This movie was amazing. It is great to be a Mario fan this year. Mario and Luigi splitting up was really sad. And *SPOILERS* When it showed the flashback of Mario and Luigi as kids was really heartwarming because Luigi is really inspired by his older brother and it was sad when he was being taken away to Bowser’s castle. And Bowser’s song was great and hilarious! I remember seeing the Yoshis but I’m a little bummed they weren’t really included. But it’s still great! (I just found out that Yoshi was in the post credits scene so maybe we’ll see Yoshi in the sequel)
@@SaltyToad00 Can you say that after how much people loved Detective Pikachu? That Sonic 1 and 2 did so well there's an expanded universe planned with multiple sequel movies and spin off series? Don't get me wrong the plot is a bit iffy but... well as all Sonic fans know that's just how he rolls, cheesy cliche stories, ranging from meh good, to mediocre, to garbage, but the characters are why we love the games and now movies.
Jake made a comment at one point where he said it felt like a short movie at 90 minutes. This is a little off topic but I just want to make it known, as an animator, all animated movies are 90 minutes. They all have 30 animators working on small sections and once it's all put together it comes out to exactly 90 minutes. So it's not that it was a short movie. It was right on time for an animated film.
Before I start watching this review I gotta say WOW This is one of the best movies I've seen 🙏🏽 The animation was top notch 10/10 there's so many references from games and Nintendo it's up there with my top 5 greatest movies of all time 🙏🏽if I wasn't around so many strangers in the cinema I would of cried out loud with every emotion at times 🙏🏽
I haven’t even watched the movie yet only the trailers but I still believe this movie deserves several Oscar’s maybe not for being the best movie but as a Mario fan it is and the music is excellent just like their video games.
Well the closet thing we have to that is actually the game awards best adaptation category which I think this movie is going to be nominated for at the end of the year along with HBO's the last of us adaptation.

I enjoyed most of the movie. But I feel like Miyamoto meddled with it a bit and hut the movie at certain points. Especially at the ending with how the final battle wraps up. Even so, its one of my favorite Illumination films.
"I saw glimpse of trailers and I thought there was more to them" Same. I wanted more moments to breathe with these characters. Even recalling what I saw in this film.. felt like a blur. It moved too fast. I did appreciated the 90 minute run-time but I appreciate your point too.
I guarantee if they spent too much time learning how mario became mario people would hate it. You find out why he is in this world and that's all you need. You can not overthink it
Think why they made Bowser the way he is in this film (Me speculating here) is because if *- if -* Nintendo expands the IP into other Nintendo films then Bowser might have to compare himself with the other Nintendo villains and truthfully I personally never pictured Bowser as a threatening villain. He's final form in SM64 has a rainbow shader; he has a clown flying thing in that other game... He is a goofy villain and should be treated as such; more so if later he meets Ganon or whatever Nintendo has planned. That's just my thoughts though. Great video, watched it all.
The thing about Jack Black’s Bowser and not to Pratt’s… is that as they hide Chris’s because of a LOT of people criticizing that choice and favor it more for Jack’s “nailing” it then our expectations were soooooo much different for both of them even the two MADE AN AWESOME job.
I just came back from seeing the film and honestly, I feel like DK Will get his own spin off. The whole over over arching feeling a guy from this beautiful movie was that it setting up some thing. Definitely. This is not going to be a one off. If that’s good or bad, that’s it for you decide but I’m down for it as long as it’s done correctly.

Unfortunately, I cannot watch The Super Mario Bros. Movie upon release tomorrow. I'll just check it out on stream next month sometime.
It sounds like this is right along the lines of what I expected: a lighthearted funny film without too much plot.
Nice to hear that you two liked it.
I’m watching this movie tomorrow ❤️
Everyone is
@@best_mate456 Not me :(.
not me i rather wait until it comes out on video
@@SaltyToad00 what how is Easter holiday
Is going to be my first time on the VIP seat with my friend
How tf you unlucky you in school I feel bad for you 😫
I didn’t see it, but I think it could win an award. The animation looks spectacular.
And don’t sell the Kongs short, people might feel that way about Wookies (that was on purpose).
Looks fun, and that is what I go to the movies for, to have fun.
This movie was amazing. It is great to be a Mario fan this year. Mario and Luigi splitting up was really sad. And *SPOILERS*
When it showed the flashback of Mario and Luigi as kids was really heartwarming because Luigi is really inspired by his older brother and it was sad when he was being taken away to Bowser’s castle. And Bowser’s song was great and hilarious! I remember seeing the Yoshis but I’m a little bummed they weren’t really included. But it’s still great! (I just found out that Yoshi was in the post credits scene so maybe we’ll see Yoshi in the sequel)
So is this the best game movie adaptation? Just for the trailers I say yes but what is your opinion?
