About the kid that Tyson fought in the abbey. In the Japanese version, we actually get to see that kid again. As Kai wanders down the hallway he comes by a prison like cell. In this cell there is this kid from earlier, begging him to let him out. This was the Moment Kai was able to recall this place as Boris appeared behind him and Kai was in pure shock. I don't know why they had cut this part out of the english version because the way Kai reacted just shows, that he and probably the rest of the boys, that grew up there, had a very similar treatment in the abbey).

He did have a battle against the Demolition Boys, but he got owned and Draciel was stolen. It was weird how he just beat Black Dranzer, then got whooped so easily right after.
@@Chaoskingdonovan actually max was lucky since kai was having doubts making black dranzer way weaker than normal (since the bit beast get afected by the user emotions and physical state)and even then it was just a matter of time before black dranzer could beat drasil until tyson used the og dranzer to help by not only making kai's mental state weaker but by making it a 2v1 battle. Also that explains why he later lose againts oponents weaker than kai (with black dranzer).
@@SoyElBrokas he got jumped again he got jumped and I can’t count that it’s not fair Mental nerf or not Kai was still losing during there one v one after that I wouldn’t count it anymore cause og dranzer tagged in mid fight making it a stale mate in max’s favor
I absolutely love these videos! I love how you are able to acknowledge how silly the show is while respecting its storytelling. I’d love to see breakdowns of other nostalgic children’s anime.
At the end of the original Beyblade Series it wasn't reveal what became of Black Dranzer after the Bladebreakers defeated the Demolition Boys and stopped Biovolt for good.
This is when Beyblade REALLY got seriously badass, like Battle City in YGO. Black Dranzer was THE Beyblade back in the day. It was insane to see Kai own both prior teams with ease (which he would have done in those seasons, but not as effortlessly). What was even crazier was Tyson getting smashed. At that point, you didn't really expect it, or at least expected a much closer fight, but no, he's made to look like a chump just like Ray. It's cathartic considering how he acts in V-Force and G-Revolution, but a bit sad because he's still a good character here. It made you think if Kai faced anybody from the past, including the Majestics, he'd stuff them all. I initially hated how Kai couldn't take out Max like he did the others, but then it was explained how Black Dranzer actually works (in the Japanese version), and it made sense. Kai was breaking mentally when confronted by someone actually near his level, so Black Dranzer was less effective as its strength comes directly from the blader using it. I always thought it was weird how Kai didn't just return the Sacred Beasts to their owners after coming back to the light side, rather he let Boris keep all the ones he stole. Kind of a dick move IMO.
I like how max win and lose were based on things that were explained before for example kai was having doubts making black dranzer way weaker than normal (since the bit beast get afected by the user emotions and physical state)and tyson using he og dranzer to help was the nail in the coffin for kai and black dranzer (basically they didnt atack they atacked kai making black dranzer way weaker). Also that explains why max later lose againts oponents way weaker than kai (with black dranzer).
This arc it's important to me first time a main protagonist thst turns into darkness it hits diferente when Kai tried to help his friend or classmate at school before he died and gona give credit to the metal saga when tsubasa felt into darkness was so real
Kai: I’m going to make things right! Also Kai: gives Boris Black Dranzer with all the bit beasts he stole instead of giving them back which lead to the demolition boys taking Draciel.
