You could learn how to play this crisply and clean pretty easily. What you need to do is to get the right practice and not do like I did and spoil 25 years of trying to play as fast as I possibly could. The last five years I have only been practicing to right the mistakes I did wrong by trying to play fast. By learning to play correctly and slowly speed will come naturally. What you need to learn is technique and to understand that technique does NOT equal playing fast. Trying to play "fast" will only teach your muscles to play sloppy because you will always be pushing your ability to play good! This is the most important piece of advice to any instrumentalist that I can come to think of, and one that took med 20 to 25 years to realize unfortunately.
hurrth werm couldn’t agree more. Been playing over 20 years and mostly just played what I liked. But I improved greatly by taking on a project that involved rock from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. All music that was before my time and much slower than Metallica, which is my favorite of all time.
discovered Extreme in the 90's and they still bringing the fire!! still got the licks the sound, and the pipes. its like you guys never left- rock on dudes!
So are they like, the ONLY band still doing their songs in their originally recorded key? Everybody else tunes down a half or whole step while Extreme still kicks a$$!
To the parents, who tell their kids that there is no such thing as monsters.... either you've never heard Nuno play the guitar - or you just choose to leave that out. Fair enough. But monsters do exist... just listen to Nuno!
So many bands from 80s had great shredders, but no other band had the compositional complexity, or groove as Extreme. And they work as a band, not as a support act for a shredder. Multipart harmonies. And Pat Badger is awesome. He has the chops and can easily double Nuno's grooves, but he serves the group first too. I naturally contrast Extreme to the other uber-talented band from the same era, Mr. Big, which IMHO, was a case of the whole being less than the sum of parts. They were too hair metal and too mainstream to hold my interest, while Paul Gilbert's solo and Racer X works are much more interesting. Part of the problem is also unchecked overplaying by Sheehan. Maybe its enough to have just one instrument play mad fillers throughout the song (like with Nuno and Extreme, or Eddie and van Halen), instead of what happens in Mr. Big.
Sounds like he hit a chord and while letting it ring, engaging a flanger pedal. (Actually the sweep sounds like an older '70s Electro Harmonix Mistress.)
1:36 Is it just me or does the bassist have a better voice than the lead singer?? It's pretty close! Actually all of the band members can sing. But that bassist killed that!
Patrick really has a great voice. Go back and listen to their Queen medley from the 90s Freddie Mercury Tribute concert. He's singing all the high parts that Roger Taylor from Queen used to sing. He sings the high harmonies on Small Town Beautiful as well. Kills it.
They just nailed this song - I mean it's like this is live???? Really??? Incredible! Everyone was right on point!
Bill Boguniecki I saw them Summer, 2015. It's like this. I was impressed.

Nuno is amazing! Just a Rat pedal and unlimited fluid raw melody. It’s so refreshing to the earlobes!!!
Got to admit im a newcomer to Extreme but im hooked, Nuno plays parts that sound like they would normally take 2 people to achieve

That drummer is a groove monster!

A (sort of) quote from the movie Office Space?
No one will ever see this post, but.... Extreme is the most underrated band eva!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't wanna say too much but you know that boy nailed it.
"Extreme" says it all!
I saw them, 7 june, 1994 with Aerosmith, on "get a grip tour". Bettencourt was exactly the same man.
some say he stopped aging at 26
It's so funny the way Cherone makes arm gestures, somehow reminds me of J. K. Simmons character in Whiplash
Holy sh*t! Freakin AMAZING live performance!
2021 😘
Brutal!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💪🏼
The King. Nuno 🎸🎸🎸🎸👑👑💖😉🎶😻
good
Wait!? Why did this tune not break the top 10 list?
Clowninabag probably because it wasn't released as a single and when the album was dropped, this kind of rock was on its way out.
is this the first Nuno Bettencourt solo without the extreme tapping
So are they like, the ONLY band still doing their songs in their originally recorded key? Everybody else tunes down a half or whole step while Extreme still kicks a$$!
JBlinky67 both Nuno and Gary sing in high keys and have naturally high voices.
@@SantomPh even still

Always amazing, but the sound recoring of the Extreme shows are always poor...

Backing vocals are not live 😅
лушая группаЕХТРЕМЕ.нУНО БЕТЕНКУРТ
FUCK YEAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!
4:23 - 4:25 how does he playing the guitar?
Sounds like he hit a chord and while letting it ring, engaging a flanger pedal. (Actually the sweep sounds like an older '70s Electro Harmonix Mistress.)
+ceaser It's a phaser effect on his guitar
Its an effect that uses Paul Gilbert
It's a Flanger on a Boss GT8
Pay
Gary sings better as he gets older
I dont wanna diss exteme..monster band but wo nuno..who?
Hey when did Wolverine pick up the Extreme drumming gig?
sounds like the child that would have had Van Halen and Aerosmith
sure, on a planet where two men can have a baby with eachother
+Vasco Muijsers pretty sure he was using a metaphor :/. Nice try though. that and Aerosmith are a while band.
Yes! It is like late 80's Aerosmith, isn't it?

Gary Cherone sucked ass! Omg, when he fronted VH it was pathetic live.
누노는 기타로 2인분을 하네 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Bob Ross on drums
I didn't know Bob Ross could play drums.
Cherone is zzz and their songs are 🧀
boring
Gene Ruffalo I'm guessing you're from Wisconsin.
