I like to use absorbent and natural fabrics like 100% cotton- things like terry cloth on one side and a lighterwight cotton on the other, flannel on both sides, a medium weight cotton, cottone interlock, anything like that would be fine. Have fun!
I made several of these bibs this past week. Your instructions are very clear and easy to understand. I wish everyone could give instructions like you. Because of my success with these bibs i am looking forward to additional sewing projects. Keep up the godd work. Thanks again, gvf
Where were you when my kids were little?!!! You are sooo clear in your instuctions! I'll probably make some of your projects anyway to help strengthen my sewing skills. You're a great teacher!
you are a gifted teacher. have made many of your projects...fabric flowers, bread, zipper wristlet. instructions are fast paced, clear and the boring parts are edited out (ie: watching the entire seam go through the machine.)
I just bought my first sewing machine and I have made a few burp cloths for practice, but this looks like a great next project. Thanks for the great video, very informative. I might even be able to convince my wife to try sewing once she sees how easy it can be.
I too, love your tutorials. I use them all the time. Now when asked where I get my pattern or if I have a pattern, I am telling everyone that asks about your tutorials. Not only do I tell them you explain things so well but make the job simple and easy even for those with less time and younger sewers that need to have the instruction as well.
Tywone4: Thanks for commenting! Glad you enjoyed the video. :o) For absorbency you want to stick to 100% cotton fabrics. Anything along the lines of flannel, terry cloth, etc. In the video, all the fabrics shown were 100% cotton, flannel. This is the same fabric I use to make cloth wipes for cleaning up baby messes, too.
You are my favorite crafter to learn from. Your videos are so easy to learn from and the things you make are amazing. I just love learning how to make the items you show us.
You probably could but I would make sure it's something food safe and non-toxic to have around babies. Maybe look into the PUL stuff that is often used in cloth diapers. It sews just like fabric and can be wiped down like vinyl.
@MsBetterbegood hahaha... thanks! Glad to help! Be sure to subscribe to my channel if you like what you see. I post a new video every Monday and have a lot more projects posted. Check 'em out! :o)
@camryn64 You should take a look in my Beginner Sewing Projects playlist for more easy to do tutorials that may be helpful. I have tutorials for baby leg warmers, pajama pants, burp cloth, and some others that may work. Good luck and congrats on the new sibling!
Hi, I really like your tutorials. My question is about the fabric. Is there any special ir can be anything like T-shirt. Thanks a lot. Keep the good work up!
@taelortaelor Maneuvering your fabric around curves just takes practice. The best way is to slow down until you feel comfortable enough to take the curves at a higher speed.. Just practice! Hope that helps. :o)
So I have a bunch of baby bibs and would like to turn them into those feeder catching bibs where its easy to wipe down. any suggestions? can I just sew the clear plastic sheet onto it?
Thanks!!! Im somewhat new to sewing..and this was a great video for me!! I really apreciate it...double like lol! Oh btw where did you get those scissors and the snaps?
EeshieKing: You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I buy my snaps and snap pliers from a company you can find listed on the right sidebar on my blog. Check it out at craftygemini{dot}blogspot{dot}com.
Hi Vanessa, Love watching your videos. I wanted to try making this bib, but seems that your pattern is no longer available. Is it available anywhere else?
I suck sewing curves and can never keep the seam the right size so if I have a baby bib and want to use it as the pattern can I take a piece of fabric and trace around the bib and sew on the line and just cut off the excess? Would it come out the same size?
@creativecute101 Go to craftygemini(dot)com. Click on the tab that reads: "tutorials" and then under the "Baby/Child Items" list click on the first one- "Baby Bib." The link is in that blog post.

That baby has to be a teenager by now. How cute.

It's really fun to see the early video "studio" and to see Juice as a baby.

Could I use a piece of towel as the back side and then fabric on front side?
So I have a bunch of baby bibs and would like to turn them into those feeder catching bibs where its easy to wipe down. any suggestions? can I just sew the clear plastic sheet onto it?
When I make bibs or burp cloths I put a piece of rip stop nylon in the center to make it water proof.
thanks so much really helpful.
Hi Vanessa, can you recommend what type of fabric would be suitable to make the bib please?
Thanks!!! Im somewhat new to sewing..and this was a great video for me!! I really apreciate it...double like lol! Oh btw where did you get those scissors and the snaps?

i love this video
Wouldn't it be easier to cut the 2 pieces out at the same time so that there's no chance that there are any differences?
@magicalproductionsxo Thanks!
tried to get the pattern but it was not possible. Kindly give us another web site. Thanks, Nilda
Is there another pattern for the bib? That link no longer works. Thanks
I tried the link you put up for the bib pattern...but it's not working....is there another link you can share please?
Where can we get the pattern, your link doesn't work anymore. Thanks
I reckon I'm too old for a baby bib now, which is a shame, since they're so nice nowadays. ;)
