  • As the heat has continued upwards we were very pleased to see the tractor come with five deliveries of leaves which we will use for compost and much needed mulch in this hot weather. The tractor driver has struggled to find workers to load the leaves which is why it has taken so long for him to come. The work we did this week has been driven by the effects of the heat and has included replanting a bed where some of the soil had got very dry so many of the seedlings died. We also of course have to take measures to ensure the bed doesn’t dry out again. Which means making sure the irrigation system is working properly and maybe giving the seedlings some extra water until they are properly established. We had a group of students from Bangalore come to help us and were delighted with the bed clearing and planting that they did for us. After raking up leaves falling from our Peepul tree for several weeks, suddenly, in not more than 24 hours the new leaves came out. The tree is now a beautiful vibrant green and as you walk into Buddha Garden it looks like a crown over the whole place.
