I shared this song with my dying dad. He came under conviction of sin and cried out to God about a year and a half ago. He closed his eyes and listened intently to the words of this beautiful song...his head swayed back and forth as he soaked in the words. When it ended, he said, "Lovely!" Thank you for sharing this version. Thank you, Father, for sending Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Psalm 105:2-3 Sing to him, sing praises to him;tell of all his wondrous works! Glory in his holy name;let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!
"who looked on Him and pardoned me." The grace and love of God is to judge us on what He did in the flesh. Leaving no room for self righteousness or spiritual pride. Jesus broke through a religion to teach us this among other lessons..Religious pride is at odds with God, this is one big reason why Jesus sat with the sinners and forgives the humble enough to admit guilt. love you..
It's Good Friday today I didn't go to Church so my grandson sent me this song to listen to. I listened to this song all afternoon it's so beautiful. beautiful. beautiful beautiful.
Listening to this group of men sing this beautiful song gives us a glimpse of what heaven will be like. Brings chills down my spine. Jesus really is beautiful.
Imagine if God the Father did not send God the Son to die for us and the God the Son did not send God the Holy Spirit to be our guide, comfort and strengthener. All men we call Christians today would have perished in unending punishment.
@Lee Bee. This hymn is the whole gospel and it is about the christian, the one who is born anew. It says nowhere that Satan convicts, but Satan "tempts" (to lose hope) and he "accuses" (reminding them of their past, bringing guilt). Remember that he is the accuser of the brethren, accusing day and night (Rev 12:10). Many christians suffer from understanding what Christ purchased for them by believing that they aren't good enough and each time they despair, they could feel worthless. John in his first letter (chapter 1 & 2) speaks to anyone has sinned, to go to God and ask for forgiveness. The letter to the Galatians speaks on the same subject.
Amor maravilhoso do DEUS Altissimo! Deu-nos seu único Filho! Hoje podemos entrar na presença do Altíssimo, purificados pelo sangue do Corfeiro de DEUS!
Take the most beautiful voice in the congregation and isolate it for a solo performance, and surely God is pleased when such ability is devoted to His glory. But in no instance has that been, nor could it be, a match for a multitude of voices, though perhaps less pleasant to the ear on their own, singing in unison - the church harmonized, in the Spirit, to lift up praise as a one body to their Savior. Ability is no more than an accent to sincere worship, which itself is the substance.
thank you for sharing, i think i heard this before but can't remember for sure..such a beautiful song!! really intense, you got lots of good ones up thank you
AWESOME MUSIC YOU REALLY FEEL GOD' PRESENCE AND THE LYRICS ARE SO POWERFUL WHOA GLAD I FOUND THEM...GOD BLESS THEM I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THEM LIVE....AMEN.
Lee Bee. Your comment is a bit harsh. I respectfully suggest that you read your New Testament again. No way can you call this hymn satanic just because you have misunderstood one verse. The devil is the accuser of the brethren and it will put whatever 'heavy' on a person it likes in order to upset their relationship with Father God and the efficacy of Jesus's sacrifice for us. The devil is not convicting people of sin, it is reminding us of sins that have already been forgiven and attempting to make us re-live them again.
Lee Bee wow dude you've totally missing it. If we claim to be without sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. That's what the song is about. There is no sinless perfection in this life. The sinless perfection was his. Because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy-are being made holy.
One of my favorite songs, but I challenge anyone to find these words “my name is written on his heart” anywhere in Scripture. It’s a nice poetic thought, but lets not get carried away with nice ideas. This is as close as it gets in all the translations available in Bible Gateway. Exodus 28:29 CEV In this way Aaron will have the names of the twelve tribes of Israel written on his heart each time he enters the holy place, and I will never forget my people. That is “written on Aaron’s heart.” How about, "His word is written on my heart?"
@simonwien61 It's not pride, he gets really into it. When I first saw him, I thought it was pride... but he just gets really involved. His song writings skills are superb, his performances... not so much.
