- Sabaton and guitarist Tommy Johansson have parted ways. Johansson played for Sabaton between 2016 and present day, and is leaving the band to pursue his musical career outside the band. Sabaton has not yet named a replacement for Johansson 🇸🇪

Last week "No easy way out" gets another meaning... It is a loss to see Tommy leave Sabaton, but I fully understand him, he has been great with and for Sabaton, but it was kind of wasting his other talents and creativity. Saying no to his (probably) largest source of income to chase his dreams is the right move at this point and deserves some respect. Sabaton helped Tommy and vice versa, now is a new chapter coming. Life happens.
Yeah this is a good thing overall and I'm excited to see his next chapter and what he does next. Sabaton will be fine.
In my opinion, this is a smart decision from Tommy. I wish him a lot of success. Sabaton, as I know them, will remain awesome.
I agree. This is for the best. He is an amazing front man and musician that he seems ready to take off with his other projects

Yeah it won't change much except maybe Tommy will be more involved in Majestica and grow that band. This is probably for the better.
It's bittersweet. While we will all miss him in Sabaton, he has more than earned the right to do his own thing and succeed on his own accord. I hope Tommy and Sabaton continue to have success for the years to come and maybe one day we will see Tommy and Sabaton tour again, except this time as Sabaton x Majestica.
Oh for sure. It was a good time. He has a great flow and routine now and It was good he did it now before Sabaton went full time again.
@@DaneBramageROCKS agreed. Definitely would have been nice to see him with the crew in their upcoming American tour (hopefully I can go this time), but I get it and it is for the best for both Sabaton and Tommy.
@@troybaxter Tommy says on his instagram that he will be on the north american tour with Sabaton ..he is probably sdigning off after that ..but of course plans can change

Not really surprised to be honest. Got impression he wanted to spend more time with Majestica and other projects. Sabaton will find another guitarist and Tommy will go on to fulfill his dreams. I totally understand Tommy in this case. It's sad but at the same time, it opens up for him collaborating with other artists on other projects as well.

Honestly, not surprised. It was a matter of time. I wasn't expecting it to be now, though. Tommy has so much going on, something has to go... It's sad in one way, because I love him being in Sabaton. On the other hand I think he's doing the right thing and I will continue to support him and Majestica, a band that I'm a big fan of.🤘 Hope for more new music from them soon... 😉
Sabaton is my favourite band and it will stay that way, with or without Tommy. I'm sure they will find a worthy guitar player. They never do any half measures. 🤘
Well, I was not hoping it would be now but he has been busy and I think he found a new flow and routine and made the call before Sabaton got back to it full time. Either way, yes, continued support is absolute!
Honestly I'm not truly surprised he's going back to focusing on just his own stuff.
He's too good of a musician and singer to not want to go for it solo. So I wish all the best for Tommy. And Sabaton will be just fine without him. Just like with Thobbe in 2016, while they will personally miss him, they'll adjust quickly.
Tommy is also already 36 (doesn't look it though) and has been making music since at least 2000, he's been around a long time already.
I don't mean to sound rude or mean etc. but he's slowly (or quickly, I don't know anymore) running out of time to be recognized in the mainstream as "Tommy Johansson" instead of "a Sabaton guitarist". edit. and thats if they recognize him at all. The people online are not the majority after all...
He had his own band ReinXeed now Majestica for years and done alot of other projects before Sabaton!!! Tommy is a phenomenal musician and a good singer but not brilliant singing live!!! I've loved Sabaton for over 20 years and Tommy for last 14/15 years!! I wish him all the Best for the Future 🤘🎸🤘🎸🤘
Yeah it does make sense and I am not totally surprised either. I know he loves playing with Sabaton but he does have other goals. He will do very well.
A vida dele estava muito corrida, ele precisa de tempo com qualidade para ele fazer os projetos dele, eu sei que tanto os meninos do Sabaton e os fãs vão sentir muitas saudades porque ele além de talentoso é uma pessoa gentil , humilde, feliz, bom de coração, ou seja uma pessoa que você confia e quer está sempre do lado dele. Mas precisa de tempo para a família, magesttic, o RUclips, e também se dedicar a sua saúde mental e física. Ele não é o 🦸🏋️. Tem que se cuidar.

Bollocks!! It's his band and Pars. If he went they would be finished!!!
You get that that's a running joke based on the fact that Joakim joined as a keyboardplayer and a songwriter. He also never wanted to sing, but unlike some people he got to be a famous and succesful frontman without dreaming of it as a kid (which makes some people really jealous...).
In the beginning he wasn't a singer and hated it + he thought that he would only do rehearsals and that they'd find a "real singer", but then they ended up playing live shows with him singing (and playing keyboards) and doing record deals and by then (early 2000's) it was too late for him to drop singing. His voice is a part of the bands identity.
By 2005, when people really started to realise Sabaton excisted at all, they were no longer even thinking of anyone else. And even if for some reason they had got a different singer, Joakim would still have been the keyboardplayer and songwriter!

Glad it didn't come to life because as @milah said, he is the band's identity. I love his voice for this group.
