There's just gotta be some way to build a time machine and go back. 🥰
wow I remember. used to watch it every week. especially for Joey Heatherton
Joey was on Dean Martin.
These old dance show clips are fascinating for so many reasons...multiple aspects of pop culture all rolled in to one perfect time capsule: Fashions, hairstyles, music, slang, dancing, products, advertising.
I never knew Michael Landon could sing!! He is awesome. I really love all these fabulous dancers. The 60s are my favorite decade of all. Groovy groovy and more groovy.
I love him, but, he was never a singer. Handsome, talented actor and very focused writer. With his handsome looks and national TV exposure (Bonanza) he brought female viewers just to see his versatility.
Michael was a cutee and could sing. RIP...🙏🙏🙏
Totally agree! I lived through the ‘60’s ! The dancers are the very reason why I watched hallabulloo! And yes I never knew Michael Landon could sing either !
Way back when people were happy and could smile.
.... people Drank a lot back then, they had access to drugs which are considered Sechedule-III now, and they put on Fake smiles.. 🤔
I fell in love with the brunette with the fob hairdo. That's Donna McKechnie from Pontiac, Michigan. What a doll. She went on to Broadway, Dark Shadows and a Chorus Line. I noticed her from my first viewings of the Hullabaloo video. She had IT.
I was a young lass in 1965 but I never missed Shindig or Hullabaloo.
When they cleaned out their Fort Lee, New Jersey warehouse in 1973, NBC decided to "wipe" the master tapes of 'HULLABALOO" in order to to reuse the tape stock for other programs. They contacted producer Gary Smith, and asked him if wanted a complete set of the series' color tapes. He declined- and the tapes were reused [NBC kept the black and white kinnies]. Somehow, three of the half hour color tapes were preserved.
So sad. But even the k'scopes are well worth watching.
Geez.
Those white boots are really cool!
We used to all wear them back in the day in the 60s I had them when I was a little girl and so did all my sisters
Made of white vinyl, they were known as “go-go boots”, and properly so.
@@hebneh yep me and my sisters all had them
I loved my go-go boots
This takes me back. I liked watching the dancers on TV they were sometimes the best part of the show. Especially if the singer or group weren't enjoyable. I remember the girl dancers with those white go go boots. I didn't know that the Bonanza actor Michael Landon was a singer.
This is awesome!! im from a different generation. I think this stuff is the greatest!
It was a fantastic time to be a kid, my friend! 😉
Yes! I remember that show and those great performances and Dancers! 👍👍😎
Great to see an additional talent of Pa Engalls there! 🤠
handsome as ever
Originally Eugene Orowitz.
Wow, Goldie Hawn dancing up there at top left while Paul Revere sings "Steppin' Out", a slightly different sounding version here than the hit single. But sounds terrific! Great energy with all colors and creeds on this show! The best of America.
The music on this show was always top notch. Peter Matz and the NBC orchestra were simply world class, in addition to the whole team that oversaw the visiting singers and bands. I watched over 40 episodes while putting these videos together, and I was quite impressed with the music throughout.
@@johnganun6636 This was a favorite weekly show & very well presented with all the top rock stars of it's time. We always looked forward to watch it every week. 🇫🇷 Arnuad Bourbon Amaral
I think the blonde is Sheila Forbes, not Goldie Hawn.
@@fosbury68 I'm pretty sure it's Goldie. Check out "Hullabaloo Dancers 01 Introduction" for Sheila at the beginning of the video, for reference.
@@filmbuff000 It is not. For id regarding the dancers, check out "Hullabaloo Dancers 01 Introduction"
I really appreciate the dancers! They were awesome!
Wow!
Had no idea this was part of Michael Landon's past.
Haven't seen that first NBC Color Peacock since I were a tot....a warm memory.
Great Stuff.
Lada Edmund, Jr. was so awesome!
Loved those dancers....high school days.
I love that time, I was a kid but I remember it,
PIET MONDRIAN IS THE SOURCE FOR THE SKIRTS OF THE GIRLS IN THE FIRST VIDEO.
I love that time, I was a kid but I remember it, ]
Yep the good old days ... I was born in '58 and I remember these shows .
Cool! There's a video out there on RUclips where one of the Hullabaloo dancers commented on her experience on the show. Also, if anyone watched "Once Upon A Time in Hollywood" - the recent movie - Leo Di Caprio's dancing scene in the beginning is a copy of the clothes Michael Landon and the dancers area wearing!