One of things I found interesting in this arc is how the Beybladers reacted to getting their Bit-Beasts stolen by Kai and Black Dranzer. For example after the All Starz got defeated by Kai and got their Bit-Beasts stolen by Black Dranzer, the White Tigers saw them walking away dejectedly. When Mariah tried asking them what happened and if they're okay, Emily turned around and responded "Mariah..." with tears in her eyes. They weren't upset that they lost the match, they were upset that their Bit-Beasts were taken from them. That shows that Beybladers actually care about their Bit-Beasts and view them as partners instead of just tools that will give an edge in Beyblade Battles. It really humanizes them. And to reinforce this the White Tigers got upset over Kai taking their Bit-Beasts, too. Heck, back in the White Tiger arc, Ray got upset after Drigger left him. (Still trying to remember how he got him back) Oh, another thing I liked was Tyson using the original Dranzer to defeat her (some parts of the dub refer to Dranzer as female) evil doppelganger and get Kai back. It quite poetic as it's proof that the true Dranzer is Kai's one true partner and not that dark imitation. Dranzer: "I hate cheap knockoffs!" Edit: This really is quite comparable to the Marvel Comic's "Alien Costume" arc. Black Dranzer in the Venom to Kai's Spider-Man.
The black Dranzer left quite the scar on my beyblade career as a kid... I was best in my street until i challenged this kid with a battery powered beyblade arena with the black Dranzer included as a set... It's the only beyblade i never beat... Since they made OG Dranzer in the new BBX maybe a variant as a tournament prize or exclusive could appear...
When I was watching this arc, and when Kai was taking the All-Stars bit-beast and the White Tigers bit-beast (minus Kevin) I thought of the Wolf Duke Org.
This was the arc that cemented Kai as my top favorite character in all of Beyblade. While yeah, he went through a traitor arc in the show, you could tell that the same Kai we all loved was still in there. It's just head cannon, but I think that Black Dranzer may have had some influence over Kai when he embraced its power. Kinda like how some Bit Beasts in VForce could with their Bladers. The difference being that Kai wasn't exposed as much to it here, since he only wielded Black Dranzer's power for a short time, so the brainwashing wasn't as serious. I've always had a soft spot for the redemption characters in anime, like Ken/Digimon Emperor in Digmon 02. So Kai becoming a favorite of mine, was bound to happen.
They really do Max dirty man. He just got a new blade and they steal Draciel before he can use it in a tournament XD At least it got to flex as the one blade to no-sell Black Dranzer's offense. Which made it a target true, but man XD
Now I'm no expert on the lore with the manga and maybe someone mentioned it and I didn't notice it in comments, but iirc, Kai lost his mom at an early age and his mom was loving and caring, and we also see him show those soft spots during the USA arc, where he gets to notice the connection between Max and his mom, so maybe some soft feelings there? Also I'm curious was it shown how Kai returned Black Dranzer in this arc, or is that in the next arc or video.
I love this arc. On paper it's so, _so_ dumb. Black Dranzer is a super-Bit Beast created by _Rasputin_ using _black magic._ It's based on Dranzer, who is in turn based on the Four Gods, but it originated in Russia. It's a big bird contained inside a bladed spinning top. It's a counterpart to one of a set of four, but it has no fellow black magic versions of the other sacred spirits (Well, there's Death Driger/Shadow Driger, but that one isn't in the show, and has a completely different design language, being a humanoid Driger with bat wings and a scythe, and a green blade that doesn't look like any of the Drigers we got). It's more powerful than any single Bit Beast we've ever seen before. It makes you evil if you use it, and its effects are _incredibly_ strong, Kai doesn't even need to actually pick the thing up for it to get its hooks in him. It's identical in every way besides colour to the Dranzer F blade that Kai designed himself like, last week in-universe, but that's not a recent upgrade, it's always looked like that. Oh, but watching it, and buying into this funny alternate world where kids launching sawblades at each other for sport is on the same level as baseball? It works. It _really_ works. Everything about the way this arc is set up makes Black Dranzer a great antagonist, and I'm torn between wishing it came back in G-Revolution and appreciating that they did it once, only once, and when the story was told, they let it rest. I kinda have a fan-theory about it, that the reason Dranzer F and Black Dranzer look identical to each other is that Kai was subconsciously influenced by his memories of Black Dranzer when building the new blade. While plenty of Kai's blades use that two-toothed design (the original Dranzer S, his later Dranzer G, and his final Dranzer MS spring to mind), these are the only two he uses that have green markings instead of red. So I like to think that, without intending to, he made his own copy of Black Dranzer. (Sidenote: Me and some friends once spitballed the idea of doing a Beyblade Abridged, and one of the jokes I wanted to do was to have Boris drop the "It was made by Rasputin" line, Kai to question it, and then hard-cut to the _In the Dark of Night_ sequence from Anastasia) Like everything in the show, it got a toy (Technically this is a joke, as Tryhorn, Falborg, Amphilyon, Unicolyon and all of the Dark Bladers' Beyblades did not get toys, and Galux only got a con-exclusive redeco of Galleon), and like the show, the toy was a black redeco of Dranzer F. This ended up being quite funny, because Dranzer F... is not a particularly good blade IRL. The attack ring is okay, but has the potential to be damaged with repeated use, and the blade's gimmick of being able to change its tip for different opponents ends up making the blade a bit too tall to effectively use any of them. So the ultimate, horror-monster Beyblade from the show ends up being fairly underwhelming in plastic.
