    Sounds to me that the Dali's have a warm, full bloodied sound with good bass extension and rich mid range and whereas the ATC's deliver a more accurate, transparent, analytical sound - So for lovers Rock, fusion go for the Dali's for the Classical music lovers, light jazz and vocals go for the ATC's.

    • @zedalive4764
      @zedalive4764 Год назад +5

      pretty much all ATC's are flat frequency response speakers, the philosophy of this manufacture is to produce as accurate speakers as possible. Dali's accentuate bass and select part of the treble responsible for lush and details ('prestige'), the philosophy of that manufacture is to produce as attractive sound as possible, but not necessarily the most realistic sound possible. in my opinion it's easier to get a good sound with speakers like Dali, while quality flat response speakers like ATC require much effort to get that magic out of them - however if you succeed, the magic from them will be a real one. the rest is pretty much about the type of music the audiophile is listening to. there's music which simply requires flat response speakers to make it sound real and great, while there's also music which speakers like Dali will reward with a great sound

    A classical comparison would have been good.
    I have had my Rubicon 2's for a few years now and they get (a lot) better as they age. It was a few hundred hours before I began to appreciate just how good they were.
    Based on your video if I was making a decisions now having not heard either before, I would probably go with the ATC 11's. I liked their pace and energy. They felt a bit more lively and dynamic to me. I won't be swapping my Rubicon's out though. I love them too much.
    Curious as to what amp you were using to drive them both.

I think that amp would handle them but I would advise you to find a way to demo them with your own kit and ideally in your own room before making the decision. thanks. I think I did not know what I was doing here in the rubicon recording 😅 -- doesn't sound accurate how it is in real life (volume is lower than ATC clip and the position is near the floor thats why all the mids are lost in the bass), also ATC was using silver cables. (it was shot on different days). So apologies and good ear for noticing something was off in the rubicon clip. For an accurate recording, see my later recordings of the Rubicons. That said, ATC I think still has unmatched mids and was less fussy about mic placement.

I just want a more muscular sound since, like you (B&W 705), my speakers (Dali Rubicon) are also quite unforgiving.
      Yes the internal dac is kinda lean sounding especially when I compare it to the Schiit modi multibit ($250) which are my current favorite. I suggest get a warmer dac (wolfson is also good match since its warmth can balance onkyos brightness and B&W are very detailed)

I would go with the ATC if I need "precision" (if I'm "anal" about hi fi)... After listening everything and coming back and forth, I think the ATC is a more balanced loud speaker and is more revealing (acoustic part). I'm surprised to find the ATC very musical ! Maybe the bass is a bit to round and strong with the Dali. During the "rock" part, the electric guitar from the ATC is simply WOW ! Thanks for the demo !

    Thanks for sharing this interesting test, my impression is that Rubicons are more easy listening even if accurate they seems to have more spatial sound (that as mr. Carver teaches means kind of millisecond delay) SCM11 it's harder but as many other guys here say, faster and accurate, also to me seems that they need a super power to be better driven but the thing is, they're very good speakers at all, maybe if you have a super analytic amplification you better go to Dali otherwise you'll loose the fun, with a Super Duper but delicate sounding Yamaha CA2010 you'll be able to catch the semi hidden details with ATCs... you know what? at the end nothing compares with a personal test with your system, i miss the old hi-fi stores to go and test before buy

    • @connorduke4619
      @connorduke4619 2 года назад

      Very good analysis. The sonic differences are also due to design decisions. The Danish school (Dali and also Dynaudio) go for ports which gives deeper but at the tradeoff of less control (slower transients, muddier). The Danes also roll of the treble to make bad recordings more listenable but it also makes female vocals unnaturally dark and also they exaggerate the mid-treble to compensate for the lack of extension.. The ATC dual suspension tweeter allows it to roll off higher while maintaining treble control and without the need for a mid-treble hump.

Ive only heard a few amt tweeter speakers like the wharfedale evo and also thought they did not sound coherent and the tweeter dispersion was not as omnidirectional like standard domes. Regarding dali vs atc, i much prefer the dali and it is my current favourite among all the speakers ive tried and heard. Its true that they are effortless since they indeed measure with the lowest distortion compared to many other brands. If there is one thing the rubicon is a bit lacking on, its probably sub bass. In my room they only go down until 45hz. The atc had great mids but i found them a bit boring with almost no bass (only 58-60hz in my room) and too mid centric for my taste

      Christelle S considering atc is used by many artists in studios, i think ATC voices are more correct/realistic.
