Damn, I love how they both sound

Classic difference, the Germanium one is looser and has less gain, cleans up better and has more mids. The Silicon one is tighter ,has more gain ,doesn't clean up that well and has a bit of scooped mids. So hard to pick up one! Ended up buying both. Love it!

Thanks for sharing. The ability to clean using guitar volume control is the feature I was looking for. Thanks again for helping me choose.

I noticed I can also clean up with guitar volume using silicone pedals... I still can't understand what's the reason. if anyone knows that please write here!

If you turn down the volume enough you get to voltages that no longer cause clipping. why should it be any different for silicon? (honest question)

Krumpus Plunk I’d like to know too. I think that the way the fuzz circuit is designed, both types of transistors clean up. I’ve heard that the germanium transistors cleans up some more than the silicons ones, not that one is better or worse, it’s just a matter of style/preference I guess. Eric Clapton said that he used germanium fuzz faces because they have “cleaner cleans” than the silicon one. Though specific technical differences I’m not aware of

    Thanks for the video
I'm making pedals and am using germanium for the next version. Also a mix called a Szilicia circuit

Question: How the hell do you get that beautiful vermillion glow to your skin!?

Three pedals that come to mind that need one to gain skills and technique with.
One: Fuzz. (using guitar volume and EQ)...
Two: Wah pedals. (Timing and subtle details)...
Three: Uni-Vibe style pedals. (much feel for the timing on that one)...

The germanium is great sounding, but having owned fuzzes, they tend to be inconsistant because of it. Just get used to changing knobs around. With the Blue Faze, I guessing that you dial that sweet spot and leave it.

Maybe just a defective unit, but mine only works with a separate power supply, not with my daisy chain.. cuts out randomly. Sounds good tho. But disappointing

Ge all the way for me, it’s usable at all those different fuzz settings because it cleans (?) up well but keeps personality. The blue has a cool sound dimed but that’s its one trick.
