I'd love to listen to a new album by Def Leppard /Robert John Mutt Lange sometime in the future!! that would be precious for the world! I also enjoy Joe Elliot's AC DC type of voice as in Rock Rock till you drop , Run riot or when He does a melodic falsetto as in the outro of the song Blind Faith. It has a different color than Brian Johnson's voice being in the same style of Raspy Falsetto. Also a Mutt Lange solo album with Mutt playing everything and singing would be awesome!
Really great interview guys. I have so much respect for Joe and Def Leppard. When Rick lost his arm, they stuck with him. Incredible. Run Riot and Gods of War are just awesome songs, they should have released both songs as singles. Greetings from Australia. Thank you for this.
Perhaps Pete should have lost a foot or somthing, they might have stuck with him too.......With all-due respect......I'll always be salty about that..........js I'll always be a die hard Def Lep fan too.

i know he might be hard to find because no one has interviewed him in years would love see you guys interview billy squier imo one of the most underrated artists in rock history
Considering that most groups out of the 80's were all but irrelevant by the mid-90's, Def Leppard managed to thrive. I say thrive because they were able to keep their foundational sound, but re-engineer it to accommodate the new millennium, and beyond. Keep in mind they still made one triple platinum and two gold albums in the 90's. To this day, they garner new cohorts of fans; tour every 1-2 years; and consistently perform at the top of the pyramid. I think people should appreciate what this band has accomplished. I always make an effort to see them when they come near town. I hope they have at least 10-15 years left. Given that they're all in great shape for their age (especially Phil), and let go of the hard drugs and alcohol decades ago, they're in full command of whatever is they want to accomplish. Long live Def Leppard! #rockbrigade
@ I get your point but I disagree. They’re one of the biggest acts on tour, to this day. Yeah Joe doesn’t sound like he did 30 years ago but at the same time he’s still more than capable of carrying the tune; and every once in a while he can still hit the iconic notes he’s known for. His high screeches have turned into coarse croons - which sound great live. They’re all in great shape, have taken good care of themselves for decades now, and continue to lead the way. I don’t see why they don’t keep going for another 5 years or so. As long as Joe wants to sing, and they want to record albums and tour then by all means. They sound great, considering that 4/5 are now in their 60s. Age is a bitch to everyone but more or less, it hasn’t stopped this special band - one of the very few bands that managed to sell a good number of records and shows in the 90s - from doing its thing.
@ it's not top notch, but the rest of the band is still pretty good at singing background vocals and they obviously have tracking when they play live at big venues now
I love the way Joe is such a fan of music he grew up with...that usually translates to a great musician. all of those influences filtered through to form something fresh ....
I must say Joe I want to give you a blessing on the songs that you think are not worth keeping but get your heart enjoyed doing them do not abandon your heart if you felt something playing the song it's worth fixing and making it much better do not throw away the song that touches your heart or something in the band's heart
Great catch on the interview- a cool guy from one of the hardest working bands! (I still think they should bow out of the Motley tour- and hit the road ASAP)
Motley Crue needs to exit. Vince Neil is an embarrassment against the other bands. MC don't care about their fans, to have them endure that. Joe Elliot is awesome, as is Brett Micheals. VN can't compete w men his own age.
The “X” album and the “Yeah” album are two of their very best for sure! Absolutely love those two albums. My two favorites outside of the stuff they did with Mutt (the Promises single of course included).
I was lucky enough to be invited along to a spend a couple of hours with the band along with a few other fans as part of a Spotify reward scheme, at their homecoming show in Sheffield in 2018. Before we watched the sound check, we had a Q&A with them. Their passion for what they do was so evident in that session and they genuinely respect their fans. Their desire to make music and to entertain is as strong now than it ever has been. It was so obvious they have every intention of carrying on for many years yet. At the very least one more full studio album, as for the cybernauts, Joe did say that day that it is definitely something they would like to do again.
