    Skip ahead:
    00:00 Intro
    00:34 Mashing the bananas
    02:51 Adding the wet ingredients
    04:27 Adding the dry ingredients
    06:09 Chopping the walnuts
    07:21 Baking the bread
    08:53 Tasting the bread
    INGREDIENTS
    - 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
    - 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2 large bananas)
    - 3/4 cup whole milk
    - 1 large egg
    - 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
    - 1 cup white granulated sugar
    - 3 cups all-purpose flour
    - 3 1/4 tsp baking powder
    - 3/4 tsp kosher salt
    - 1 cup toasted walnuts chopped
    INSTRUCTIONS
    - Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease one 8.5 x 4.5 loaf pan and set it aside.
    - In a medium bowl, add the mashed banana, sugar, and egg. Whisk to combine. Add the melted and slightly cooled butter, milk, and vanilla. Whisk until smooth.
    - Add the flour, baking powder, and salt. Use the tines of the whisk to fold the wet and dry ingredients together. Mix until most of the ingredients are combined with a few dry pieces remaining. Add ¾ of the chopped walnuts into the batter and fold to combine. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and top with the remaining chopped walnuts.
    - Bake in the preheated 350°F oven until the center of the bread is domed and a skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean, 60-70 minutes. Once baked, remove the bread from the oven and cool in the pan for 15 minutes. Remove from the pan and cool on a rack for 45 minutes.

I cant wait to try your grandma's recipe 😋 my grandma had given me her recipe box and the only one that had the amounts written for each ingredient was the banana bread recipe and im assuming it's because it was the only baked good recipe. Literally all the other ones were just index cards with the name of the dish and an ingredient list lol so far, ive managed to crack the code on 5 of the recipes so that they taste exactly like grandma's did

Change out options, stir in fresh blueberries just before putting in the pan and frost with a lime glaze.
I know- sounds odd...it has a bright flavor.
Another option, use an 8 x 8 pan. Stir some cinnamon in the batter. Top with a cinnamon/flour/butter/salt streusel. Bake. It is a banana bread- coffee cake sort of feel/taste.

This looks similar to what I used to make. I always used frozen bananas that I thawed overnight in the fridge. It was very popular with friends & family.

My homemade vanilla essence is going on 4 years now. I put loads of Madagascar vanilla pods in a bottle and covered them with vodka. Let them sit for months. Once you start using the vanilla you top up with more vodka. I think Americans use bourbon sometimes instead of vodka. (The alcohol cooks off during cooking). You tube has recipes too. Good luck.

How might I modify this recipe to not include walnuts? My grandson is allergic to tree nuts, those that grow on bushes, and also peanuts. To me honest, I don’t know if he’s allergic to soy beans (a nut or a bean)? Just trying to be careful.
