You would have had to see it for yourself. When I tell current fans about him, I just say I can't explain it in words. It would be like watching Barry Sanders. Those two were absolutely electrifying. They were special amongst special players. Marino was your favorite quarterbacks favorite quarterback. Barry Sanders was your favorite runningback's favorite runningback. When you spoke to other quarterbacks of his time they usually said when he entered the room he drew the crowd. No real quarterbacks walk up to Marino and speak down to him. The Dolphins got lazy with him at the helm. Football is a team sport. Salute Dan!!
Greatest passer the game has ever known. No one can throw the ball like #13. If the NFL had more time to look through film, there were more passes that he threw that made you nod your head in amazement. There were so many. I understand why they put the record breakers. But, he had a ton of passes that were not on this list that you can say only Dan Marino can throw. IF you never saw #13 play, check out some of the other videos. It really is amazing.
I'm a big Brady/Patriots fan, but this dude is the GOAT when it comes to solely passing the football. The numbers he put up in a time when passing was far more difficult, is nutty. I just saw a stat that he has the most multi TD games in his first 6 seasons with 58. Over a guy like Mahomes who has been tearing the league up, in a much more passer friendly league. That really puts into perspective as to just how good Marino was.
I agree....there was nothing like Sunday afternoons....Marino in those white jerseys slinging the rock and taking on the world. I get goosebumps just reminiscing about it!!!
I remember watch Dan as a young boy learning the game of football and being mesmerized watching him throw the ball. Now as I look back I see just how much more incredible he truly was. He was slow as molasses, but he always knew how to shuffle just a step or two to the side or forward, reset his feet and throw a dart. Honestly watching his footwork is just as incredible as watching him throw. He was a trailblazer and will be my favorite Dolphin till my time on earth is done. If I could talk to Dan himself I would thank him for his hard work and dedication to the Dolphins and it was truly an honor watching him play
Marino was also very deceptive. He understood that defensive concept of follow the quarterbacks eyes, so he'd lock his eyes in one direction, and throw to the opposite. If it was successful, he'd lock eyes again, dip his shoulder to the opposite, then throw to where his eyes were pointed. He was a cunning rascal. His release was an offensive linemans dream.
Only 50? Man there were so many more but I am glad they dug through the archives and found #16. That throw to Tony Paige was pretty difficult. The angle, the defenders, the depth...man what a throw.
Totally disagree, Brady is great in all aspects because he wasn't supposed to be GOAT. He should not have made the roster, because he had nothing but he worked so hard and developed in to machine on the field. He is known to be the best bad weather QB, because he throws with accuracy and velocity. His greatest throwing ability is ONE and that is how beautifully he throws and makes it effortless. The killer mentality, love of the game, commitment to learning nuances, ability to win any kind of game. From game manager to absolutely single handedly take over the game without running game threat. List is long .....

Yawn. 10 points in his last 2 playoff losses. Where was the fluidity?
Really one of the greatest travesties in NFL history. It’s so great to see that Miami is finally starting to put a potentially great team together that could possibly get us there all the way with a SB win and although Dan is in as a QB advisor, he will be more than deserving to wear that ring!

i literally get chills watching this. not because the plays chosen were so great but because i remember watching Dan on television during games. i know what he could do and who he was. more than anything, he was gritty. also, though, he is the most talented passer to ever play the game. it's beautiful to watch, like watching Federer play tennis.
Federer is a winner.
I became a dolphins fan because of this man, hes the ultimate gun slinger..

Naw man. He was the most equipped QB other than Peyton manning to put on a pair of cleats👏
Man Dan Marino threw a beautiful football. He would have put up legendary stats if he played today
The Marks Brothers-- Mark Clayton and Mark "Super" Duper. Dan the Man had a cannon for an arm. Right on the numbers!
Dan the man .. wish he would of won 1 but still was my fav qb of all time
My childhood basically revolved around Marino. Season tix or every Sunday we would be watching in the stands or on the couch.

He’s the standard period 📣
Moon, Montana and Marino had such great vision on the field.
It was a beautiful thing to watch them play the game!
Can’t argue that. But Dan Marino was special☝️

@@sheikhbashirbnb6343 great work ethic by Brady, of course. Also, basically always playing with top 10 defense, paramount in a team sport. Brady wins only 12% of playoff games when he doesn't have a top 10 defense. And that´s a fact.

The good old 90s miss those days
some notable omissions:
- vs Cowboys, 1984: in the last game of the regular season, Marino throws a wild 63 yard TD to Clayton in the final minute to win the game, where he set a new NFL season record with 48 TDs and became the first QB to break 5000+ yards.
- vs Steelers, 1984 AFC Championship: Marino's 3 long TDs to Duper and Clayton.
- vs Bears, 1985: several long rollout bombs to Duper, and the first TD of the game to Nat Moore.
- vs Pats, 1994: In Marino's first game back from his one significant injury, throws for 5 TDs and nearly 500 yards, including 3 TDs to Irving Fryar of 54, 50 and 35 yards, the last on 4th down to win the game, 39-35.
Did they miss the one against Jets in 1985 bombed to Duper?
Not only do I love this video, Dan Marino looks like a very talented 19 year old college kid.
I've been following Dan's career since he was at Pitt. I've never seen a better pure passer.
His Dad taught him how to throw. He told Dan simply, "the ball comes up and out".

The term "pocket passer" was essentially created by and for Dan Marino. Not the fastest or even nimble BUT shifty enough with a simple step or two in any direction within the pocket to avoid the pass rush then followed by arguably the quickest release ever. Purest and most technically sound passer of any QB...past or present day.
There's been quarterbacks that has thrown for more yards and more touchdowns, but the consensus is his 5084 yards and 48 touchdowns in 1984 is considered the greatest single season by a quarterback EVER!
#7 is just as impressive as anything Aaron Rodgers has done. Dan had to his windup and set his feet up again and still rainbowed it 55 yards. And #4 was his first game back coming off an achilles injury, and injury that basically ends a lot of players' careers. It was 4th down and short and he goes deep. Incredible guts. Truly the GOAT.
Throwing for over 5,000 yards and 48 TDs in 1984 is the equivalent of over 7,500 yards and 65 TDs today.