Jeremy this is by far the BEST Joe Elliott interview I’ve had the please of watching over the years. The technical stuff is great but he is just so full of music love, it is absolutely intoxicating!! Thanks again! Cheers - R
Great interview. I'd have liked to hear a question asked about new music just to hear Joe's reply even though I know you guys asked Phil. Also would like to know if there are any plans for a remastered edition of the In The Round release as that would look great on Blu Ray. Joe is fun to listen to though and really appreciate just how big of a fan of music history he is. And Mitch, yes, Pyromania was huge in the US! I remember Leppard battling Michael Jackson on the charts and appearing on American Bandstand :) That's really when they started taking off in the US.
Great interview with Joe, he really knows his music history too !! I am sure they will be coming out with some new music. They liked the way that they made their last album. They still sound great and their world 🌍 tour 2023 is a great success!! Absolutely Amazing 🤩🤩🤩
The thing I didn’t realise is that a nickname like Mutt does a disservice to Lange. He’s well spoken and erudite; a bit like Martin with the Liverpool outfit.
Regarding the song "No Matter What" being heard live in concert in Florida by the "last surviving member" of Badfinger, Joey Molland, is still alive. He has lived in Minnesota for a very long time. Mike Gibbins, Badfinger's drummer, did live in Florida for many years. Mike died in October, 2005. I am guessing Joe Elliot is referring to Mike Gibbins. Badfinger's version is best but Leppard's _is_ good.
You have probably a very large and very good studio I envy you and the sound effects and everything you could do I should try some of them with my small studio but I don't think it would make it quite as good as yours you have fun with it and so do I I love the studio
Being a fan of both Bryan Adams & Def Leppard I always felt that Post Pyromania Def Leppard albums sound more like Bryan Adams. Bryan Adams Reckless was one of the best pop rock records all time having 6 Singles reaching Billboard Top 15 along with Thriller and Born in the USA at that time in 1984-5. Heaven reached number 1. Melodic and extremely catchy with amazing Guitar work done throughout the album. That was his signature album and will always be. Well Mutt and Co had this in mind and tried to make that sound a little bigger and polished in Hysteria. It was such a coincidence that after the outstanding Into the Fire Album Bryan worked with Mutt for his next project. Waking up the Neighbours was composed, recorded and released before Def Leppard Adrenalize. Most of the songs in Adrenalize sound like the songs rejected for Waking up the Neighbours Album. In other words, after giving a listen to both albums one after another is just like listening Waking up the Neighbours Volume 1 & 2. Bryan’s and Mutt’s co produced sound is all over Def Leppard’s Adrenalize. For Instance, I Wanna Touch You is a complete rip off of Bryan’s All I Want Is You. Stand up Kick Love into Motion sounds very similar to Bryan’s Thought I Died and Gone to Heaven. Even the guitar solo in Stand Up is directly taken for Bryan’s House Arrest. Heaven is sounds like Not Guilty. Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad is very similar to Do I Have to Say the Words? The guitar solo in Bryan’s All I Want is you is copied in both I Wanna Touch You and When Love and Hate Collide. The Drums sound in Adrenalize is just like Waking up the Neigbours. Mutt Lange Factor! But any ways Reckless, Hysteria, Waking up the Neighbours, Adrenalize, 18 til I die and On a Day like Today are my favorite albums that I keep listening to this day. Outstanding pop rock records.
Jeremy, if you ever have Joe or Phil on the podcast again, can you pleeease ask them about the extended guitar solos section at the end of Love Bites live in Sheffield in 1993? (I’m sure you’ve seen it…it was featured on the Visualize home video.) That was such an epic, beautiful three minutes of ballad rock music. I would love to know all the details that went into the composition of that section of music.
The best part of that is it showed Def Leppard fans that they guy filling the shoes of Steve was THE guy. All these years later I couldn’t imagine anyone else in that spot, not just guitars, but his vocals add so much and quite honestly his personality in general fits so well. I love watching him play. He moves slower and just like a bad ass with that les Paul. Like Steve.
