Been a fan since Bless the Martyr, seen them a few times, and got to pre-game at a bar with Cory, then stand and jump around with them at a small show, helped them load their stuff in their van, after partied at my local pub, then after-after partied with them at the house they were crashing at and it was the best night of my life even 10 years later. The line up has changed since but Cory and the guys are just the chillest, most humble, appreciative and sincere guys. I got a tattoo of their unofficial symbol from O God the Aftermath and we all compared our same tats and they were so stoked and listened to me tell them how much their music has touched my life and MY GOD i love these guys. Past and present. Long live the Almighty Norma Jean.
That's so fucking awesome, dude. I've been listening to them since I was 15 (30 now) and I finally got to see them for their Redeemer anniversary tour. Hearing A Small Spark Vs A Great Forest live, with the whole band dropping out and the crowd screaming "FIGHT FAIR" will probably be one of my top favorite concert moments of all time.
You's be surprised to find out lots of vocalists can jam with their bands. To name just three of the top of my head I would say Josh Scogin (OG vocalist of Norma Jean, The Chariot, '68). Spencer Chamberlin (Underoath) wrote the intro riff to In Regards to Myself and more, and Anthony Green (Circa Survive and The Sound of Animals Fighting) is a solid guitar player/writer. Now I will say a lot of vocalist start out knowing very little about playing a guitar or other instruments but by traveling across the country they tend to learn how to play it.
Really not so rare lol A lot of vocalists play instruments and write songs but choose to focus solely on their vocal performance in a band setting. It's pretty common.
@@orangedrone Cory does write a lot of the guitar as well, which is mostly why, no matter who comes as goes, Norma Jean is still Norma Jean. Such a talented artist all around.
The breakdown at the end of Ahna is the greatest piece of music ever recorded. It feels like going down a 300-foot drop on a roller coaster listening to it.
Redeemer is my favorite record by NJ and my third favorite record in my life. Polar Similar is nearly behind. After that, Meridional, Wrongdoers and Anti-Mother. Cory Brandan, favorite vocalist in genre. I wanna say, how much i love Norma Jean spirit sound. I saw one comment on metalsucks page, who wrote something like...NJ without Joshua doesnt have any heart. Did people know, that Goose recorded every cymbal from his drum kit separately for Wrongdoers? And that every album is recorded live? There is no vocalist, beside Cory and Keith Buckley, where i can hear so many emotions in their broken voices. All Hail is one of the reasons, why i am glad, to be alive. I cant express by words, how much i love this kind of music.
Jack Cravford dude I’m with you on everything you wrote!!! Redeemer is my favorite and I really loved Polar Similar as a close second. All Hail the Almighty Norma Jean 🙌
@@jackcravford8744 Fr dude. Not many bands in the genre have stayed this consistent over the years. I can only say that August Burns Red, Trivium, and Killswitch Engage as more "mainstream metalcore" still stay true to their sound.
@@jasonlovesmusicreacting882 what about every time i die, comeback kid or cancer bats? but their are more hardcore/sludgy. I dont like them consider as metalcore, same with Norma Jean. These bands are more into heavy bass guitars and sludge parts, than riffs with breakdowns.

Loved Norma Jean since I was a freshman in high school. I’m almost 30 now and they’re one of the very few bands from that time that I still love and listen to all of the time.
man O God the Aftermath for me is one of the heaviest and most chaotic sounding albums ive heard. I listen to Converge and Dillinger as well, but something about "O God..." always does it for me
Wow. You guys have come so far on this ride. This is going to be an amazing album, it sounds so full and atmospheric. Like your new guitarist said, some heavy riffs. I'm super excited to own another Norma Jean album to my collection. Even found a luti-kriss album at my local record store when I was 17 😉
This album was amazing. Out of all of the albums released that year by new bands and old bands that were reuniting or finally releasing new music, this album was the best. Norma Jean is so awesome.
It's just the instrumental recording from the album played to footage of the band playing it in person. Would have been cooler to hear them actually perform it.
Did Jeff Hickey write guitar parts for this record? I know he's no longer with the current lineup but he's playing with them here. I hope the guy gets healthy and comes back to the current lineup eventually. He's fuckin awesome!
Like alot of modern albums from legendary bands this album took a couple listens but it might actually be my favorite album. Its got a nice slow build then its just fucking slamming
God I love it when bands use acoustic drums to record!!! I can’t stand the electronic sound the electric drums put out. I don’t know why but I just can’t.