Dranzer F and Black Dranzer looks the same because Kai is using a Hiwatari Enterprise technology to dewelop Dranzer F (it's said in Japanese version when Kai is training in a warehouse and BladeBreakers are attacked on Eiffel tower) so assuming Dranzer F is best version in OG then it's obvious that Black Dranzer will have the same assets. Black Dranzer is actually connected to mythology of Pyre Bird (counterpart to Phoenix) the same way as all Bit-Beasts are sacred spirits from every part of a world. "The noble Phoenix is an embodiment of renewal, part of the cycle of death and rebirth. The bird dies in fire but is reborn new. This is a metaphor by the gods themselves for mortals, who must die so that new life can live in their place. The Pyre Bird appears to the casual observer to be a raven but a keen eye reveals that its tail is too long and elaborate, its feathers are not the iridescent black of a real raven but rather pure matte black of coal dust. Indeed, mixed in the black are feathers the pale white color of ash. The beak is not pointed, but curved. They are, in truth, phoenix birds but devoid of the inferno of glorious color that makes those birds so easily recognized. The Pyre Bird is the corrupted Phoenix who perpetuates its existence by stealing that power of rebirth. Like a vulture, the Pyre Bird circles overhead, waiting for funeral processions to prepare the ritualistic cremation on the sacred river. When the body is prepared on its funerary raft, ignited, and pushed out onto the steam, the Pyre Bird descends to “feed”. The Pyre Bird eats the “fire”. The light and heat and energy of the destruction of the body is absorbed by the malignant creature, allowing it to continue its current incarnation without its own death. The body upon which it feeds is untouched by fire and will never burn again or even sink. Instead, the corpse will float forever on the sacred river, rotting and putrefying into a vile ooze that poisons the water around it. In time, the body becomes not but a greasy slick on the river and flows out into the Ocean where the indignity of the Pyre Bird is finally, mercifully washed away. For this reason, mourners often prepares boats to follow the funerary raft, where relatives or hired men guard the body. The Pyre Bird is an outcast from the hidden temples and secret roosts where noble Phoenix dwell."
People don’t realize how complex Kai character is in the manga. In the sequel Rising to the original manga Kai is a seasoned battler coming back from London AND running his grandfathers company on some Seto Kaiba shit. The same gangsta who ran the Sharks evolved on some boss shit. AND he gets even stronger beating Takao/Tyson multiple times, and upgrading Dranzer to the Burst level with Dranzer S Spiral Spread and ITS evolutions Dranzer Flame Yell Zeta and Dranzer Flame 10Turn Sword. Kai reaches Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta levels of rival. Not to mention he becomes more social, and has a positive relationship with each of his family members. He becomes a way more rounded character.
I loved Beyblade so much when I was a kid, the first series was really something special. Will you cover V Force and G Revolution as well at some point?