I must get to the rest of my things that I must do I spent a lot of time on you this week we looking at some of the things of all of yours and taking to look at some of the new interviews you've done you're so impressive all the work you do you are very youthful and very attractive
@Jeremywhite please tell Joe……He has said the band’s boss are the fans…so…please tell Joe that a lot of his fan bosses would like to see a collaboration with Pete Willis before it’s to late. Make Leppard a 6 pieces band maybe through writing then recording it then make it an album collaboration with Pete or have Pete on stage again play their early stuff from the EP to Pyromania then put it on RUclips or video to sell. Joe can’t say now that there’s only 3 original founding members why they can’t play their early stuff, but by putting Pete in will make it 4 original founding members…sadly…without Steve Clark. Joe has to tell Pete it’s the fans requesting his return. Please make this happen Jeremy. It will be a great surprise to the Leppard fans if this happens. To think of it might as will make it a 7 piece band bring back Tony Kenning on drums. Also ask Joe what about a tribute concert for Mutt Lange by gathering all the singers and bands he had produce or put out the greatest hit on CD that has been produced by Mutt throughout his producing years. Please send this message for us fans :)))
You guys are very worldly as I can see and you got to experience the whole world that world got to experience you which is not as much as the hair bands from California I understand
My Lord Joe youth know so much about bands and music aside from your own that is very good I have to admit I envy it because I have not done that I stay focused on people I like and that is it I don't know Branch out you are very broad-minded and that's good I am a very I like only certain people I love Def Leppard there are a few others I like prior to Def Leppard but you know for likes since 1992 I've been listening to Def Leppard and then I stopped to enter into being a part of God's Kingdom about almost 3 years ago and I came back listening to you again cuz I missed you
The misconception is all based upon a single band photo of the group from the Adrenalize Record (1992) which was oddly released - get this, a year after Nirvana had already released Nevermind. The "hair band" scene was already long dead which makes this posthumous assumption even all the more absurd. I forgot which writer started this rumor, but I am sure if it's researched you will find the answer.
Joe bravo on all you do and God bless you and all your loved ones hold on to God and you'll live forever and always and your song could go on for as long and forever as you want but in heaven you'll be worshiping god with your music a good example of worshiping God is by wearing the cross which I've seen you wear in the past I've seen you wear necklaces too with the cross I pray for your bands to always come out with it never give up you can keep going for a long time your energy level is so strong and you're so useful and youthful that nothing will stand in your way!!! I wish I had some of your energy and health but I will pray that I get better thank you very much for all the songs that you did and all the videos you did and being open to your audience giving them all your private life of influences how much is influences and how much is the gift from God influence that works through the Holy Spirit that brings out your creativity of your own..
Def Leppard are still a little underrated.. the band has massive talent and look at the history of the band.. I thought it was incredibly thoughtful and showed respect to Rick Allen when he had his accident and then they say hey we are going to let you choose if you wanna stay or go... That is loyalty.. most or all would be searching for a replacement as soon as the accident occurred.. I see people talking about the Crue... Poor Vince needs to get his shit together and take a few pages for Joes book... Come on Vince lay off the McDonald's and booze bro... Your ruining your legacy.....
We can only be friends cuz you're found out you're still married however I would love to have you produce my music it would be such an honor we have a lot in common with songwriting all the music is my own and I work alone for I have no musicians to work with me I am home on oxygen right now working with a portable studio by cast cam 32 track
God bless you Jeremy on this Father's Day if you are a father I say Happy Father's Day to you you have a good father in heaven your heavenly father of Jesus is also your father I would think you believe in God if you love him Happy Father's Day
Who cares what Bryan Adams thinks, Joe is right. The album was a rip off and there were very few good songs on it. Adams has a well-earned reputation as a hot head anyway.
You're very handsome also you're beautiful if the key to the kingdom I received from you and your song and then I found God and his kingdom while I'm alive on Earth
A couple of geeks interview joe elliot...seriously what a stupid question about mtv...who gives af if mtv was the vehicle that brought the music to us. Joes exactly right, i was 12 yrs old and i hrd photograph before i ever knew about high and dry. Who gives af!! Thanks mtv!!(u know.. before sumner redstone🤮
The clock on the wall, the only face of truth. OMG, he didn't age well at all. Must've of lied about his age when he first started. Cause this guy looks every bit of 70.
