    I lost 25 lbs mostly through skating alone. Haven't really changed my diet much at all. Skating is easier when you're leaner. It is what it is. Hopefully I've also added a few years to my life but who knows.

    I’m 43. Need to loose about 40. Just got another pair of blades. Had a recent medical issue and can’t drive for 6 months. Got and e bike some skates and a park 5 miles away.
    You’re an inspiration!!

    Congratulations Ricardo! I'm also a PT and have done a fair few diets in my life, it does require commitment and 20kg is a very significant amount.

    I’m 43 and a cat scan has found unusually sized lumps in my lungs. I don’t smoke. Specialists have recommended regular exercise four times a week , to improve lung functionality and lose some weight. Skating twice a week was just not enough. I saw Ricardo’s video and decided to , like him, start small. I started with something I enjoy, basketball training drills that I did in my teens , followed by jogging laps around the courts. I was astonished how out of shape I was and how aggressive rollerblading really didn’t keep me fit from ages 20-43. I’m slowly building each week to get healthy again.

    Good job Mr Lino, very impressive !!
    I am at the same stage at 44years, almost 100 kilos, skating for 31 years and starting to slow a bit down. I have for the last 10 years always made a small reset every summer holidays, eat better, less frequent, and work out / skate. My best result I have done with keto and carnivore diets, and also just one meal a day, but you need to focus. I also have some issues with feet and knees not always feeling well so I am now going to try barefoot / wider footwear. I also strength train with kettlebelll, very important to train muscels to boost that metabolism. Also looking into starting trail running, but for now I walk a lot.
    I will thank my obsession with rollerblading for my good health. I will never stop, just transition more into powerblading and wizard skating. And I am also lucky to have a small crew of friends who also skate.
    Keep moving people, health is the most important thing in life !!

      Funny to see you seem to have picked similar ways to spend that "midlife crisis" 😅 41yo here, also got into keto, fasting kind of stuff (some of which managed to stick to this day still), and also tumbled down the barefoot rabbit hole (and made the full switch a few months ago :)) 😂
      Very grateful I got back into skating at some point, it gives me a lot of mental peace as well, that wonderful state of flow & focus 🙏 I think it's is very valuable ( and one of the most beautiful gifts to yourself) to find activities that make you look forward to physical activity instead of regarding it as a necessary evil. It works to enrich your life in so many aspects :)

    Remember about the sleeping conditions since that's an easy one to forget. If you've been sleeping on a comfy/plushy/soft/etc. mattress, a harder surface (or, some people like hammocks!) could do wonders for your back.

    I relate hard on not being able to skate as fast as I used to be able to.
    Wearing baggy clothes to feel better, but still end up looking fat when wind blows against me 😢
    Time to change some things….
    Thanks for making this video Ricardo!

    What an interesting upload & congratulations on your new fitness level. I am 10 years older than you, and started skating as an activity to get me off the sofa. I need to loose 8kg so will do longer skates (at least 20 Km) as often as possible and…. I need to eat less big meals and, less beer 🍺
    Thank you!

    Great job, Ricardo! 💪 I've lost 15kg myself in the past year and my main reason was my health. Not my health _right now,_ but in twenty, thirty years. I see losing weight as an investment in my future wellbeing. We're both 43 (well, almost, still one month to go), now's the time to start thinking of how well we will age. 🙂 (And I intend to keep on skating till I'm 90. 😎)

    I lost 50 pounds, which I credit mostly to long-distance street skating in addition to intermittent fasting, and prioritizing grass fed meat and organic produce. The weight starts melting off quickly. Clean diet and consistent intense workout will do it! Inline skating is almost the perfect workout throw in some weight training, and you're on beast mode! Also, make sure to stretch as much as possible!

    I do distance skating (dont know if thats the right way to say it) and it helps me a lot to be active. I'd say it's similar to running, regarding how much you burn. Downside is, that you need good streets/ways to do that. Running is more flexible

    :) 42 myself started skating at 15... 72kg at one point, not thin, but had my 4-5cm layer of fat... started doing 10k then 20k and 40k session skating.. Lately, picked up bouldering. This changed a lot of my core and upper body and I think it complements well with skating, went down to 68 but replaced a lot of the fat into muscles... It was easier to lose fat weight than get muscle mass. Now trying to get even more lean... Take care of your body, it's worth it..!

    Good luck - tracking calories works but people tend to put it back on. I know so many people who were sucsessful only to put it back on again. Then the next time your body responds less.
    I so wish I could go back and tell myself just to do a little more exercise, eat a little healthier, less sweet treats more veg more protien. Good luck with keeping it off!

    You look very fit Ricardo. Lol the activity tracking on the map! 😆😆 ...oh no...running, nope! not for me. Actually I chose inline skates cause I hate running (I also think is bad for your knees). Distance skating I think is better. (I'm not, I like wizard).

    • @that_which_is_not
      @that_which_is_not 21 день назад

      Hey, running isn’t necessarily inherently bad for your knees. It can be, but it’s dependant on your form, your footwear, where you run (off-road or on-road) and how far and how often you run.
      We’ve been running since the beginning of human history, it’s hard but incredibly mentally rewarding when you become attuned to the rhythm of the movement.
      I skate, run and rock climb. It really works for me

    Losing 20kg (44 lbs) in two months is around 4-5 pounds a week, that's an absolutely insane amount of weight and there's no way it only came from fat, that's just not possible. I assume you don't lift so it's impossible to know exactly how much muscle mass you've lost, but that'd also be an interesting data point.
    Either way, congrats with the achievement, but please be careful !

    one meal a day is the solution

    • @sw1tchmast3r73
      @sw1tchmast3r73 22 дня назад +3

      See when you say something like this, you need to expand upon it a little more. Because one meal for one person could be a Big Mac fries and a soda.
      Or chicken potato’s and a salad?
      What’s one meal for you per day?
      Do you snack ? What do you snack on?
      Know what I’m saying? Gotta elaborate for people that just can’t grasp “one meal per day.”

    • @fridolineelbo
      @fridolineelbo 22 дня назад +1

      @@sw1tchmast3r73 well you can do some research on this. Of course this one meal must contain all your needed nutrients. No snacks, that's the most important. Your body uses the time when he is not working on digestion on repairing damage. But if you eat all day there is no rest. Thanks for the comment❤

    • @that_which_is_not
      @that_which_is_not 16 дней назад +1

      We evolved as humans eating more than one meal a day. Intermittent fasting is a great alternative option. You’re right in that we shouldn’t be eating constantly though.
      Main problem today is people eat non nutrient dense foods and don’t like movement. Eat well, move and stress the body a little and you’ll never be overweight. It’s incredibly simple