Go Go boots, I had two pair
Hullabaloo was my favorite show when was I was a teenager.
Thank you for providing all of these wonderful videos, John Ganun!!!
I don't know anything about dance but Donna McKechnie (in the front middle) at 2:05 and 2:48 is stunning.
She really was a remarkable dancer. You have a good eye!
She became Michael Bennett's muse (and wife, briefly) and he made a lot of A Chorus Line for her. It's hard to watch anyone else, because she's so gorgeous and so precise, even doing rock and roll.
@@tomshea8382 And Donna and Michael won Tony's for "A Chorus Line" ( the original Broadway version) in 1976.
Then only reason we have this episode in color is because Michael Landon insisted on being given a color videotape of this episode for his own personal archive.
wow, how do you know that?
@@johnganun6636 MPI home video, who put these out on VHS 25 years ago mentioned it in their publicity.
@@johnganun6636 Also... there are many hardcroe collectors of 60's and 70's music footage, and there is a great deal of discussion between them about what exists, what doens't, where stuff came from, etc. For instance, many of Lulu's shows from the late 60's only exist because Maurice Gibb bought a VERY expensive video tape setup in 1967 and taped his wife's show directly off the air.
@@brockreynolds870 It's all so interesting. I ended up doing this series of videos because I'm researching the dancers of this show, who are very much given a back seat to the all the music acts.
Love it.💚💜💙💜💚
Donna McKechnie and Michael Bennett of Chorus Line fame danced on Hulabaloo. Donna appears front and center and her dancing skill is evident.
My memory is that “Hullabaloo” was originally black & white, then switched to color partway through its run.
I should have watched that show. I was partial to McHale's Navy at the time.
Groo-vee
I love it!
Looking for Michael Nunez’s moms, heard she was drop dead gorgeous go go dancer on this show.
I can ALMOST make out Paul Revere and The Raiders back there behind the dancers. Did they do any closeups of Mark Lindsay singin
You can see where Quentin Tarantino used the Michael Landon clip as inspiration when Rick Dalton does his bit on Hullabaloo in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. . .
totally
WOW !
OMG! The sexiness of young Michael Landon!!!
FAB :)
GEAR 😜
It is a shame about the color ones. With technology today, I would hope someone would colorize them.
I despised Hullabaloo because it rivaled McHale's Navy in that time frame. Needed a second good TV in my bedroom.
You still haven't recovered from this, have you?
@@johnganun6636 😩😩😩😩
why was little joe cartwright there?
was that teresa graves dancing next to micheal landon when he was sining?
That's Barbara Alston
Great show and great guests, but compared to Shindig! or Shivaree, this was too square.
Pop acts singing songs geared towards our parents tastes.
The dancers are great, and the A-Go-Go segment was always good, but as a kid watching for the singing acts, the dance only numbers, were when we ran to he fridge.
Now, as an old guy, I appreciate it more, but still, compared to the others, this show was totally L7.... and that means SQUARE, Dad.
I would guess that it would be square to a teenager. The musical guests - especially during the first year - were a bit sophisticated. Sammy Davis Jr, Jack Cassidy, Dean Jones, Connie Francis, etc. These were not the heart throbs of the day. The sets were a bit artistic, the music director was Peter Matz who went onto do The Carol Burnett Show for most of the next decade. Ultimately, their formula didn't make it past two seasons, but I'm finding some of this old footage fascinating. Check out videos #2 and #3.
Lada Edmund, Junior was awesome.
When it said "In Living Color", I thought it was the Wayans Family's comedy series from the Nineties!
Haaaaa
Bobby Banas, I believe, is one of the male dancers.
It might be. I'm not sure.
I thought I recognized someone - it might be him. Watching the vid again, I think it’s not Bobby, the guys appear to me to be Filipino.
I came to the comments hoping to find confirmation of that! His dancing and look are very distinctive.
@@themermaidstale5008I can tell you that he appeared on Hawaii Five-O a few years later.
What?!.
I just was more into comedy shows at the time in place of musicals. Nice try by NBC. It had the color advantage over ABC and CBS.
I watched 43 of the 46 available episodes earlier this year, and you're right - it was primarily a music show. Wish they had all been saved in color!
1920s dancers
DiCaprio’s performance was influenced by Michael Landon, who knew?
Don't like the song but the Go Go Dancers at the start are great.
Pierre Cardin Dresses
1920s
I don't care for Jerry Lewis.