This is definitely the shitiest of the box sets without a doubt I love dad leppard and yes they got my money on all of them but this does suck for the most part garbage
Joe always tries to put the band up with the Stones ,Purple and Queen. They are nowhere near as good.High and Dry was their best album..after that It was all powder puff BS.He was never a good singer ..always struggled in live performances
Joe Elliott likes the sound of his own voice too much AND is too self-congratulatory; sure, he's achieved everything but he needs to shut the fuck up about how good Def Leppard are and how important they are...c'mon be a little bit modest...and stop putting yourself up there with Queen....biggest mistake they made as a band - not drafting John Sykes in after Steve died. Having said that I like some of their music very much...
"You bust your nuts recording TEN tracks in a year"???? Come on Joe..... Kiss recorded two albums a year right through the 70s. Ten songs in a year and your record company wanted three songs to go with each single and you were complaining??? When there were thousands of unsigned bands who'd give their eye teeth to be where you are?? Come on...... Get some perspective buddy.
Hi.J goo this was interesting. Cheers

I'll always be a die hard Def Lep fan too.
Can listen to Joe talk anytime. It also speaks to why he has legendary charisma on stage. He's all in on communicating and sharing. So open.
JOe has an amazing memory... .He should turn all he remembers of the Def Leppard into a Book, while he still remembers it all so well.
I really enjoying hearing joe speak about music. You can tell he has always lived and breathed music his whole life. I feel the same. So many historic bands and songs to discover for those that keep searching. Great interview. Keep em coming. Thanks. Everybody keep buying records and supporting your favorite artists so they don't disappear.
guys...it is great to watch an interview when the hosts are so knowledgeable about the subject. this is the type of interview that uncovers things not touched on in past interviews...you can tell how comfortable Joe is because he can appreciate the in depth questions. just a great job.
Captain yes🌹🌺🥑🍍the truth always from this magic man❤
Awesome job, what a great interview. Was an hour well spent.
Thanks Rick!!
Definitely. There were a few moments where I thought the interruptions might be getting out of hand, but they seemed to quickly get under control; So major kudos for that!
This is one of the best interviews I’ve seen from Joe and honestly I can sit here and listen to him talk forever!!! I absolutely love his voice so ty for bringing this to us!!!
I hope we get another album from these legends. They aren’t getting any younger and God forbid we lose one of them. The 2015 self titled record was an instant classic and if they build on that and give us one more like that it will be a great bookend to one remarkable career.🔥
We’ll get a new album…
Here's the problem... and why we might not. Their last album was excellent, truly. They were ready to go back to the studio two years later in 2017, then something changed. Something about them caught with a new generation. Their last tour was second only to Drake for the year and out performed their Hysteria tour in 1988 (that's insane). They literally can't get off the road due to the enormous amount of revenue they're generating.
They are always writing - a new album is coming.
@@dcinsc7 Yes, Joe was talking about it the other day. We literally have COVID to thank. At least it was good for something!
i know he might be hard to find because no one has interviewed him in years would love see you guys interview billy squier imo one of the most underrated artists in rock history
Best Joe Interview ever...........
Thanks man!!
Incredible interview Jeremy! Joe is always such a great guest and great guy.
Cheers Pete!!
I agree!!
Is there a chance of that happening? Because I'm not going to spend $300 for a ticket at Fenway Park unless I have to
After Vince Neals drunken fall from grace- I wouldn’t spend 10 cents to see Motley Crew! That tour will be a total bust!
Promises is soooo great! Four letter word is 🔥
X and Yeah are my 2 least favs. Never listen to them now.
People my age who were teenagers in 1983, quit listening to DL after “Hysteria.” I’ve stayed with them the whole time. “X” is a great DL album!
@@dcinsc7 That was my cut off point and after clarky died that was final.

Great job again! It's a good week for us Classic Rock junkies, Bonamassa's interviewing DC tomorrow! :)
Hell yeah Timo!

