    I remember a class session where we did a lot of back and forward move drills involving that bouncing movement. It wasn't until later that I realised how much of a toll it took on my calves. So yeah, when performing Karate - especially Kumite - it pays to build up and strengthen your calf muscles. Speaking of Kumite, I was amazed at how quickly high intensity sparring can drain and tire me out. It made me understand why competitive fighting is usually split into rounds of about 2 minutes.

    Hello Jason,
    Thank you so much for this vidéo. Explains are very good.
    When i started kumite, there was only linear moves. Now, the New génération uses circular and latéral moves. It's better for karatékas and for audience.
    It's more interesting.
    Thank you. Philippe.

    Great video! Could you please to make a video to explain about the rules of WFK kumite? I am confused, don't know why the judge don't give me the point when I hit the opponent, for example, how to do a good zanshin to get point by punches and kicks, what is the difference between a leg sweeping and low kick, what is good form, what is bad?

    • @ULTIMATEKARATEOFFICIAL
      @ULTIMATEKARATEOFFICIAL  3 года назад +1

      Wkf scores definitive and clean techniques usually. Sweeping is usually to off balance or trip your opponent. Leg kick is to kick leg.

    That is the 90's foot work. So many things has changed since then. Don't drag your rear foot, use it as a spring. Don't touch your heels on the ground. Lunge your upper body forward, don't make it a dead weight.

    Good stuff bro! One day I may make a trip to the Bay Area and maybe we can train one day. What did you think of the Mayweather Logan bout? Me personally I'm impressed with Logan's conditioning and then i don't think Mayweather gave his best or maybe father time got the best of him...i just flat out though Mayweather used only 3 out of 6 gears while Logan maybe used 4 or 5 out of his 6 gears....but as always your content is 🔥 and i always look forward to your videos and there ain't any bulls$!+ in it..lol.

      Thanks Stan, well at the end of the day Logan and Mayweather made a shit ton of money. I’m pretty sure that was there main incentive. Can’t blame em though, smart business men. As for the fight itself I saw some highlights, Floyd looked like age has caught up to him, and he actually said he was surprised by Logan Paul. Floyd said he didn’t expect him to fight the way he fought. Then again, height and weight played a major advantage on Logan’s end.

    Hey man I have a question: when doing kizami zuki should our front foot point directly at opponent or to the side like in our usual kumite stance? Thanks in advance Jason you have always been helpful

      I believe you can slightly angle into position. But I believe you should be able to throw your jab from any angle and position. This is what they call on boxing the “educated” jab.

    Hey brother KARATE-ka I am going to probably go against the majority opinion here, but I haven't read the other comments yet so I dont know. I trained in SHOTOKAN also under SENSEI OKAZAKI and I believe this instructor to be wrong. Bouncing up and down as footwork isn't solid at all. First of all this instructor said himself that he is bouncing and will need to have his feet on the ground before he can attack or block. Anyone who is familiar with fighting SHOTOKAN KARATE ka knows how fast some can clear the distance from point a to point b with a stepping punch or mae geri...and let's suppose you are in the up part of your bounce. I guarantee that someone using this method body movement will get hit almost every time. I do think he is correct in that there needs to be some preparation for an encounter, however I suggest keeping the heels slightly off of the floor and be able to use your hips and pivot to the 45 degree angle on the ball of your foot. This way you maintain continual contact with the floor. The other issue with this is what about when your opponent gets your timing down and sweeps your lead leg? I also like that he said he is lowering his center. I have seen some incredible people who are so fast in SHIFTING their bodies out of attack range with proper hip shifting techniques.
