Congratulations on being able to add Ping products to your matrix. I suspect this will help your business significantly given the number of people I know who swear by Ping.
Love the honesty of your reviews and not just using all the manufacturers hype. Surprised by the results as they were so different to my golf spy, who to me also seem very honest and not hype driven. I guess the answer is get fitted.
Absolutely that mate!! It's mental in fittings how such similar golfers can end up with polar opposites drivers for no apparent reason. One driver that is amazing for someone is awful for another. There are so many intangible aspects to clubs and how we react to them that creates good performance. So yeah absolutely, you have to get fitted 👌 and by no way am I saying the Pings are bad, they are up with the best for sure, for the right person they will be unbeatable
Enjoyed the review and the honesty. Great that you also hit the Cobra, I was thinking it was maybe just a bad swing day (by your standards). Look forward to seeing an average mid hcp golfer in a fitting with a Ping in the mix, it’s your fitting videos that I enjoy the most!
This is why I love all the different videos and opinions. We’re all different. The Max was so left biased for me and the 10k was so neutral and even gave me a bit of a fade. Like you the left side of the course is a no go. One thing I do have similar is how low spin those heads are for forgiving heads. Again as echoed, get fit 💙
Thumbs up given for the dog!!! I'm glad you, as a better player, did this video. I play the LST now and I was interested in the 10k, but the sound if SOOO bad. I've heard it outdoors and it's awful. The LST is the quietest of the bunch in practical usage. The 10k is the loudest and highest pitch. IMHO you hit the LST best. Maybe that's why EVERY tour player uses the LST. I'd like to see you hit the 10k in a 9° head instead of tweaking the 10.5°. Thanks for your honesty.
I just disagree with your sound assessment. It's actually made the same way as the LST with the carbonfly wrap. THe MAX version is by far the loudest out of the 3.
@@MXJEFF94 They are all awful :). But if you go to PING website and specifically the 10k page, they say the made it louder than the Max. From the site: "The multi-material head’s sound is less muted and slightly louder than the G430 MAX to give you a sense of even more powerful, satisfying tee shots." ACK!!! Its the middle of the page with the square graphical bullet points.
@@MXJEFF94 from the PING website on the 10k: "The G430 10k multi-material head’s sound is less muted and louder than the G430 MAX to give you a sense of even more powerful, satisfying tee shots."
Finally somebody tested all 3 ping heads at once! Nicely done. I admit I was quite surprised by the results, especially the old max head. I have been told spin wise it goes LST lowest, MAX is the highest, and the max 10k fits in between, but thats not really what showed up. I was in tsi3 and I just picked up a max 10k. Usually i go for low spin heads as thats a problem for me. The max 10k for me is pretty straight, very straight actually, but it is a bit spinny for me, up to 2700-2800. The spin is very consistent across the face, but I can't figure it out. Other drivers, if I want a low spin bomber I can try for a slight high toe strike to pull spin off, and they will. The 10k doesn't seem to do that. Low strikes can be 2000 spin or 2700 spin. High strikes are the same. Overall the spin for me is pretty stable at 2700ish, but it just sees kinda weird. Probably going to swap it for either TSR3 or Ai smoke TD, but I need to test the cobra darkspeed ls now.
Good video. I didn’t have a great experience with the 10k driver (despite the hype from several online reviewers lol). I tried it with multiple shafts as well and just did not get on with it. What’s surprising to me is how limited the adjustments are with the Ping hosel. I’m a bit shocked there is no upright setting but they have a flat setting 🤷🏻♂️. I know Ping drivers are billed as the most forgiving and I think that upright setting would help elevate it even more because most players would benefit from a little more of an “anti-right” setting. At that price point as well I believe the 10k may be a bit more bark than bite. Keep up the good work! It is very much appreciated 🙏
The LST results are very impressive. Seems like the 10K needs to be lofted down 1* and then the overall numbers of all 3 clubs would be more in alignment. I have the 10K and have tried the MAX and LST. They're all awesome. The 10k forgiveness is amazing.
Just got fitted this week. 430 Max gave me more distance and less dispersion than the 430 Max 10k. Plus it saved me some bucks too! Definitely got more spin and higher flight with the MAX over the 10k
That's great! Why getting fitted pays off 💪 I'm sure the tech in the 10k is great but it's never going to be leaps and bounds beyond the normal max. For most the normal max will be just as good, and as you've discovered sometimes better!
