- We wish we NEVER MET Budi, and we wish YOU never know he existed. But why?
Orangutan rescues should never have to happen. There should never be a situation where an orangutan is forced to live outside of their natural home. However, there is some uplifting news: the BKSDA, working with our incredible partners YIARI have been addressing the root of the issue over the past decade!
Back in 2014, when Budi was saved, there were 24 other orangutan rescues. But just last year, that number dropped to a mere 3. How did they achieve something so remarkable?
The lack of awareness about orangutan conservation in isolated communities was a major factor in Budi's year of suffering. YIARI stepped in with education and outreach programs, educating these communities about the importance of preserving orangutans in their natural rainforest habitat.

I don’t mind donating. But really shouldn’t those big corporations responsible for destroying Budi’s natural habitat be asked to donate money too. After all they’re the ones who gained financially from all this. Getting huge donation from them is better than collecting nickel and dimes from us folks.
They should, but big corporation are responsible. Steve Irwin himself had to fight to have land conservated, they only care about profit
