    Had I sung this 15 years ago, I'd not really know what I was singing. Today, I can relate to the reality of these words. We want to be like Christ, and rightly so - so we ask and we pursue, but we really don't know what we are asking until we get into the process of being conformed to His image. He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrow and acquainted with grief. Christian, don't think you will be any different if you really want to be like Him.

    I’m only been born again for Four years, yet, this song is so relatable.
    I’ve been overtaken by sudden crippling depression, yet, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for they shall see God.” has been made such a reality for me, for which I thank Him.
    He was a man acquainted with grief...

      Many great Christian of old suffered depression and the Lord kept, blessed and used them. Charles Spurgeon for one. William Cowper the great hymn writer. Amy Carmichael missionary in India wrote her books her lasting legacy when she became bedridden , never to leave her bed till death.
      I am nearly 70 and when I was 15 I became a Christian. From then on I have suffered illnesses . I can testify that my life has been so blessed. The Lord has kept me , grown me, used me.
      Praise be His beautiful name.
      The Lord bless and keep you.

    Romans 8:28, 29 revealed: “....according to His purpose....to be conformed to the image of His Son”. His grace is sufficient; Hallelujah!

    if we are to see or experience more of Gods grace we will have to first face the vile state of our own souls....wow thats backwards from today's religious self aggrandizing mentalities ....

      You're so right. You can't know that you need a savior unless and until you look at the worm. It's an offensive truth.

    What tune is this?

    • @BobBennettMusic
      @BobBennettMusic 6 лет назад +1

      The tune is "O Waly, Waly" (better known as "The Water Is Wide": en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Water_Is_Wide_(song). Many, many versions of this classic Scottish folk song, one of my very favorites is James Taylor's: ruclips.net/video/8kE5ZD57Rc0/видео.html.

      @@BobBennettMusic Thank you for that info. I recognized the melody but I knew the words were not these. When you mentioned Scottish folk song I knew I'd heard The Water is Wide sung by the Scottish band, Runrig. Their version is lovely; so is JT's.😊
