00:34 Mashing the bananas
02:51 Adding the wet ingredients
04:27 Adding the dry ingredients
06:09 Chopping the walnuts
07:21 Baking the bread
08:53 Tasting the bread
INGREDIENTS
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2 large bananas)
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup white granulated sugar
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 tsp kosher salt
- 1 cup toasted walnuts chopped
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease one 8.5 x 4.5 loaf pan and set it aside.
- In a medium bowl, add the mashed banana, sugar, and egg. Whisk to combine. Add the melted and slightly cooled butter, milk, and vanilla. Whisk until smooth.
- Add the flour, baking powder, and salt. Use the tines of the whisk to fold the wet and dry ingredients together. Mix until most of the ingredients are combined with a few dry pieces remaining. Add ¾ of the chopped walnuts into the batter and fold to combine. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and top with the remaining chopped walnuts.
- Bake in the preheated 350°F oven until the center of the bread is domed and a skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean, 60-70 minutes. Once baked, remove the bread from the oven and cool in the pan for 15 minutes. Remove from the pan and cool on a rack for 45 minutes.

I'm SO making this! Then, making a loaf subbing old fashioned oat for the nuts...for my nut allergy grandson (might even add some chocolate chips for him).

Ok we know the bread is going to be delicious but can we please talk about that cute little pot you melted the butter in?!? ❤❤
Oh I'm hungry now for banana bread. Have a great weekend.
Bananabread is my hubby his favourite one 🤭😍 I often add dark chocolate in winter and fresh blueberries in summer just to add a little extra ❤

I cant wait to try your grandma's recipe 😋 my grandma had given me her recipe box and the only one that had the amounts written for each ingredient was the banana bread recipe and im assuming it's because it was the only baked good recipe. Literally all the other ones were just index cards with the name of the dish and an ingredient list lol so far, ive managed to crack the code on 5 of the recipes so that they taste exactly like grandma's did
Yummy 😋
How uplifting !
Change out options, stir in fresh blueberries just before putting in the pan and frost with a lime glaze.
I know- sounds odd...it has a bright flavor.
Another option, use an 8 x 8 pan. Stir some cinnamon in the batter. Top with a cinnamon/flour/butter/salt streusel. Bake. It is a banana bread- coffee cake sort of feel/taste.
Yum!
This looks so delicious!! I LoVe banana nut bread. I make a loaf in my bread maker every couple of months or so. So yummy and perfect with a hot cup of coffee in the morning. Thanks for your recipe. I could smell the delicious aroma from here!
I use pecans instead of walnuts because of allergies. Taste just as good.
New subscriber wow hooked on your channel! Food gardening decor one stop shopping lol your website is great also! Thanks for sharing all your gifts and talents! 😊
This looks similar to what I used to make. I always used frozen bananas that I thawed overnight in the fridge. It was very popular with friends & family.
hubby likes green ones, yuck, but works for us cuz I love 'em brown and love baking with them in that state, too!
Can you share the recipe for the homemade Vanilla? I would like to make it!
My homemade vanilla essence is going on 4 years now. I put loads of Madagascar vanilla pods in a bottle and covered them with vodka. Let them sit for months. Once you start using the vanilla you top up with more vodka. I think Americans use bourbon sometimes instead of vodka. (The alcohol cooks off during cooking). You tube has recipes too. Good luck.
Cinnamon :)
When will you produce a COOKBOOK???
How do you freeze your bananas???
How do you make your own vanilla
question: do you have to refrigerate this? because if you do, the bread won't be soft like if you used oil.
Hi sweet man~ I see that you mashed the bananas on your wooden board. How do you clean it ?
How might I modify this recipe to not include walnuts? My grandson is allergic to tree nuts, those that grow on bushes, and also peanuts. To me honest, I don’t know if he’s allergic to soy beans (a nut or a bean)? Just trying to be careful.
