It looks like you recommend to place a pressing pillow in or below to reduce pressing marks but then you press without the pillow. Why did that occur ?
Should I let the sub paper dry under the heat press for a minute before pressing?
good question
You mention about how nice sublimation works on polyester - would about dye sub on a cotton poly blend shirt - like a 60/30 blend. 60 % cotton and 30 poly. Will this work? or do the dye sublimation inks only work on poly substrates? - Thank You
Yes, that would totally work. In our experience, we've found that 50/50 tees will work, but the images washes out after a trip through the laundry cycle. However, if you're into a vintage, slightly faded look, that might actually work great for you. 65% poly tees seem to be the best compromise. The image still looks great, washout is minimal, and the added cotton helps make the garment feel more comfortable.
Of course, look and feel are totally subjective based on whomever is creating/wearing these items. We encourage you to test out different blends to see what works best for you.
@@HeatPressNation Thank you for taking the time to answer my question
How does the medium pressure work exactly? How do I adjust that? And what does the parchment paper do?
To find medium pressure, try the Paper Pressure Test: heat.press/papertest . Parchment paper protects your heat press from any dye gasses that might escape the pressing area. You don't want those to stain your heat press, especially since they could potentially imprint on future projects.
@@HeatPressNation So high pressure would be when it’s almost impossible to take out the paper without tearing it apart? While medium, it’s still difficult to take it out but possible?
Good video thanks
Very informative video. Do i need to add any sublimation coating first to polyester material? Thanks
Not at all. Polyester bonds extremely well with the dye sublimation on its own.
@@HeatPressNation Thank You so much for the reply. We get these PU leather sublimable passport holder blanks. So the PU leather used in that requires any coating? Or is it that it is sublimable in the raw form itself? If no coating is required, which PU leather variety can be used to make passport holder blanks. Kindly do let know. Thank You in advance.
Do you have to place a piece of paper between the shirt? Will the Sub bleed thru the other side?
It varies, depending on the thickness of your t-shirt. Test your first shirt with a piece of parchment inside. If you see some of the ink has bled through onto the paper, you'll know to place some inside moving forward.
You confuse me on the adhesive spray is that before or after it’s heat press
The adhesive spray is to help the transfer stay in place on the garment. So you'd spray the transfer, then stick the transfer onto the shirt. We have a video that specifically shows how to use the adhesive spray here: ruclips.net/video/A8U6IzwnaRE/видео.html
I have a issue All my sublimation colors look very dull and dead I tried everything but They are still bleak Please help
If your sublimation transfers are still looking dull after heat pressing them onto a garment, try these tips:
- For Sawgrass printers, be sure you're using Sawgrass Print Manager to process your prints. You can change the color mode from "photographic" to "vivid". For all other printers, ensure you're using the correct color profile for your ink system. This should be available from your ink supplier.
- Check your time & temperature settings. Setting your heat press to medium pressure, at 385ºF for 60 seconds should be a good baseline, but you may require additional temp/time.
- Check your garment. Sublimation looks best on white 100% polyester garments. If you're using a cotton/poly blend, it will not look as bright and sharp. 100% is an absolute no-go, and will not look good at all.
I have a laser printer can i use this sublimation papers for 100%polyester dark and light t-shirts ? Please reply me
Sorry, you will need to use a sublimation printer to get the results as seen in this video.

Even with the pressing pillow, I’m still marks from the press. Any tips?
At this point, you might want to try a different brand of shirt. Some manufacturers use different quality materials than others. So some tees are more prone to scorching than others.
Colours always come out very light when I transfer my image into Polyester Tshirt, any suggestions?
In general, a light print means your transfer was under-cooked. Sublimation on 100% polyester usually works best at 385-400 degrees Fahrenheit, 45-60 seconds, at medium pressure. If you're coming up short on any of those settings, it would very likely result in a transfer that's lighter than what it's supposed to be.
Hi there, may I ask what heat press machine you're using in this video?
We used an HPN CraftPro 15"x15" heat press: heat.press/cp1515
my tshirt gets burnt what should i do?
Hi there! Are you covering the entire t-shirt with a piece of parchment paper?
Where do you buy your toddlers tshirts from
www.tscapparel.com/product/0103RA/Rabbit-Skins-4424-Infant-Fine-Jersey-Bodysuit.html
Where do I get these 100% polyesters?
Cricut sells them or even amazon
Only for 100% Polyester ? Won't work on 100% cotton?
Will definitely not work on 100% cotton. The natural cotton fibers do not react to the sublimation dye, so the image is super faint. You can sublimate onto cotton/poly blends of at least 50% polyester. It will not look as good as 100% polyester, but it'll work. Are all 100% polyester White T-shirts see-through and not take like cotton T-shirts
A lot of the thinner ones are slightly translucent. You should try to find poly tees in a 5oz or 6oz weight. Those should be a little thicker and not as see-through.
@@HeatPressNation Where do you purchase your tees?
Can you use an iron instead of the heat press machine
It depends on the sublimation paper your using.
