- The pouring of the concrete slab for the swimming pool is the subject of this video. You can also see how I make a formwork and how I apply the reinforcement. I hired a company to pour the concrete.
Due to rising groundwater and rainwater, the walls were constantly calving. As a result, parts of the walls collapsed a little. Before I could install the formwork, I first had to scoop the sand of the collapsed walls. In addition, I also had to turn on the submersible pump every time to pump out the constantly rising groundwater.
I installed the formwork in these circumstances. I made the formwork from concrete plywood boards. I tapped these boards about four inches into the sand and connected them together with metal corners of stainless steel. With this the concrete slab of at least be 15 cm thick. Of course I placed the boards level and 1 meter below ground level, measured from the top of the boards. When the formwork was ready I leveled the bottom of sand within as much as possible, with a rake.
I placed construction foil in the formwork, this is better for the curing process of the concrete. I placed half concrete tiles on top of the construction foil and on top of that mesh mats of steel for the reinforcement. I overlapped these steel mats and braided them together. With that, my work was finished and the pouring of the concrete slab could begin.
The company I had hired for this came at the agreed time with a cement truck and a concrete pump. The cement was pumped through a 25-meter hose from the street to the hole in the backyard. 20 minutes later the concrete floor was poured I could start leveling. With boots on, I stepped into the liquid cement with a straight metal slab and a trowel to finish and smooth the top layer. About an hour later I was done with that.
Shortly afterwards it had rained lightly so that the top layer, unfortunately, was no longer so smooth after the first part of the curing process. They call this a concrete floor with rain damage. I knew I would still have to level the floor at a later stage in the project, so this was no problem.
The next day I was already able to walk on the concrete slab and make preparations for bricklaying the walls of the pool.

Hi leuke videos. Heb je nog overwogen om de vloer te vlinderen?
Ik sta op het punt een soortgelijk project te starten. Het storten van de vloer is wel iets waar ik tegenop zie.
Bedankt voor je reactie. Ik heb niet overwogen om de vloer te vlinderen. Ik kan mij goed voorstellen dat je er tegenop ziet hoor. Ik heb ook veel momenten van twijfel gehad bij de diverse klussen. Dat is de onzekerheid die je hebt omdat je veel dingen nooit zelf gedaan hebt. Uiteindelijk viel het, achteraf gezien, allemaal wel mee. Als je van te voren alles goed hebt doordacht, en goed hebt gekeken hoe anderen het gedaan hebben, is het gewoon een kwestie van doen.
I m building something similar here in the US, why not plaster and paint with using a waterproof paint? What made you go with a liner? Thank you.

Er is 4 m³ beton gegoten voor mijn betonvloer. De vloer is 18 tot 19 cm dik.
Hi there I am currently doing mine did u not put any hard-core or balast on the base under the membrane? Also how thick was ur base was it 8"? 🤔 many thanks
Hi Trini,
I did not use anything else then sand under the membrane. In Holland that is a very thick and well settled piece of soil. The concrete floor is a little bit less than 8 inch thick, 7.48 inch to be precise.

Hier een lelystedeling, waarom heb je eigenlijk voorbdit cement gekozen wat zolang moer drogen?
Dag Marcel (mede flevolander :-), ik heb gekozen voor een bedrijf die het voor een redelijke prijs kon storten op het moment dat het mij uitkwam. Ik heb toen niet zozeer opgelet op het type beton. Als je er de volgende dag op kan lopen dan vind ik dat het best wel snel gaat, toch? Ik had ergens gelezen dat het uitharden van beton altijd langer duurt, dus ook al kan je er op lopen dan wil dat niet zeggen dat het beton uitgehard is, dat proces gaat nog lang door. Dank voor je reactie.
Hoe lang heb je gewacht dan tot je de blokken kon plaatsen? Ik kom graag eens bij je langs in alm om te kijken.
Tussen het beton storten en het begin van het metselen van de eerste laag betonblokken zat 19 dagen. Een maand na het beton storten ben ik de betonblokken pas gaan opslaan in de tent op de betonvloer omdat toen de uiteindelijke sterkte zou zijn bereikt.
Ik waardeer je belangstelling en enthousiasme enorm, maar ik kan, omwille van privacy, niet ingaan op een bezoek aan huis. Bovendien is alles zichtbaar in de video's. Als je aangeeft wat je precies wil zien of weten dan kan ik dat misschien eens in een video opnemen als het zwembad weer uit de "winterstand" is.
