PROBITAS/VERITAS-A Rum You Need

- Whether you bleed 151 or think rum is disgusting, there’s one I think deserves a place in your home bar-Probitas. Probitas (Veritas everywhere but the US) is made by Foursquare in Barbados, which, despite it’s small size, is one of the most decorated rum distilleries in the world. Inspired by Luca Gargano of La Maison and Velier and blended by Richard Seale, Probitas blends the flavors of two of my favorite rum-producing countries-Barbados and Jamaica.
For the curious, the esters pictured are Ethyl butyrate (bottom left) and Ethyl acetate. Fun Fact: Butyric acid by itself smells like vomit. Once combined with ethyl alcohol, the resulting Ethyl Butyrate smells like pineapple.

Yep can confirm. This rum definitely fucks. It's like a superior version of Plantation 3 star, which already is a great workhorse white rum.

Mine has been Plantation 3 Stars, yet I will find, and switch to, Probitas because your recommendation is sufficient for reasons already mentioned, especially since I’ve been wanting a more overproof white, and this video could not have come at a better time! Thank you, as always, Mr. Zoschke! In rum, as in vino, veritas!

Discovered Probitas early pandemic. Amazing bang for the buck.
Yuuuup. Out of curiosity how do you drink it? I enjoy it neat but beyond that have never made it past daiquiris, as I think this shines so bright in that drink.

Had a bottle of Probitas for a few weeks. Uncorked it today, did a smell, taste test and then made a daiquiri. And then made another daiquiri. I am thinking it might go well in a Painkiller. Wonder what other cocktails it will be good in.

I have read that plantation named OFTD because the 7 wisemen involved in the blending exclaimed "oh fuck that's delicious" . I must admit to a similar declarative when I first tasted Probitas. I bought it with a bit of an eye roll, "ok, a $30 fifth of white with alot of hubbub" . Hubbub deserved, it's spectacular. Buy it and serve a probitas daiquiri to any Bacardi weened friend that you wish to convert to rumminess.

This "white rum" is as good as a sipper as smith&cross and Gunpowder Proof Pusser's. Now although I perfer S&C and Pussers Gunpowder flavors typically over the Probitas the fact that Probitas is so packed with flavor and light yellow and Gunpowder has the clarity of molassas and SC is copper. The props clearly go to Probitas for doing more with less! ....yes I know SC and GPP most likely embellish with caramel colorant and sweetner but are heads and tails above the likes of bacardi morgan kraken ect ect

I pick up every Exceptional Cask Series I can, but I think I may have missed that one. Or it could just be hiding somewhere in my liquor wall. I buy it faster than I drink it, which is a problem 🤓

@@atothek302 FS hosted a dinner near me a couple weeks ago. Four courses with paired drinks, and Isonomy was the first pour. I had never had it and it blew my mind as well. I don't know where I was when this was available but I regret not getting a bottle when i had the chance. It was too good.
