- The Navy has released video of two Russian Su-24 jets making low-altitude passes near the destroyer USS Donald Cook in the Baltic Sea on April 11 and 12, 2016.

I worked with old Navy vet who served on the USS Kitty Hawk in the early 1980’s. He said the Soviets did stuff like this all of the time, and we’d do the same thing to them. Soviet subs also would tail the carrier group. If they saw one coming in low and slow, some of our guys would line up on the deck and moon them.
I heard the same exact thing from my buddy who’s currently in the navy except with China

The _Donald Cook_ was 70nmi. away from Kaliningrad Oblast... The Russians do semi-regularly operate along the U.S. coasts.
@@peterson7082 - All the more reason to not get excited. I was stationed, while in the Air Force, at the Alaska Forecast Unit, or AFU. One of my primary responsibilities was direct weather support to ANR, for Alaska NORAD Region. When the red phone rang, I grabbed the most recent weather satellite data, and my restricted area badge, and hot-footed over to NORAD, the two-star, and the Big Board. ALWAYS, there were Russian bombers inbound, and they needed my input to tell our F-15's where they could safely intercept the Russians. This meant knowing the Bear bombers location and course, and doing some pretty nifty forecasting of closure rates, as well as weather system's movements. I got pretty good at this, over time. It got me a Legion of Merit when I retired. I'm not saying it was a game, not at all. As the Commander of ANR told me, when I asked him what would happen if the Russians DIDN'T have a little visit from our guys, "they would keep coming." Not sure I believed him, but the US national ADIZ, or Air Defense Identification Zone, is TWO HUNDREDS MILES from our coastlines. All unidentified planes would be subject to intercept at that point. No wonder the Russians went to say hello to our boys in blue.

For your information: USA has complained and accused Kina and others for violating the Law of Sea (UNCLOS) regarding the fact that Kina has proclaimed there’s right around these islands around Kina in the Kina Sea.
As the only country in the world with coast line, USA is the only one that has not Ratified the Law of Sea (UNCLOS) -
In other words even as the “NATO Commander” , they have no business in the Baltic Sea.
