. I believe your service is probably better than 4.8 or whatever you said it was lol
Thank you Audrey! That was very sweet.
I have made about 40 trips since signing up last week and your walkthrough has helped me a lot. I thought you were right on.Thanks Alex
to add to your advice, pep boys will rotate tires for you for free and check tire pressure too
Uhsen Li Really? Very good info, thank you.
Awesome Vid Uber Man! I just ran my first 2 Ubers tonight as a "Noober" to get my feet wet, all went great :) Excellent Tips and Info! THANKS...
***** How'd it go?
Uber Man it went really good, took a few runs last night just to get my feet wet, but still your tips are awesome and very helpful. I'm about to go out again tonight and give it another try and see how this night goes thumbs up! Peace out bro...
Uber Man
Thanks to you. After watching your video, I just decided to finally get started. I started today. Nervous @ first. But soon got over it. Thanks!!
gloria phillips Let us know how it went! :) Welcome to Uber.
It's great to hear from you! I'm sure you will make money this weekend for sure! I wish you all the best!
In order to drive for UBER here
Sounds expensive, and like a lot of work.
+Uber Man costs around 1k for tlc license and around 2k for tlc plates
Is the cost of both approximately what I posted?
I just applied for tlc licence and yes it is expensive and time consuming (about 35 hours worth of courses). you have to take a whole bunch of courses, which you have to pay, and then you have to pass a test. it'll cost around $700 all together to get your tlc licence, however uber told me I would get $250 after my first ride, and $500 after my 20th so you get the money back. as far as tlc plates, I'm not at that stage yet, so I don't know the cost.
gogolo83 I think that plates are 750
This is a great video I am starting as a driver in Oklahoma City on Thursday and I honestly can't wait
That is great to hear!! I wish you the best out here!
Really appreciate your support. I think i'm ready to start!
+Lynda Joko Glad to hear it! Please keep me posted on how you're doing.
Thank you for your channel! I'm all ready to start but want to make sure I'm very well prepared. You have given me a lot of great info that is really useful. Keep it up, Gino
+gino3d Thanks, and good luck to you!
Angela Rigau Thanks so much! I m happy I could be of help to you. I'll try to make a video for switching apps! Best of luck to you out there!
UberMan, thanks for your tips. I just signed up and I'm about to take the plunge here San Francisco and with the SuperBowl in town, I'm going to need all the tips and support I can get.
+Martin Lopez Diaz, Jr Your welcome. Congrats man!! Good luck out there!!
Thanks for the tips I'm a new driver just join the team on Thursday I have not try it yet after seen this video going to try it tonight
William Justiniano Please let me know how you liked it, and how you did! Welcome to Uber!
Thanks Uber Man for taking your down time to clarify most of the ride share questions I had. Your video was very informative.
+J Scott Seaman You're very welcome. Thanks for watching.
I watched some tips from you before hand and i was exited to make some extra cash for school. i hit that ACCEPT immediately with gusto
Nice! How'd it go?
oh lovely I made a good chunk of pay. the tampa market isnt exactly... booming... yesterday was a bust (been with uber for 2-3 months now) but thats the first day that was ever this bad in terms of rider frequency.
E Galindo I work nights because that's where the $$$$$ is for me. Puke smell does go away, always has for me after a detail. Thanks.
E Galindo Because uber's rating system sucks, you are giving rides to a spoiled American public that uber wants to spoil even more.
I'm a new UBER driver as of yesterday. Very thorough video. Super informative. Thanks for the info!
For example, "4 = fail, 5 = success :) please feel free to let me know how I can make your ride more comfortable."
Thanks
You'll be fine. If they did not enter an address, ask them for the destination / address, or ask if they would prefer to give you directions. The rating sign may help, or it may hurt. I really don't know for sure. I'd not put up a sign yet. Get a few trips under your belt first.
I will recommend hanging a sign in the back seat explaining how the rate system works
Good idea!
Whew! THANK YOU!! I've watched so many vids all over RUclips looking for just this!! I've appreciated ALL of the vids and info, but most of the time many references are made that are common I guess, I don't even understand!
I like using the extra phone so I can monitor where other drivers are... and so I get notified if a Text message comes in
Rod Mastar That is a great idea.
Thanks for all the hard work you put into this and other videos. I watched the while thing. Lots of useful information.
***** I'm glad I can help people, it makes me feel good.
How often ( mileage) would you do a complete tune-up.
What do you include in your tune ups?
Transmission Service?
Engine Service?
Brake Service?
Tune-up is usually spark plugs. Those are 100K for most cars today. Trans flush every 30K. Oil changes every 5K. Brakes as needed. They will last 30 - 50K miles usually. Air filters are due about every 12K.
