I believe that any director who wants to make any action film should watch this scene every night before going to bed! The actors' expressions, the shots, the camera movements, the music... everything fits together perfectly! Sumptuous and masterful
@@michaelottway6553 Yeah. Great thing about Steadicam operating, it just stays with you. Never let 'em out of your sight. I mean, we could talk about it all day if we needed to.
Every time I watch this scene I pray he makes the train.........I know the ending.....but I still give my hopes up thinking maybe this time.......Carlito makes the train. Such an iconic movie
One of the best scenes ever made, the tension De Palma manages to bring is simply great, acting, camera, soundtrack, everything is perfect. Al Pacino proving once again why he is one of the best actors in history
One of my favorite Al Pacino movie. Brilliant - all the actors. I really think that this is one of the best Sean Penn’s role. Of course, Al Pacino is the most talented actor of all times. I actually had a section of this book read by my students to trace the stages of the “fallen hero”, the man who fails because of his flaws and street code of honor.
This is one of the greatest sequences ever shot The chase and how it all leads to the climax The suspense They didn't opt for a big shoot out to end things They really took their time and built up to that point in a beautiful suspenseful way Carlito all alone with one clip and having to make it count when the time is just right. And they didn't forget that either cause with the last survivor on his tail after the clip was empty he needed a miracle. And he gets one in the form of the cops catching up to the guy It's a brilliant sequence
What a masterpiece of a film. Every scene is this chase is so compelling. An absolute classic. Although the Mafia boss sure picked the wrong team for a fast chase !
Not for nothin, i set dressed all those train cars with Production designer Mr. Dick Sylbert. It was a damn honor. I felt like a big shot! #imreloaded ✨️🥰💯
AL PACINO what a awesome actor who has made absolutely brilliant movies with this Quality masterpiece then Scarface then The Godfather 1and 2 The Irishman then Heat and Donnie Brasco then Scent of a Woman also Sea of Love and Serpico.
This is Brian DePalma film. He is a unique director and one of the best of all time. The scenery and the people. You never know who might just appear out of the corner of the screen. Which made the ending that much bittersweet. A masterclass in film.
A Brian De Palma specialty, he always slyly foreshadows an impending incident by giving visual hints before. Like in the an earlier sequence in Pool hall, a door in the background is strangely being opened ajar.
Who would have thought that Johnny Boy Saprono would end up chasing Carlito. Doesn’t he also appear in this movie to take out Sean Penn at the hospital.
The logistics of the shootout don’t work but it’s a cool scene. Look, if you’re lying down in an escalator and guys from above can’t see you or hit you, you can’t see or hit them either. Thats how it works. If anything it should be easier for them as they have higher ground, but there’s no way Pacino could shoot them with that kind of accuracy while lying down. He’s aiming up over his head, they’re standing up and pointing down. They can more easily duck in and out.
What I was wondering is why Carlito didn't shave and get a haircut as he tried to evade the mob killers. If they ran into him, they would think it was Michael Corleone ;)
Al should have sat with De Niro long time ago and give him some advice on why legendary award winning actors should stick to their craft and when old retire with dignity into the sunset and remain relevant for what they were and represent and revel in their past accomplishments instead of venturing into politics and making a fool of himself. The Gene Hackman approach.
Universal ... let's have a conversion. You guys have a fine clip here. Good film making. One of my fave movies ... But I noticed you edited out some dialogue. I'm assuming you don't wanna offend people. Or maybe RUclips will not give X amount of money for cussing. Fine. But good lord. The amount of violence in this scene. Where are our priorities? That we can't say bad words or show boobies... But shooting a guy to death is perfectly fine?

This scene was very similar to what Brian DePalma did in Dressed to Kill.
@@justinjames6140 Yes, it's true. You can see his characterization of the way of directing a film
Benny Blanco is a common, little murderer.
De Palma has best tracking Steadicam shots, I especially loved his Snake Eyes cinematography

Brilliant camera work
The best: AL PACINO
Carlito didn't make it, but Al was doing Penelope during the entire production. Must be nice 😂
Best chase scene ever.
This movie is underrated
DePalma's long handheld camera scenes always give me a pleasant dizzy spell.

Best Al Pacino movie
One of my favourite scenes of this movie
You can see Benny run by @8:50
Hey remember me?? Benny blanco from the Bronx. Not that wimpy singer with the same name that clearly took it from me.
This movie is why Al Pacino is better than De Niro
Al Pacino's best acting performance.
Grand Central by Patrick Doyle, perfect!
Jon Leguizamo is a vampire.
Típical puertorican smarts.
"Nah,you stay here" is missing
Way beyond Cool is Al Pacino in this movie
Brilliant assassin, he followed the cameraman all the way
A Brian De Palma specialty, he always slyly foreshadows an impending incident by giving visual hints before. Like in the an earlier sequence in Pool hall, a door in the background is strangely being opened ajar.
Fantastic movie with terrific actors ❤❤❤❤ love it. Robert Bridgend Wales

The music quite over the top for this film and scene wasn't it?
Why does everyone run like that? They run like cartoon characters.
RUclips's great, they censure the cuss words, but show the murders :)) The level of hypocrisy in society is absurd.
This is exactly the situation we're in right now zielinsky is Kleinfeld
*Hey remember me?! Benny Blanco from the Bronx!*
Super action film

Al Cool Talented Genius Pacino
Serpico and Scarface and Carlito's Way extra Cool
Super 👍
american is very hard working make beautiful movies in love and bussniess vs animals and action movie❤
Solo De Palma poteva girare sto film. Solo Lui.

Somebody's annoyed with De Niro's stance.😂😂😂
Gene Hackman was also involved in politics
Benny Blanco from the Bronx.

She accepted to rise her legs under the sheet just to get fame and a share of his action
Soo disgusting !
