    Do you have any tips to go from kumite to mma sparring? Or even mma to kumite. I love your videos man. Keep it up!

    • @SENSEIJASON
      @SENSEIJASON  3 года назад +8

      Yes, you can still be sharp shooter/sniper, and utilize your footwork and distance. Where you need to modify is following through your techniques with power, as well as movement in closer ranges. In karate shotokan, we usually pull our punches meaning, we contact and pull the hand back to our waist, demonstrating a point was scored. But in real combat you really only want to pull back as far as your chest or chin. Try those out to start, also learn some grappling!

      Hey brother thanks for stopping by! I will say that I don't really have any desire to compete these days, but I will never say never. My honest opinion is that point style sparring competitions are very politically biased, and many judges will already have a "Winner" in mind before the match has even started. Maybe one day though.. I actually do want to try competing in BJJ or Judo one day too. So we shall see.
      What I believe in most is consistent long term training, the Budo lifestyle of Karate.

    Coach you should keep your guard up including your arms because you well get knocked out easly
    I'm a green belt kumite and also a muay thai player
    When I do sparring in kumite I always making sure that my hands in 45 degrees and sometimes close to my face because this will allow you to counter and block more easily
    Wish you the best

    • @SENSEIJASON
      @SENSEIJASON  3 года назад +2

      I my friend I don’t compete any more because I believe competition is way too politically biased. It’s good for youth and early training. But my view is about martial arts is from a Budo perspective. Lifestyle training and always striving to improve. If I want to train with others I will attend seminars and visit other dojos. But for me personally I no longer believe competition is necessary. I believe in consistent long term training.

    Hi jason san, can you make a video about returning to karate after a long time ?

    • @SENSEIJASON
      @SENSEIJASON  3 года назад +1

      The best advice I can give for starting again is.. just "start". That's the only way. There is no perfect time to start. Just start now, and stay consistent. Everything depends on your personal goals however.

    Hola como anda,,, perdóneme por el comentario,, no lo hago ofensivamente ,, solo doy mi opinión sobre lo que vi en su video,,, digamos que la demostración estuvo bien, pero totalmente falta de velocidad ,, explosión y nada de kime ,,, por mas que solo sea una demostración creo en lo.personal debería haber sido mucho.mas explosiva para que uno pudiera ver que su técnica de kumite está bien desarrollada y aplicada,,, en este caso particular nada de esto se mostró,,, kumite es kumite y se debería practicar como tal,,, espero mi.comentario pueda ser útil,,, gracias ,,oss

    • @SENSEIJASON
      @SENSEIJASON  2 года назад +1

      Thank you for your feedback, I will try to improve for future demonstrations. My mindset is not to always be explosive. My mind sent is to be calm and controlled. And when the situation is right, I can explode. It is not necessary to explode on my partner who is just standing there and not moving.

    • @rvz7943
      @rvz7943 2 года назад +1

      Hola como anda ,,, entiendo lo que usted me explica,,, le agradezco su respuesta,,, pero tengamos en cuenta que kumite aunque sea práctica debe ser explosivo,,,, de esa manera uno puede ir mejorando dentro de su dojo y con un compañero que uno debería atacar con velocidad y fuerza para poder también de esa manera tener control y no lastimarlo,,, y el compañero como bien dise usted , esta parado,,, y no debería ser así ya que el debería estar saliendo o al menos defendiendo sus ataques,, sino entrena uno solo atacando,,, cuando podrían ya estar trabajando ambos a la vez,,, uno atacando el otro defendiendo,, no nos olvidemos que el otro oponente no se va a quedar parado como nuestro compañero,,, ataque y defensa en kumite,, estaría buenísimo lo trabajará junto con su compañero, es mi apreciación nomas,,, esto se lo comento con todo el respeto que ésteres se merecen,,, seguramente lo hacen,, solo que como vi esto en este video en particular,, le marque este detalle que eso nada más,, un detalle,,, gracias por su respuesta,,, oss