Do not sing this hymn, it is satanic. The one who convicts people of their sin is the Holy Spirit of God. He is the one who brings shame and conviction upon people, bringing them to repent of their sins and call out to Jesus to be saved and cleansed. Only Satan, the deceiver, would write a hymn like this trying to pass off God's condemnation as "satanic"! Satan does NOT bring guilt upon Christians-he does the exact opposite, he says "Never mind about sin, you're OK, you just keep on sinning, it's not such a big deal, everything will be fine." However, the Bible makes clear that ungodly Christians who are guilty of sin have no place in the church and will come under God's judgement. 1 John 3:9 "No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God." We must be very wary about the doctrines presented in hymns-especially hymns like this written by women! It almost amounts to teaching.
***** I have honestly never had an experience of Satan making me feel bad about myself. Satan makes people feel good so that they will sin. Satan says "you surely will not die, eat the fruit, all will be fine". The only person who made me feel bad about myself was the Lord God, by my conscience being convicted of sin, back when I was still in sin. Now I have repented and turned from my sin, and He has cleansed me.
***** Surely Satan's "flaming darts" are his attempts to discourage us, and lead us away from godliness and into sin? Surely Satan would never "attack" a Christian by bringing guilt upon them and turning their attention to something that is wrong in their life. The last thing Satan wants is for people to turn from their sin, he only wants to bring people down, and usually that involves deception, confusion, twisting, lying and maligning the Word of God. As for feeling guilty about our past sin, I have never had that experience personally. When the Lord took my sin away, I was lifted, I was clean, I was a new person, and my guilt and shame went away completely. Why should I feel guilty over an evil man who no longer exists, and who isn't me? The only time I feel any kind of "guilt" now is if there is something I am doing wrong and the Lord is trying to bring it to my attention, so that I may change, and that is surely always the work of the Holy Spirit. :)
I feel no guilt over the person I used to be because it's not me. Like all human beings, that person was evil, but when I was born again I no longer was that person.
Dear Lee Bee and Yo Mama, Thank you. This is an interesting thread. I agree with Le Bee about how God convicts unbelieving sinners of their desperate situation, and causes them to mourn & grieve over their sin, and look to Jesus for Salvation. That is also the main part of the Gospel. And, I also understand what Yo Mama means by believers who are haunted by terrible sins from before they were saved, and can't get past the terrible guilt they still feel (I am one of those ... and sometimes I think that if I were trusting more in Christ then I would not have so many times of being overcome with bad memories and guilt.). Though, what concerns me about so many "modern" type churches is that they are NOT preaching about sin and repentance anymore! They don't even quote scriptures that say "Repent and Believe". So many are afraid to preach about sin and they preach about how God is Love and loves everybody. But that is not what the bible teaches. They do not teach that God hates sin and hates evil. Why else did Jesus have to come to earth and live and suffer for us and die? It was the only way to save us from sin and eternal death in hell being under God's wrath. Also of concern, is how many modern Christians want to blame all unpleasant things on Satan! Lee Bee is correct that God makes unpleasant things happen and also convicts us to chastise/discipline us and further conform us to the image of His beloved Son. I can see where the lyrics in this song could be misunderstood by many. Thanks again for this thought provoking thread.

I love the proclamations ( 'shout outs' ) throughout this hymn! What glorious truths! THIS is worship! Just ordered the album online.
I love hymns and those 'shout outs' are my least favourite part. Almost make me turn off the playlist.

@seaFoodSifu OK just sounds it, I still say he spoils this beautiful hymn.
katiekatew, can you tell me who that is speaking? It sounds like a preacher I've heard before.
Matthew Perkins that is Bob Maudlin, sounds a little like CJ Mahaney.
Kauflin, not Mauden

beautiful song, I just posted my version of this hymn, give it a listen and post a comment! thanks
@SouthPointFM As I said above he totally spoils it with his screaming maybe pride as he must be heard
Whoever the guy is that screams out during the song butchers the hymn
It's a lovely song, but I can do without the emotional savant yelling in the background
it works live as an impromptu thing, but recorded it sounds really off.
:/
this isn't a hymn I think!
@SouthPointFM seriously... that dude's screaming was weird. there's passionate, and then there's just feisty. he's feisty.
