I love that you guys are so casual about finding Roman or Tudor pieces and I get all excited when I find a porcelain doll arm from the 1890's, or a little lead dog with white paint while digging in my garden.
You amaze me Simon. First that fabulous swan pipe now this Roman pot. Fantastic! I think you need to take a few pottery classes to make future antiques. Potters often called mud lovers too.
Hi Simon, if you ever need sponsorship, I’m sure a washing machine company would be interested ! I’m glad Nicola didn’t fall face first into the sticky mud. Thanks yet again for a interesting video.
I am beyond impressed with the jug/amphora you created for the Roman spout. It really brings the whole thing to life. Why don't you have 100k subscribers??? Your channel is amazing!

The Scots blood in me is warmed by the smallest of things. The thistle at the intro. Thanks for all that you uncover. It's the little things in life that can have the biggest impact again thank you✌ and Nicole you need to endure to persevere. Looking forward to your first great find with the metal detector. Sometimes you have to dig the tin to see through it.
You always find such awesome things. I love everything roman. They managed to make things last . Roman Coins. The roads. Even jewelry. Its fabulous finds you both had today. ❤
Those mudder boots must weigh a ton. :-) The new Roman vessel looks brilliant. Top job, Si. Wish I was detecting in the field. I'l be back on fields in the next few days.
Wow, Simon, your restoration of the jug is amazing...you never cease to amaze me. I am, at this point, convinced you can do anything! Till next time, take care! xx ~Jen
Amazing how the frogs stopped their song in unison when you approached! Amusing how well Nicola slogged through that deep muck in her Wellies, compared to Simon in his mud boots! Great finds Simon, better luck next time Nic!!
It’s so wonderful that you ‘completed’ the Roman jug! I had to stop watching just to tell you that. It makes the find even more intriguing and beautiful.
Excellent episode! That reconstruction was top-notch work; I wouldn't expect better in a museum. Loved seeing the beads and so forth at the end of the video too, and the coins-- Roman coins always make me laugh a little, because we see them with these archaic men in armor with swords and spears and all on the reverse, but at the time of their making what the people using them saw were state-of-the-art military men in full gear, just as if we put soldiers with AK-47s and tanks on our coinage. Very weird.
You make those boots look a lot easier than they are! Lol poor Nic was like....I’d rather just use my boots! I love when y’all collab ❤️. The restored pot you did was really nice! Great job.
I saw a gold Roman coin on eBay from the reign of Claudius. $100,000 a little out of my budget! So I'd be happy finding a bronze one like yours, but unfortunately there weren't many Romans over this way! Albeit, there is a sunken Roman galley in Brazil. The Brazilian government shut down archaeological dives on it after the Italian ambassador suggested Rome "discovered" Brazil and Italian citizens be given instant citizenship like the Portuguese. When the Brazilian ambassador said "No!", Italian communities in Brazil rioted. Awesome video, dude! I want a Roman coin from the reign of Tiberius ....
@@c.c.9539 It is there!!! Guadalajara Bay or something like that. Historians dismiss it as being a derelict that washed over from West Africa during a Hurricane, saying no one would be survived if there were people on board, *BUT* , Portuguese explorers in the 1500s recorded encountering blonde haired, blue eyed tribesmen in the Amazon!!!! But yeah, after the Italian riots in 1980 Brazil put their Navy in charge of keeping people away from that wreck! Fisherman had been pulling up amphorae in their nets there and that is how it was found.
It was so funny seeing Nicola trying out those mudder boots.😄 Those were some neat finds especially the old coke bottle. Love how you added the clay to piece together with the broken pottery top.
Loved this video. Amazing what you did with the pot Si. Nicola looked like she was going to fall backwards with those shoes on at one point!! Thanks for posting.
I just really enjoy seeing you and Nic exploring together, Simon. You both have so much fun! Seeing the two of you at 13:37 in those mud boots were like Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Dumber! LOL! BTW, you did a brilliant job recreating the Roman amphora. Really enjoyed your opening to this video as well. Thank you, Simon!
Very enjoyable show, thanks for all the effort, walking in sticky mud really saps the energy no matter what the footwear. You got great rewards and the refurbished roman jug is a fitting tribute, well done both of you 😃

Very interesting duet mud larking/detecting, always exciting unearthing Roman artefacts, Mud larking I only ever did once on the River Orwell foreshore near Pin Mill, going ok till a cargo ship came past leaving a tidal wash that swamped me. Well done both of you.

Wow. Very impressed with your mudder clogs. It does look a bit more difficult than i first thought. Stick is a great idea for balance . Roman finds are pretty terrific - coins in the field, and those shards. Si, you are a patient genius to make the amphora from the Roman bottle neck. Very nice to see how to make the finished jug.
