It is so disappointing that we endometriosis patients continue to see misinformation spouted on national platforms. A corrected segment should be posted. This misinformation continues to set back endometriosis patients and leads to the absolute butchering of us as "treatment" options. As another comment noted, endometriosis is not misplaced endometrium, but endometrium-like tissue. It is not the same. These lesions can also be found throughout the entire body, not just the pelvic cavity, though, yes, outside the pelvic cavity such as thoracic, cutaneous, gastrointestinal, etc. While surgery is the definitive diagnostic method, MRIs and ultrasounds can often detect deep infiltrating endometriosis, however, they cannot rule out superficial endometriosis and do not provide a histological diagnosis of the lesions. There is no cure for endometriosis and the only treatment to "reduce" lesions is surgery with excision surgery being the gold standard. Yes, hysterectomy and oophorectomy can, in some people, reduce pain, but endometriosis lesions produce their own estrogen. In no world does one HAVE to remove their ovaries to treat endometriosis. This is categorically false. All that does is, maybe, lessen the symptoms, but then you're throwing a 20-something-year-old into early menopause and you're given a whole host of new problems. Even with these extreme therapies, many still have pain if their lesions have not been excised entirely. So telling your viewers that the only way to treat their endometriosis is to get their ovaries removed is incredibly harmful. Hormonal treatments also only treat symptoms, not the disease itself. There is no current treatment to shrink or prevent the continued growth of endometriosis. If you're going to do a segment on a controversial disease with countless misinformation, continued stigma, one that is underfunded and lacking research, and where millions of women across the world are still in agonizing pain despite these treatments pushed on them, then you need to make sure your facts are right and use actual experts.

As a woman who has been suffering with Endometriosis since I was 11 years old this video is not helpful at all. This is just the same stuff that already gets said by my OBGYN.

As someone who just got diagnosed with this at 20 I can imagine the things you’ve delt with since you got it at a young age. Do you have any advice dealing with this disease because I just had a surgery 3 weeks ago to get the stuff removed off of my ovaries but I’m doing worse than I was before because my body is dealing with extreme swelling everywhere, muscle pain, shortness of breath, and all kinds of stuff 😞. I thought at first why did I get this so young but after seeing your post it changed my view on how common this is.