Imagine an alternate universe where the Majestics do beat the Bladebreakers. The Majestics taking their spot in the World tournament and Kai joins the Demolition Boys not only to hold Black Dranzer but driven beserk due to repeated losses to the European assholes.
Would the unoffical "Done Dirty award" go to Black Dranzer for getting built up to be the strongest to get 2 consecutive losses OR the Bladebreakers for getting left on the lake? 🤔
I love how show with Japanese school children has Tyson freaking out over the inhumane expectations in children despite how harsh the expectation from school children is in east Asia
Looking forward to the last video. And maybe v force and g revolution getting their own entries. After that if you’re looking for another old series to talk about, I’d love some old zoids retrospectives for the first few series. They’re also shorter than beyblade.
This arc is amazing. Everyone gets a chance to shine, Kai gets a great character arc, Max is the one that ensures Black Dranzer is defeated, Ray gets one of the most badass wins in the series and Tyson becomes the World Champion. Great way to end the first series!
Wouldn't surprise me if bit beast decided to destroy humanity after all the stuff they have been doing to them especially the absorbing them into another one

Wait so you're telling me that Max didn't start using Draciel F until right before their battle against Demolition Boys? So bro beat Michael with Draciel S. while all of his teammates were using the F versions of their beys
@@thedigiknow Wait... he didn't get Draciel Fortress until that episode... and that makes the part where he immedialely lost Genbu next episode really a low blow.
I still can't believe that the Russians used Trygator more than Emily did (pretty sure she's the only character this happened to in the franchise). At that point, why not just make the All-Stars another 3-person team like pretty much any of the non-Bit Beast teams instead of having an extra character who doesn't get to really participate?
Hey it’s the Beyblade Lucifer made and Rasputin found, neat Side note this is my holy grail Beyblade I want it so freaking badly, and another fact Hasbro made a unique Black Dranzer V2 because they loved the Beyblade and its sales so much, this is despite the season 2 anime V force/Beyblade 2001 didn’t even do anything with the concept

I mean Black Dranzer was basically a russian nuke mixed with a supersoldier program. Like a bit of winter soldier mixed with Mewtwo. Younger me ate that shit up. The cold war stuff with USA vs Russia definitely went over my head though.
For some reason, nobody remembers the fact that Black Dranzer 1 shot every All Star blades at once without breaking a sweat, then Max CASUALLY BLOCKS a Black Dranzer attack. Max is legit a unspoken monster. If he didn't get 4v1 he would've been an insane threat 1v1 in the last tourney.
..THOUGHT YOU PICKED UP MY NAME BUT YOU FORGOT ABOUT MY HOME GAME 6:05 Arrival of one the greatest OST's from Beyblades english dub !!1 Kai had one of the coldest launch sequences busting through some pillars with Black Dranzer
Listen, the REAL Dranzer beyblade was a PROBLEM fr. I remember back in middle school 2002 my Filipino neighbor had one and i could NOT beat this dude for shii! Lol it was too well balanced and unpredictable. I'll never forget that
If I were Tyson and the others I’d have left Kai to drown in that frozen lake after what he did to them, the All Starz and the White Tigers but not before snatching Black Dranzer from his hands so they could figure out how to give the latter two teams their Bit Beasts back. Think of it as Kai getting what was coming to him after what he did.
Those giant launchers were false advertisement! You could barely hold these tiny things in your hands as an 11 year old. But in the show, they held them with the entire palm
A interesting thing to notice is how easy BD was defeated by the Demolition Boys, showing that it's strenght came from Kai, not exactly the bit beast itself. It'll be interesting if the use of BD started to make the player weaker, like it was in V-Force.
Max losing Draciel but getting to save the day against Black Dranzer and protecting the others when Ian attacked them feels like a decent way to make all four of the main characters feel relevant as battlers, but still keep the 3v3 format. Never understood why Kai didnt just keep Black Dranzer to try and free the captured beasts though.