Yeah the 10K is obviously great but it's certainly not leaps ahead of the Max as we all kinda knew it wouldn't be. It's the same with every manufacturer year on year, the gains are small now
Pea was looking at you like you were crazy chatting to no one🤣I love my Ping 430 Max. I like ping Drivers as a rule.I have 9 degree set at 9 degree with the weight set to draw. Tour stiff shaft…love it ⛳️🏌🏻
I’ve had the ping lst, switched to titelist tsr3 and wow. Never going back. It’s the most forgiving low spinning monster I’ve ever used. Even out of the toe it doesn’t lose ball speed. Amazing.
Good job bringing in Ping. And very interesting results. As Ping guy this was very insightful. And exactly why I put my money into lessons. If your swing is good, all these drivers will yield similiar results. But when you only had 3-4 that felt goods out of 30 or so shots, as they say, ball dont lie! Cheers mate.
Another nice review Ross. I will be sticking with my G425 12” Max as I can’t afford to keep changing! 😂 Can you get hold of the new Eleven Golf driver to give a review please? Also give your view on their irons. Gorgeous looking visla as well btw.
Thanks mate! And yeah 425 performed well. Just sounds horrible 😂😂 and not even heard of it and don't know anything about it mate really. I've got so much content to get edited and other videos in the pipeline that it's unlikely I'm afraid. Maybe when we are a bigger channel and I have time to put into the channel we will be able to do more content like that. unfortunately at the minute this is only a very small side thing for me and very limited time to do it
Just tested it with ventus tr blue 6x with the 22 gram weight instead of 28 gram. Brings swing weight down to d4. But holy man it was good with the ping 2.0 65x but with the ventus, next level
Interesting review. I have a 430 Max 10.5 that I dial down to 9 and I still have high spin issues. If I hit a draw I'm usually around 3k-3.2k backspin (fades get up to 4k and a lot of distance is sacrificed) and would prefer about 2500. Good chance it's my delivery but my launch monitor (Skytrak+) doesn't display angle of attack unfortunately. Anyways, goes to show that you need to hit the clubs yourself as one guy might have low spin issues and the next guy high spin. Delivery is everything. :)
Had the cobra darkspeed ls and was fitted for it, got a redo because didn’t really work out. Got refit into a Ping G430 Max. Shafts ended up being the same. Got better dispersion, distance, and speed from the Ping and the Ping was at the end of my session after like 150 shots so I was a bit tired. Funny how different people are
As someone who spent a heap of Money on the 430 max this the comparison I was looking for … lots of hype monkeys saying that the 10k is the most revolutionary amazing club ever - but against the older 430 max … it’s obviously no biggie :-)
When you loft the club down 10.5-9 it opens the face more compared it being a 9 degree driver. He mentions it in the beginning of the video of how he likes the face open.
Yeah so I think most of it is the fact you have to manipulate the face angle to get the loft, it's not like the true loft of the head. So it just never plays fully like it
What is the head weight comparison between the g430 and the darkspeed as you say the ping head feels heavy. I can't find the head weight online for the Cobra. Ping say the g430 is 206g
Great video I'm a massive ping fan and went for an upgrade to the 430 max or ls but after numerous shaft fittings i just couldn't get decent numbers from either head. The fitter then had me try the darkspeed x and the ls and instantly the numbers shot up. I was shocked just how good the cobra head performed so i now have the ls version in the bag. Even demoed the max heads from taylormade and callaway and the cobra just pipped them on distance and dispersion too
That's the beauty of fitting and I'm glad to hear you got the best results possible 🙌🙌 as I've said a few times certain heads will just work better for certain people, which is why testing a lot of different heads and being open minded is absolutely the way forward 🙌
It's all about how you deliver the club (path, angle of attack, delivered loft) not about how fast you swing it. So I could fit 5 different people all swinging at 100mph with completely different drivers. So yeah impossible to say unfortunately. Manufacturers do love marketing things to different swing speeds but that's not the reality of how the products work.
I just got delivery of my Ping G430 Max. The Ping fitter did not recommend the 10K, even though it is $200 more (less money for Ping), so I knew he was looking out for me. I hit both well, but prefer the deeper face of the G430 Max.
You could certainly be into something with the weight for sure. I need to see if Ping will send me some additional head weights. As you say if I properly dialled it in I'm sure I would. It's definitely a great driver no question
Great video, how come ping didn’t send you the full suite of heads and weights, but of a shame really. I find some places don’t even have the extra taylormade head weights to help with the fitting.