Front row Irvine Meadows with Billy Squier then another great show at Jack Murphy. Incredible tour
Another Great Interview Jeremy & Mitch! Thank You! 🇨🇦🇬🇧🚀
Thanks Leanne!!
Epic interview! Great to hear about it all at great length, thanks guys! :-)
Thanks Gert!
Very good interview well done by everyone thank you for doing this interview and thank you for sharing this including the person that's hosting this
Amazing interview with Joe, thank-you for that!
Nice one! One hour interview and only 2 questions asked! Haha! Joe does not hold back. Great question about Neighbours sounding like Leppard.
I always wondered what he thought and had to ask!
Thank you for asking Joe the most important question for me: what is Volume 4 going to be? I can't wait.... 2022 or 2023? Regards from Costa Rica.
Cheers Aramis!!

Great interview, you guys ask logical and interesting questions.
Joe has got the Richard Harris smirks and laughs 😊❤️🇳🇴going on
That's a good concept that they want to diversify in there music it would keep there music fresh.

The greatest band
You guys are very worldly as I can see and you got to experience the whole world that world got to experience you which is not as much as the hair bands from California I understand
My Lord Joe youth know so much about bands and music aside from your own that is very good I have to admit I envy it because I have not done that I stay focused on people I like and that is it I don't know Branch out you are very broad-minded and that's good I am a very I like only certain people I love Def Leppard there are a few others I like prior to Def Leppard but you know for likes since 1992 I've been listening to Def Leppard and then I stopped to enter into being a part of God's Kingdom about almost 3 years ago and I came back listening to you again cuz I missed you
That was pretty spesh 👌
I think at that time was also considered the British invasion after the Beatles started and the girls here in America didnt mind did it all
The misconception is all based upon a single band photo of the group from the Adrenalize Record (1992) which was oddly released - get this, a year after Nirvana had already released Nevermind.
This is amazing, can Joe get anymore HANDSOME OMG I am about to FAINT OVER HERE 👈! That beautiful smile and face, I gots to kiss 💋 those LIPS !
He looks like an old woman
Ella Mclanahan. They turn into their mothers. Axl Rose and Steve Tyler suffer from the same syndrome.
Wonder if they would have had his back had he been an alcoholic ????.......js
we need ded flatbird back
We can only be friends cuz you're found out you're still married however I would love to have you produce my music it would be such an honor we have a lot in common with songwriting all the music is my own and I work alone for I have no musicians to work with me I am home on oxygen right now working with a portable studio by cast cam 32 track
God bless you Jeremy on this Father's Day if you are a father I say Happy Father's Day to you you have a good father in heaven your heavenly father of Jesus is also your father I would think you believe in God if you love him Happy Father's Day
Joe if you are not married anymore let me know I'm interested for sure I'm on RUclips also I'm relatively a new artist of Christian music
Who cares what Bryan Adams thinks, Joe is right. The album was a rip off and there were very few good songs on it. Adams has a well-earned reputation as a hot head anyway.
Hahaha..when Joe talks,he talks...no chance for Jeremy and the other guy
You're very handsome also you're beautiful if the key to the kingdom I received from you and your song and then I found God and his kingdom while I'm alive on Earth
A couple of geeks interview joe elliot...seriously what a stupid question about mtv...who gives af if mtv was the vehicle that brought the music to us. Joes exactly right, i was 12 yrs old and i hrd photograph before i ever knew about high and dry. Who gives af!! Thanks mtv!!(u know.. before sumner redstone🤮
Joe Elliott has 30 Million in the Bank from royalties and STILL can't get a good haircut that doesn't look like a wet mop draped over his skull lol
The clock on the wall, the only face of truth. OMG, he didn't age well at all. Must've of lied about his age when he first started. Cause this guy looks every bit of 70.
This is definitely the shitiest of the box sets without a doubt I love dad leppard and yes they got my money on all of them but this does suck for the most part garbage
joe needs to fix his hair color
@ yep true....he also auditioned for GnR..!
Justin case. All the members of gnr wanted Sykes in with the exception of Axl who saw him as a threat.( just like Coverdale)
Drop Steve’s Adrenalize demos already please!!!