Max was a loser. He just stalled the match with defence. Until it turned into a 4 vs 1.

He did have a battle against the Demolition Boys, but he got owned and Draciel was stolen. It was weird how he just beat Black Dranzer, then got whooped so easily right after.
@@DarthPyrusTheVirus he got jumped I don’t count that
@@Chaoskingdonovan actually max was lucky since kai was having doubts making black dranzer way weaker than normal (since the bit beast get afected by the user emotions and physical state)and even then it was just a matter of time before black dranzer could beat drasil until tyson used the og dranzer to help by not only making kai's mental state weaker but by making it a 2v1 battle. Also that explains why he later lose againts oponents weaker than kai (with black dranzer).
@@SoyElBrokas he got jumped again he got jumped and I can’t count that it’s not fair
Mental nerf or not Kai was still losing during there one v one after that I wouldn’t count it anymore cause og dranzer tagged in mid fight making it a stale mate in max’s favor
I absolutely love these videos! I love how you are able to acknowledge how silly the show is while respecting its storytelling. I’d love to see breakdowns of other nostalgic children’s anime.
Thank you so much!
"the beyblade equivalent of the space race" yeah that tracks
Another banger review video!
Thanks!
If it helps anything, there is a cut scene which describes black dranzer being somehow tied in Rasputin. Which man says a lot.
7:01 almost All the Wild tigers Bitbeast as I’m sure Kevin never fought as he has his BLade taken from him for Braking their Team Rules.
I think I missed this arc growing up. Def gonna have to rewatch the series. Great vid as always brother.
(Still trying to remember how he got him back)
Oh, another thing I liked was Tyson using the original Dranzer to defeat her (some parts of the dub refer to Dranzer as female) evil doppelganger and get Kai back. It quite poetic as it's proof that the true Dranzer is Kai's one true partner and not that dark imitation.
Dranzer: "I hate cheap knockoffs!"
Edit: This really is quite comparable to the Marvel Comic's "Alien Costume" arc. Black Dranzer in the Venom to Kai's Spider-Man.
Driger.
Highly underrated show with deeper complex narratives.
awesome video, I hope you talk about season 2 sometime.
Please never end these
When I was watching this arc, and when Kai was taking the All-Stars bit-beast and the White Tigers bit-beast (minus Kevin) I thought of the Wolf Duke Org.
I’ve never seen a second of this show but this was entertaining
Sometimes when I'm watching the original Beyblade series mainly from the V force to G Revolution Black Dranzer to make a comeback
(Sidenote: Me and some friends once spitballed the idea of doing a Beyblade Abridged, and one of the jokes I wanted to do was to have Boris drop the "It was made by Rasputin" line, Kai to question it, and then hard-cut to the _In the Dark of Night_ sequence from Anastasia)
Like everything in the show, it got a toy (Technically this is a joke, as Tryhorn, Falborg, Amphilyon, Unicolyon and all of the Dark Bladers' Beyblades did not get toys, and Galux only got a con-exclusive redeco of Galleon), and like the show, the toy was a black redeco of Dranzer F.
Galux was a convention exclusive? No wonder I couldn't find one in stores.
The breaking of the ice is so poetic.
I nominate Emily, for getting her Bit-Beast stolen the first time she actually uses it.
@@nicholasfarrell5981And she seemed to actually care for her Bit-Beast as when Kai stole it, she looked at Mariah in tears.
Black dranzar arc was absolutely loved your review of it I hope you consider doing v force and g revolution
The moment that tested the bonds of the Bladebreakers to make them stronger than ever before.
Wouldn't surprise me if bit beast decided to destroy humanity after all the stuff they have been doing to them especially the absorbing them into another one
Great video. Man, you really have to do V-Fource after you've finished. It's amazing for Kai's development.
And the soundtrack is actually fire
bro your videos are so good man, really appreciate you letting me relive my childhood
1:40 knew that sounded like tsubasa
Yeah, this arc was surprisingly intense.