No one ever does, you only get a small demo pack at slightly reduced cost, everthing else you want above that you have to purchase. Which we have done, but we are still waiting on a few heads to come in that Ping don't have stock of currently. And yeah TM won't give me weights either, they are not the best company to deal with, but ultimately it just means I sell less of their drivers as I can't diall them in as well as I can with others 🤷
Currently gaming a g400 max 9 degree. I'm very interested to see if there's something else that might outperform it. Had a basic fitting at AG with the new stuff and nothing did so i didn't switch. I predict that the srixon zx5 mk11 LS will be a bomber for you.
Great video . I play a max and finding it spins too much and goes too high . It’s 10.5 but I play down at 9 to help . Maybe a daft question but why does a 10.5 down to 9 play very different to a standard 9 ? Cheers
Not really sure 😂 it just does. Probably due to the way it manipulates the face I would say. It does open the face quite a lot on ping drivers and obviously if the face is more open at impact that just adds the loft straight back again.
The supposed benefit of the Max 10k is that high MOI and therefore maximum forgiveness on mishits. What are your feelings on the Max 10k vs the LST on mishits? I'm not the guy who hits the center of the face all the time, so maximum forgiveness on off center hits is a big factor for me. I saw a definite improvement when I got the G430 LST from my SIM2 driver, even if I go back and forth (taking my improved swing into the equation). Would the 10k be worth a trade from the LST for a guy who doesn't always find the center of the face with the driver (I lean toward high toe on mishits)?
Essentially it creates a bigger miss and more curvature on the ball when you do get it wrong. Spin creates stability. Lower spin will pretty much always be longer but it will be more erratic
Enjoying the commentary/analysis but wish you’d pick a different hole for these testing shots in future videos. Hard to get a quick impression of how much these shots are varying when 1) you have such a tiny fairway landing area, and 2) your tee box view has you grazing a huge tree that’s impeding the line of sight to the entire hole.
I compared two drivers as handicap 20. 10 K is more accurate but little more otherwise, the sound is better max than 10k. So, I choosed Max. The main issue for the accuracy of swing is MY BODY.
The 10k was the first Ping driver I ever hit. It’s likely the shaft I got with it but I can’t hit the Damn thing straight to save my life. It’s the opposite of forgiving for me. Got fit into a tsr2 and hit it 100 times better
Because I work about 80 hours a week 😂 we are open 6 days a week here and I fit from 9 - 7 and then everything else around that, club building, orders, socials, filmint, editing etc. so it's about 3 full time jobs 😂
so how accurate is the data this device is seeing? like come on. how can it tell the balls rpm in all directions? obviously there is some room for error but how accurate?
Quadrospocpic cameras doing 10,000 fps measuring the balls dimple pattern as it leaves the club. It's very accurate when it comes to ball flight, curvature, direction, height, etc. Only thing that I believe is it slightly over eggs on the distance front Vs outside playing in proper conditions. But I have used it for years and can always tell which shot I have hit (shape wise and miss wise) and I've never not trusted what it has shown me on the screen
Please leave the data up on the screen long enough for us to look at it. I have to stop the video every time and that’s quite annoying. Great review though. Good luck with your RUclips channel. Cheers from Canada. 🇨🇦💝🙏👍
Nice test, but if tester if pro .... someone with clubspeed > 110 mph, the result will not be so much useful/apropriate for "common guy". I'm afraid :-)
All depends on what you're talking about. If strictly distance then yes of course more speed will go further, but every other aspect is linked more to the delivery of the club rather than club speed, so a lot of factors the speed is irrelevant
I do not think this driver is going to best the longest lowest spinning driver - try hitting these drivers 1 or 2 degrees up and around the face to see whats what
I was actually very surprised at how low spin both the LST and the Max were. If anything id be looking to add spin to those and lose a bit of distance to create a more balanced ball flight. For me it's certainly not all about lower spin and more distance 👍
@@epgolfstudios yeah, I understand but I just think 10k is designed for poor strikers to manage launch and spin, especially for people struggling to hit up. Your swing is too good!
I think I could probably diall one in for me if I really wanted too, but they aren't my favourite heads in all honesty. But that's the best thing about being agnostic, there's something for everyone 🙌
This might be the worst driver review video I’ve ever watched. Was this your first time swinging a golf club? It would have been nice to see a decent golfer swings these clubs.