Thanks for the quick reply.
You bet!

I just signed up to drive for Uber last week (got accepted), but I didn't know about your code or else I definitely would have used it. Damn it.
GetSchanked It's all good. I appreciate you watching the videos, and commenting.
Another great, fun & informative video. I watched straight through. Thanks friend. ;)
Carol4Zeppelin Thank you for taking the time to watch! :)
You aren't wasting time in the beginning. I was going to start today and I'm so scared. Crazy thing is I'm a people person.
Thank you Uber Man for the walk through. Much appreciated.
+Lois Atwater You are most welcome.
grew up in Europe and we had same concept of cab company as Uber but without the technology
+istvan buda Ideas without execution are nothing
Good video but i wouldn't recommend putting out your own money for water, etc, if the customer is thristy stop at a store, let them run in and buy themselves a drink, it really doesn't affect ratings, it does make the customer feel like they took advantage of you though.
Chris S I agree it doesn't affect ratings much.. But as a new driver it can't hurt while you acclimate to driving.
Thanks for all the info. I just did just second day of driving and I'm still super nervous
Susan S How are you liking it?
So far so good. I'm just doing it between school and work and so far I've gotten steady rides and all of the passengers have been friendly.
Thanks for all this information. Way more help than the company has given. I'll def get some bubble gum and water tho. I need to bump my rating up.
HavocTMA It's your business, go for the gold man! We each do what we feel is best for out success. You'll do great.
Great information. What about what you wear to drive? Formal, casual, Hats, tie, sweats, what is the standard?
+Mike Hubert I wear my standard jeans, nike hat, shirt, etc.
I've been approved to drive with Uber immediately but still have a couple questions I need answering first -
Thanks bro
***** Glad to hear it man! I'm here to help! Uber on!
New to Uber. Thanks for the video! A lot of info that I had not thought about.
You're welcome. Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much for this VERY informative video, I appreciate the time and effort you put into this! Lots of great stuff in there!
+Jared Phillips You're very welcome, and I'd like to thank you for taking the time to watch, and comment. Have a great day.
Thank You! Thank You! You're so right, I've been listening to video after video, trying to get past this apprehension. But after listening to your newbie video, I'm going to do that 1st ride today.
Thanks Uber man. great info and encouragement for us the new Uber driver.
+weeboon Tan Thanks for watching. I'm glad you found it useful. Uber on!
I don't know if it was in Tampa market only but I never had to take pictures of the car I am using for Uber.
i got a great question, what if i get stopped by the police with passengers in it,what should be done? and what should the passenger do?
marlon piedy Be polite, and inform them you are driving passengers for Uber.
crazy in ones criminal background does not discount someone being rehabilitated.
Remember that is people that wont give people a chance that are part of the problem and not the solution.
Thank you for the time you given here. You gave me enough well deserved information.
i enjoy your answers. did classes on defensive driving, and i agree. on passenger ratiog
Much appreciated...and btw I didn't even notice any "screw-ups".
I try my best! Thank you.
Love this vid! You are so authentic Love it...I just signed up this week. and I'm going to try working at this this weekend. Im a bit nervous though., Minneapolis MN
+BodyChoiceNaturals Please check back in and let us know how it went. I wish you all the best out there.
Will do! Thanks!
Informative. Thank you. No need for apologies. ( Melbourne, Australia)
+Louisa Chibert Thank you. I appreciate you watching.
What if you're driving for uber and after the new year, your car turns older than 10 years? What happens then?
+Fastdounut BF They warn you, then deactivate your car.
El'Brohamsillot All very good points! Thank you for the comment!
this was a great video introduction thank you so much for the information As I am a first time driver that will be starting for the first time on Friday. the only thing that you got me thinking about now that i wouldn't even drive is the rating for the drivers. I mean if your not rated high enough how long normally will it take for Uber to drop you. it's not like I'm worried about it I have a full time job plus a part time job so this will be a part part time job lol
+rolando pacheco People worry WAY too much over ratings. I just drive, and forget the ratings. That's the best thing to do.
You make a great recommendation of checking the rider app for activity in your area, but I have a question: How can one have an Uber rider account AND the driver account when your mobile number is already registered to the Driver App?
+ortizmo The same # works fine with both apps.
Thanks.
Uber Man
I can see where you're coming from. Some drivers would abuse the power to get the surges too high. However if you kept the surges between 2.0-2.5x the rates would be fair to both riders and passengers. Do you believe that uber will eventually realize that their current rates will not be sustainable if they want to keep drivers or do you believe they will rely on their revolving door policy and simply replace drivers as quickly as they sign up once the drivers realize the pay is no longer profitable?
when purchasing a new/used vehicle, some dealer owned vehicle may offer a oil change package.
a nearby nissan dealership near me will give lifetime oil change and inspection for $1800
dandanthetaximan actually i told them the car is for uber and they said they don't care,
but yah if you're smart enough you don't tell your insurance/car dealer ships about that but you can ask them about if they have "maintenance package"
Uhsen Li That's a good point, thank you.
