    It's amazing how much more articulate and thought provoking television was in previous decades, these days it only rarely seems to reference "real life" and presents celebrities as some kind of plastic gods..

    Brian Clough at his peak. This is when Cloughie was the greatest Manager in the world. Would have been the greatest England manager next to Ramsey.

  • @vantheman1244

    Brian Clough talks absolute sense here. There is life outside football/professional sport. However, the most difficult thing is to get over it, to get over not playing anymore, and to realise that you're finished. That is the challenge.

    A reminder of what an incredibly articulate, intelligent and honest man Cloughie was. He paved the way for the Alex Ferguson's of the world. He empowered managers and nurtured players with utter passion but also with a clinical professionalism for the corporate nature of the modern game. If he were in his prime now, he'd be like Jose Mourinho....

    • @m.jmarni8279
      @m.jmarni8279 4 года назад +1

      Kennie Dowle he played better football than Jose but Mourinho is a beast but his style of football more akin to a George Graham imho. Cloughie was more like Wenger imho he would use minimal resources to full effect and would just play tidy pass and move football his players rarely rebel because they were treated properly and entertained by his presence. They loved and respected him shame these day’s Wenger was the last Dictator Manager but He was great and consistent dipped in the end and stubborn AF but proud that he entertained me for 22 years teams go in cycles Cloughie was true testament to that success is the man not the trophies 🏆

      +Goalie There's not many, mate. Money has taken over (like the States?) and it's all sound bites and cliches. Clough was a remarkable man (and a lunatic) in many ways. His comments about footballers needing more perspective on life shows how far sighted he was. It is a huge debate in UK now and he was giving advice 30 years ago.

    A one off manager, but also a bully & like many managers of his era took bungs, backhanders & skims. Back then 1950s & earlier pay was poor for players & managers, but as pay improved in 1970s & till now, they couldn't stop the habit. ie Harry.... It still goes on, just utter greed when fans pay £25 & more from hard earned cash.