It's definitely the one I've had the most fun with!
@@GameXplain Because the other ones are mediocre or hot garbage?
@@SaltyToad00 sonic was very good character wise (let’s admit it sonic strength isn’t plot but character)
yes
@@SaltyToad00
Can you say that after how much people loved Detective Pikachu?
Andre: ‘’ no spoilers in this video ‘’
2 seconds later…: ‘’ the first music, we here is the bowser theme song’’.
Like not much of a spoil but still…
😒
Technically not a spoiler because the trailers already showed us the opening scene with Bowser's Airship
"Koopa voiced by Teen Titans Robin"
One of the directors is Micheal Jelenic -- Teen Titans director/producer.
Been refreshing RUclips music for the smb soundtrack, hopefully Friday 4/7
I haven’t even watched the movie yet only the trailers but I still believe this movie deserves several Oscar’s maybe not for being the best movie but as a Mario fan it is and the music is excellent just like their video games.
If there was an oscar for Best Adaptation, this would win it hands down.
@@priestesslucy3299 Agreed
Well the closet thing we have to that is actually the game awards best adaptation category which I think this movie is going to be nominated for at the end of the year along with HBO's the last of us adaptation.
@@iraford5788 I’m curious what would win the last of us or Mario if there has to be one
I wonder if Andre or Jake ever watched the Donkey Kong Country TV series? Cranky Kong had an appropriate elderly voice in that series.
I did! That voice was definitely more fitting imo - Andre
Aron Tager RIP sounds soooo much better!!!!!!!
Can't wait! Got my ticket for Sunday and taking my 2 year old daughter and wife to see it... (wife is only coming to take my 2 year old daughter out if she starts distracting me or needs a wee..)
I think this will be massive this year even if it sucks or not
"its not ashamed at all of its source material"? Umm what about the whole peach kidnapping thing?
I am so glad the reviews are positive!
@@jermainewright2556 What the hell is wrong with the critics ?
@@jermainewright2556 Or just plain stupid. That could be another reason. Because IGN gave it an 8 even though they have massive Sony bias.
It’s at 46% in rotten tomatoes. That’s not good
@@DSxGoldSilverThese same critics give mediocre movies like Avatar 2 insane ratings. If you determine if a game, movie, book, or show is worth watching because some idiot online told you so, then you are delusional.
@@DSxGoldSilver Again, still very biased.
I’m also A Mario fan to years growing up, playing Mario games, like Mario sunshine, and super Mario 3D world this be my first time seeing the movie tomorrow.
awful movie according to most of the critics but it is a 9.5 to martio fans..
Critics don’t really matter.
@@arminius504 hopefully it dnt get in the way of a potential good sequel lol
Im watching the movie ON April 7th
I enjoyed most of the movie. But I feel like Miyamoto meddled with it a bit and hut the movie at certain points. Especially at the ending with how the final battle wraps up. Even so, its one of my favorite Illumination films.
I'M READY FOR TOMORROW
Same as well
My body is ready
"I saw glimpse of trailers and I thought there was more to them" Same. I wanted more moments to breathe with these characters. Even recalling what I saw in this film.. felt like a blur. It moved too fast. I did appreciated the 90 minute run-time but I appreciate your point too.
I didn't pick up on the "what is this place?" line, but as soon as you mentioned it, I remembered exactly where it was actually used in the movie.
hey, will you have a spoiler review tomorrow or wait until April 7th when more people watched it?
I think that the "What is this place?" Line is said in the trailer where they show the Kart Maker part.
I guarantee if they spent too much time learning how mario became mario people would hate it. You find out why he is in this world and that's all you need. You can not overthink it
Mario & Luigi in IMAX!
I watched the movie Yesterday and it was amazing! Thanks Nintendo and Illumination! :)
@GameXplain I just have a small question for you... is it a musical or the rumors were false?
Yes and no
OH YES! I CAN NOT WAIT TO WATCH IT AT THE MOVIES TOMORROW WITH MY SCHOOL FRIENDS
The thing about Jack Black’s Bowser and not to Pratt’s… is that as they hide Chris’s because of a LOT of people criticizing that choice and favor it more for Jack’s “nailing” it then our expectations were soooooo much different for both of them even the two MADE AN AWESOME job.
Describing it like a theme park ride is a good analogy. I was too busy having fun to really care about the flaws.