My guy is just cooking the best content rn 🙏🏻 Don’t slow down please 🙂↔️
Kai: I resented being thrown in with a bunch of no-talents!
Also Kai: To become the best, one must defeat the best!

I know it may seem strange but I was cheering on Kai even in his dark turn haha love seeing him wreck some blade 😂
I really like your content. I was in a toys r us beyblade team when I was 9 lol. Would you ever make a series on the Medabots show? That was another one of my favorites
Correction: Max's new bey is Draciel Fortress, not Super Draciel
Yeah in Japanese they give it the name Draciel Fortress. In English they call it Super Draciel once and then never really give it a name again. I meant to throw text on screen saying “(Draciel Fortress in the original)” but forgot. Woops
Wait so you're telling me that Max didn't start using Draciel F until right before their battle against Demolition Boys?
So bro beat Michael with Draciel S.
while all of his teammates were using the F versions of their beys
@@thedigiknow
Wait... he didn't get Draciel Fortress until that episode... and that makes the part where he immedialely lost Genbu next episode really a low blow.

Please do this kind of analysis for V-Force and G-Revolution! I am loving this videos to relive my nostalgia xD
Hey it’s the Beyblade Lucifer made and Rasputin found, neat
Side note this is my holy grail Beyblade I want it so freaking badly, and another fact Hasbro made a unique Black Dranzer V2 because they loved the Beyblade and its sales so much, this is despite the season 2 anime V force/Beyblade 2001 didn’t even do anything with the concept
Aw man, I hate that they dropped Ian and Spencer in the next series and that Kevin didn't battle, I'm in love with all the characters from the main teams of the first BB
G Revolution's Blitzkrieg Boys still had Tala/Yuri, Bryan/Boris, and Spencer/Sergei. Sad that Tala and Kai do all their battles.
Ian/Ivan was the one left on the cutting room floor.

Hey, thanks!
Black Dranzer is the best beyblade. They always has to fight handicap and use 3 or 4 beyblade to compare to Black Dranzer's power.
And zeus?
Such nostalgia i loved this arc
Nice videos bro. Keep the V force and G revolution series in the line too, they'll be hella funny especially towards the end.
I hope G-revolution will get his rewatch too ;)
And yeah i meant don't bother to rewatch v-force lmao
Ray was the true MVP of the final Battle
Just bought a slightly damaged black dranzer attack ring for $9. Finally have a black dranzer complete, hasbro ver. The attack ring is what I needed lol.
I miss the globe trotting that went on in older adventure animes.
I mean Black Dranzer was basically a russian nuke mixed with a supersoldier program. Like a bit of winter soldier mixed with Mewtwo. Younger me ate that shit up. The cold war stuff with USA vs Russia definitely went over my head though.
There was no cold War element the beyblade was made when Russia wasn't even communist acc to timeline
@@horizonenjoy2323 I meant general allusions that could be implied by reading too much into it. Not actually there.

This was a good arc Seeing Kai’s character Growth was cool.
This, this is where I realized how much I love edgelords. I was an absolute Kai fangirl as a kid. Him tossing out Dranzer felt so intense 💔
This arc got pretty crazy
Listen, the REAL Dranzer beyblade was a PROBLEM fr. I remember back in middle school 2002 my Filipino neighbor had one and i could NOT beat this dude for shii! Lol it was too well balanced and unpredictable. I'll never forget that
this was perfect, i liked it, everything in this video. Thank you for this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’m surprised ambushing and effectively injuring a opponent before a game isn’t grounds for immediate disqualification.
The Black Dranzer arc was the most Edgist and coolest thing to me as a 12 year old.
I love how Beyblad is just wrestling with tops at this point.
More like boxing due to the weight classes.
this arc was so impactful for beyblade it inspired shu turning into red eye in beyblade burst god
