Andrew Kiest with the Mid America Flight Museum, takes us along for a ride on the museum's beautiful Stinson AT-19. This plane was a real treat to fly and as you can tell, it was really hot that day. Haha. We were thankful it had plenty of air circulation in the plane
To me those Gullwing Stinsons are the most beautiful types of planes ever designed !!!
Great aircraft and video. It looks like one my father, Paul Shacklette, built back in the late 80s or early 90s. He specialized in restoring Stinson aircraft with special focus on Stinson AT-19s. He was very meticulous in detailing out his restored aircraft back to their original design. He would have been very proud to see this video. Thanks for sharing. Pete Shacklette.
I flew a Gulwing on floats in northern Canada. Always seemed to fly a little nose up. 1937 SR-10
I really enjoy the way Andrew presents the airplanes to us and your video work is excellent. Those small diameter steering wheel looking yokes are neat.
From the rear its wings are very Lysanderesque. Great to see the old girl in the air
Greetings from the UK, another brilliant video, thanks for sharing! 👍
Great video and great format! More please!
Dam good well done Erik🥇
too Cool!
Lovely.
Erik.....you're the bees knees
Beautiful airplane!
If I could afford the cost of avgas, I'd probably fly that every day that the weather was decent. I'm not that tall of a guy, so I'd fit nicely in there. Incidentally, I did run across a flight instructor that's 7'6" and 300#, you'd need prybars and a lot of soap to get him in that; just a 172 is a challenge for him. Still, she's a beautiful plane. Thanks for sharing her with us.
Wow, I bet you have to be careful not to kick the fuel selector switch! That would make me nervous...
From my classic aircraft magazine collection, it looks familiar. Was it once owned by the NASA astronaut Frank Borman?
