I just got mine ... I like it a lot. I use this for Zoom and other Web meetings. This one does the job and looks great. If I want really high quality, I use my RODEX StreamerX and my Sony camera ... But since most people cannot see above 1080k this is perfect. It is also easy to address the field of view vs. manually moving my Sony camera which I need to do from time to time.
Yes, DSLR still looks much better. It's just a totally different type of "look" IMHO. Also, this camera is very wide and any option to change is only cropping a wide angle. I don't think it can replace a DSLR.
I actually mic'd that demo since I was trying to focus on audio quality. Audio quality is good but seems to be on par with other high quality webcams. Nothing amazing necessary but def good enough
You mean the part where I am talking? Believe it or not I'm using a Nikon d5100 slr. Over 10 years old!! I think it works pretty well considering the age.
I have links to my gear in my description. I have pretty old gear. I use a Nikon d5100 as my main cam and Panasonic dc-fz80 for my "white box" broll. I think it all looks pretty good but I hope to get a new 4k Sony cam soon!! 📸
Nice webcam, the only downside is super wide angle. Why would someone need that? Very impractical, most of the 4K resolution will be lost after crop & zoom.
That's an interesting take, I think most people want the wide angle because their monitor is pretty close to where they are sitting. When testing it seemed pretty comfortable to me. Did zero cropping or zooming in my test portion of the video.
What software do you use to record? I've noticed that several programs really seem to degrade the video from a good camera and make it like a blurry zoom call which is disappointing.
Thanks for the review... ordered one for my notebook, as I have fingerprint and internal camera for Windows Hello on this device... But it is no alternative to my Brio 4k on my workstation, as there I need the cam's IR-sensor for Windows Hello. Strange, they cut short on that feature for their high-end cam.
If you don't need the movement tracking stuff, I'd go with the Logitech. The insta360 is cool but offers very different features. For image quality I think the mx brio is the way to go.
You make a great point! So much compression at so many points when it comes to web video. For anyone who wants really good video I suggest a mirrorless camera with a video output. I use the Sony zv-e10 ii and it's amazing for 4k RUclips or even for zoom. Better quality in, better quality out even if it's compressed down to 720.
I didn't. I wish I would have included a demo of the audio quality from the webcam mic. Sorry! I will say quality is decent. It's better than most but still not going to sound as good as a proper mic
All things considered, maybe it's better to spend $50 extra ($250) and get the Nikon you use for your videos. Is there a downside to using an SLR as you do, vs. the MX Brio?
Good question! The SLR that I use is old enough that it doesn't really work as a webcam. Even if you use the HDMI output, it has graphics overlaid. You have to sideload a modified bios to get rid of the graphics. But if you're just doing videos, the SLR is great! As a webcam, it's not a great option. Does that make sense?
Thanks! The dslr as webcam sounds like an ideal but very costly solution. I think I’ll need to pop for the Mx Brio after a very underwhelming experience with the Poly Lens webcam.
@@TechItBeforeYouWreckIt Throughout the entire video. You're facing the viewers speaking while the area behind you is semi-blurred. How did you apply that affect, because it's so well done?
@LEWfromdaHOU yeah, my shot with my main camera for the intro. It's not an effect as much as it's actual optics. I've found the "effects" in webcam and smartphone software never look right. I'm using a DSLR (Nikon d5100) with a fixed 35mm lens. Open up the iris a bit and you get the perfectly soft background. That help?
@@TechItBeforeYouWreckIt Oh so it's a technique with your camera. I'm used to it being referred to as effects that you do in post software. I didn't know particular cameras did that. Thanks for answering my question!

Thanks for a no-BS review. Straight to the point. This seems like it'll be the new standard for streamers or RUclipsrs between entry and pro levels.

Great review - keep it up and your channel is going to go real far!
Thanks Miguel. That means a lot. Cheers!!
Can i mount this next to my lightbar? Not directly above but to the side of the bar and use the view mode?
how is this camera compared to a dslr? does dslr still look better etc?
Yes, DSLR still looks much better. It's just a totally different type of "look" IMHO. Also, this camera is very wide and any option to change is only cropping a wide angle. I don't think it can replace a DSLR.
In your video demo were you using the built in mics? Any comments on the performance of the mics?

If i wanted to get an extension type c cable for the MX Brio, What specifications do I need to know?
I think you need to look for usb 3.1 cables. Many specifically offer support for 4k webcams. amzn.to/41C0O4I

@@TechItBeforeYouWreckIt Thanks man!, you ever heard of sony zv-e10? It’s a really amazing camera!
@NotBerserk yes! That's the cam I want but rumor is a new version (mark Ii) is going to be released any day now. So I'm waiting for that.
@@TechItBeforeYouWreckIt yeah I heard either in April or August but we’ll see haha, I can’t wait!

I agree. Windows hello was a huge bonus with the previous model. Wish they would have kept it. Thx for watching!!

@@TechItBeforeYouWreckIt OK I understand!! I'm going to buy Logitech, thanks for the feedback friend! hugs from Brazil!
This only works if you're uploading the footage as RAW as possible and your video compression is terrible. Even on 4K your video looks 720p at best.

It's old school photography techniques. Some refer to it as bokeh. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bokeh
I wish these webcams had the shallow depth of field of my DSLR. I'm using an old Canon DSLR as my webcam.
Agree 100%. That would be nice. The simulated depth of field just doesn't cut it.
@@TechItBeforeYouWreckIt Yeah, software bokeh often looks fake.

What is the lav mic you are using?
amzn.to/3Y5VD9K basically a generic copycat of the DJI mics. Been pretty impressed especially considering the low price. Thanks for watching
It looks great but it’s a bummer that Logitech didn’t include the extra sensor to make it Windows Hello compatible like the original Brio is
Yes, I'm surprised too. Especially considering the price point

Does it get hot 🔥
Doesn't seem to get hot. Wonder if the metal housing dissipates heat?
No windows hello, no buy
No windows???
Facial recognition login. Windows Hello! It doesn’t have it.
That’s true, on my thinkpad, I have to use the laptop opened to log in with my face . I was upset about that lol but what web cam has that?

I wrote you a reply but it was immediately deleted.Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra is the only webcamera that actually has 4k video.
I purchased the MX Brio to replace my Insta 360 link. only because The 360 does not work in Linux The Brio Does It,s a shame as both are Great cameras
