Barbara's Antipodes has been the most difficult seed for me to germinate. I had about 3 cells with 1-2 seeds each, none of which germinated. I then took 3-4 seeds and placed them in water, waited for the roots (24 hours), and then placed them in the seed cells. Only a single plant grew.
So out of 6-10 seeds, one germinated. That plant is now my 'baby' that I protect.

Chilean here, i love to see you guys planting ají cristal, hope you like it! I recommend you trying it finely diced with a touch of olive oil, some lemon juice and salt, it doesnt really needs anything else to shine. It also makes great pickles.

The trick is to have ur girlfriend like the plant itself so let her put something next to the plant like a shiny rock, or put decorations have her help you put the seed in the soil if she feels as though she's the reason it sprouts? She will have e appreciation.

In 2020, I saved seeds from Chinese 5 Color peppers. Well... we had a cross with something. I am now several years into stabilizing my peppers that start as a super dark purple color and transition to red. Purple flowers and even has purple in the stems and leaves. They make a delicious hot sauce, I'd say moderate heat.

I'm doing Early Jalapeno, Medusa, Fish Pepper, Holy Moley, Explosive Embers, Red Bell, Green Bell, and a sweet pepper (undecided which type). I'm also a masochist, so I am doing Sugar Rush Peach peppers again(only 2 plants). I already started the Peach peppers and I am sowing a few Medusa tomorrow.
The Mojo look nice and sound like something I can share with the peppers with friends, I might have to buy a pack (and then figure out where to put them)
I'm also planting three types of tomato, 2 types of passion fruit (growing all over my bedroom walls right now), 3 dragon fruit, I have set up trellis networks for Mexican Sour Gherkins, herbs, and a bunch of other things. I have Honeyberry started, Gold currants started, and I am hoping to see Seaberry buckthorn, Salmonberry, Coral berry, Thimbleberry, Japanese wineberry, Chokeberry, and Strawberry tree sprouts this spring (I'm doing the milk jug thing this year). Plus so many flowers, everywhere. It's chaos and I just go with the flow, it'll get sorted out.
I really liked the Jimmy Nardellos, they produced a ton of peppers, a crazy amount actually. The problem is I don't have a lot of room, so I think this is a skip year.
I hope your new types all do well and I look forward to the reviews at season's end.

The Mattapeno sounds great! I had great success growing just shy of 20 pepper plants last year North of the 60th parallel, despite being evacuated from our home twice due to the worst wildfire season on record! Kratky buckets did an amazing job of surviving the August/September heat for almost 6 weeks without any interference from me 800km away. Hoping this season comes with no evacuations 🤞

I was gifted a dozen chocolate habanero peppers in 2022. I liked them so much, I searched for how to preserve the seeds and found Pepper Geek. Last year's plants did better than expected. I kept 4 plants for myself and gave the others away to family, friends, and strangers. Looking forward to more chocolate hobs this year and expanding on ways to preserve the fruit. I'd be happy to try growing the Mattapenos; the color makes me think white chocolate. Regardless, have a great season and keep up the good work. o/

I grow the Aji Cristal every year, because I make a white chilli sauce with it. It really shines when you ferment it.
It is floppy though! The pic from Fatalii is not really how it behaves in a normal setting, Fatalii grows in a semi hydroponic system and he uses fertilizer to the max and beyond.
But they really give a lot of fruit, even if they are all over the place.
The chilli I look forward to growing this year is Bonda Mahala.

I’m most excited about growing some Chile-Tepin peppers that a friend of mine gave to me. Their family brought the plants from Mexico many years ago and have been using them for many generations.
I actually started some later in the fall last year and overwintered them in ground. They are still alive, very short only with 3 or four sets of true leaves each, but I have 6 out of the ten I planted left. Hopefully they bounce back moving into the spring!

I have a friend from MD that mailed me some Ghost Pepper and Thai Dragon seeds and I'm going to start next week.
Honestly, I was going to just keep going with just those but as I even got to the Barbaras Antipodes on your video I was asking my wife across the room to look up where I could get seeds from. LMFAO, I almost stopped mid sentence when I saw how pretty the Mattapeno peppers and the plants too.
So I want to say the 4 "NEW" plants I'm giving a hydroponic attempt with are these above. If you don't send me some of the Mattapeno seeds I'm definitely going to find some.
Thanks guys... Me and the wifey LOVE your videos :)

My overwinter peppers all died. I didn’t water them correctly. Last year I enjoyed the Marachi pepper. I was hotter than I thought it was supposed to be ( about the same as jalapenos when I thought it was supposed to be half that hot). This year I’m focusing on finding sweet peppers that grow well for me. So more bells and sweet Italian. That variegated jalapeño is beautiful!

I'm growing all the peppers from the Botanical Interests hot chili collection. Santaka, Serrano, cayenne, Thai Hot, Habanero, Scotch Bonnet, and Ghost. This should prove to be interesting.

I'm also growing Aji Cristal this year. I love growing chiles that open up authentic culinary options. Aji Amarillo let me make lomo saltado. So good. This year I'm growing Chilhaucle Negro and Rojo in addition to Amarillo. I'm most looking forward to Sugar Drop Lemon. Sugar Rush Peach are great fresh, Lemon Drop are amazing smoked/dehydrated. Can't wait to see what the cross is like.

Fun fact: you mention Pico de Gallo salsa. That one is actually called salsa bandera in mex because of its 3 colors, tomato, jalapeño and onion.
Pico de gallo is an all red salsa made from the pico de gallo pepper or bird’s beak pepper
Somehow the whole English speaking community got it wrong.

Jimmy Nardello frying peppers because I have seen so much of garden RUclips raving about them. I ordered the seed twice by accident 🤣

The pepper I'm most excited for this season is a Lesya pepper! I already have the first seedlings sprouting for it. Supposedly it's a very sweet pepper with a thick flesh, great alternative to bell pepper - but what caught my attention was the beautiful heart-like shape of the fruits :D