Uhsen Li Agreed!
Ripoff! Changing your oil yourself takes 10 minutes, $30 each with synthetic oil each time. So if 4 changes a year, that's 15 years of oil changes. I doubt you'll keep the car more than even 5 years if it doesn't get totaled ubering.
everss02
not everyone's comfortable with changing oil, also they provide inspection too so they can actually see if there's anything else wrong with your vehicle. that alone itself usually cost $60-100
Thank you sir, it was an eye opening for me and I thank you for car info and maintenance of your car.
Kenneth Jackson Thanks for watching, I'm here to help.
I'm watching your newb video now. I should start driving for the first time soon. in the dfw area
Well welcome to the club!!!
Hi Uber man, awesome video! I just started driving yesterday and the traffic is so heavy... how often do you have to reroute little bit in high traffic area or do you have to go exactly what GPS show most of time
UberMan,
produced a great Video.
+William Combs You're welcome man. I'm glad it's working out for you. You'll be a pro in no time at all!
can you tell me why a 4 star rating for driver is a fail and a three star rating for a passenger is an average rating?
+cascasoldier It's just the way Uber is.
This is a great video. Thank you! my husband is starting to be an uber driver in Tulsa!
Does the promo code still work if I've already created an Uber account? I created an account but haven't gone through the background check or anything yet. Don't want to miss out on some free cash!
It has been 3 weeks since I signed up. Still not driving for Uber. Waiting on the BG Check
Sometimes it can take awhile. You can always email partners@uber.com to check on it.
I am in the sign up process, I am waiting for my back ground check. Today I got a texted to put my bank info in. Im not sure if this is really UBER or a scam? What can you tell me about this. Thanks Bill M
It's Uber. You have to enter your bank info in to the uber vault to get paid.
Thank you! I am getting signed up and you made me feel very comfortable about the process... except the puke part lol......looking forward to starting :)
laura harvey Let me know how it goes! Please join us on Uber Man Driver Network on Facebook.
Good talk. I'm all over this. Thanks for sharing this great info.
+CitizenKate Thank you for watching. I appreciate it.
Great job on the video man! You've answered a lot of my questions. 👍
+will berrios Thank you, and if you have anymore questions, feel free to ask.
One question. So when one get paid dose it go straight into your bank account or is it a 3rd party thing?
+will berrios It goes directly to your bank.
I plan on driving select only. What's your experience there? Are they more picky? More responsible? Less puking? Tip more?
+upgrader99 All of the above. However, Uber is no longer letting us drive Select only. :(
Uber Man
that throws a wrench in my works!
Uber Man
that blows... I have a luxury sedan, get probably around 18mpg... the last thing I want to do is worry about breaking even and ending up with wear and tear and puke to top it off...
hmm... That's not very smart of uber in my opinion.... Some people are going to want a nice ride, and "woops... sorry... I'm driving home a drunk 21 year old, 15 miles, at surge who didn't tip me anything...."
Yikes... Anyways.... so drivers have to do everything to stay above a 4.6.
I ask this because Google Maps is constantly updating especially regarding traffic and/or road construction.
dEeM0nEy916 Yes, GM will run just fine and Uber will work great in the background. No issue.
Awesome, thank you for all you do!
Hey Uber Man , do u carry commercial insurance, or just rely on Uber's policy while your driving a customer? Also, are u covered by Uber when you're enroute to pick them up ? Thanks
classrockin I have regular insurance. I rely on Uber. Yes, Uber covers me enroute to a client.
Uber Man ok. thanks !
I just was accepted as a driver, and have to to download the app.
Kinda freaked out about the rating method, and also not accepting pick-ups as one pleases without getting penalized or terminated.
+OnTheFritz602 It is nerve racking. You'll do great.
+Uber Man
Thank you.
+Donn Kellaher It's one fee regardless of how many passengers are in your ride.
how about car insurance? I thought I would keep quiet to see if this works out for me, but at some point I will need to step up. Does UBER offer a supplementary policy?
Yes. Uber carries commercial insurance. You don't have to get anything extra.
Had my 1st busy night surged for 5 hours, had a lot of fun too.
Very nice!! I hope you made a lot of money!!!
sign up complete....waiting for approval. Thanks for the info. Very informative. I also joined your FB group
+Bill Johnston Thank you Bill. Welcome to the club!