Ping 10k smokes the darkspeed, rookie numbers. How are you going to end a ping video with a cobra. No longer watching this bias reviewer. I’m glad this the only and last video I clicked on from you, good luck.
he also changes shafts and heads at the same time during fittings, unable to attribute improvements to a specific piece of equipment. A pot luck approach to fitting.
Dark speed smokes the 10k. How can you start a cobra video with Ping Pong though? Glad I watched this video because now I will only watch your channel.
Dude. Ping may not have treated you right for whatever reason in the past but, what you’re doing here…. it ain’t science. Your bias is showing. You’ve hit the Darkspeed in the past and you’re comfortable with it. We get it. We all have those clubs that just seem right ( a combo of clubhead, shaft and our imperfect swing inconsistency, down to how we slept last night and what we had for breakfast). When we want to talk about empirical truth there’s a reason robots matter. And there’s a reason that the individual’s singular reaction to a particular head and shaft combo relate to performance ( yeah, fittings matter, multiple day fittings are the best-we don’t swing the same every day day in the world of handicap golf). In my very un-humble opinion, you’re passing off the subjective as the objective too much here.
Absolutely can't argue with that. As I said in the video, all this is, is me hitting them, showing you guys how they perform against each other and giving my opinion. That will obviously differ to a lot of other peoples opinions and that's great, that's what it's all about. But as you say golf isn't a science at all and it's super dependent on us and how we are swinging. But unfortunately I can't afford a robot 😂 as I said I know they are fantastic drivers. I just didn't feel like any of them are for me particularly. Nothing wrong with that. As I'm sure you'll see in many more of my fittings videos I'm sure they will stand out as the best for a lot of people, as they already have in some of my fits.
I gamed the ping 425 and was consistent with it then had a fitting and I just couldn’t get used to the 10k and ended up with Callaway AI smoke max as better consistency 🏌🏼♂️👍🏼
Glad to see someone compare the 10k against the Ping LST model instead of other competing brands! great video!

And yeah TM won't give me weights either, they are not the best company to deal with, but ultimately it just means I sell less of their drivers as I can't diall them in as well as I can with others 🤷
love the dog :)
Thanks Dominick 👍
Currently gaming a g400 max 9 degree. I'm very interested to see if there's something else that might outperform it. Had a basic fitting at AG with the new stuff and nothing did so i didn't switch. I predict that the srixon zx5 mk11 LS will be a bomber for you.
Keep your G400 Max. From what i've read, Ping already achieved the so called "10k" mark with that model.
I’ve read MOI was 9,900 on the G400 Max so only an extra 1% needed to break the 10k barrier.
What are your thoughts on the dark speed max and X?
Great video . I play a max and finding it spins too much and goes too high . It’s 10.5 but I play down at 9 to help . Maybe a daft question but why does a 10.5 down to 9 play very different to a standard 9 ? Cheers
Not really sure 😂 it just does. Probably due to the way it manipulates the face I would say. It does open the face quite a lot on ping drivers and obviously if the face is more open at impact that just adds the loft straight back again.
@@epgolfstudioswhat shaft are you playing?
In general play my gamer is normally the Ventus Black 5 X. No sure what u was using in this test though, it was filmed quite a while ago 😂
@@hairyh9913 the tour chrome stiff 65g
Why did you choose the hole you did?
It's tricky and narrow.
Could have chosen a wider Par 5 and make the flight cleaner and the roll on the fairway.
Not sure
What length is your driver?
I feel the 10.5 vs 9 vibe has made comparison difficult
You've got a gorgeous Vizsla! Subscribed and following :)
Thanks Kev appreciate it :) 👍
I would have agreed you might have been having an off day until you smoked 2 drives down the middle with the Cobra (and longer than any of the Pings).
I had a fitting recently, ended in the g430 max the 10k was too low spin for me
Where are you based for fittings
Currently based in Newbury, Berkshire 👍
All these drivers are so similar these tests usually become more of a test of your swing at the moment, then really the driver
Love the max. Wish Ping made them neutral instead of a slight draw bias. My miss is also left.
Agreed. The GT2 is definetley less left biased and thats been my gamer for the last few rounds and I've really enjoyed it.
The fitter set mine to flat 0 degree (flipped 180 degrees on the shaft) and that took out the draw bias for me.
You can also adjust the back weight.
I think i see cobra in mt future testing 😊
Been struggling with a hook for years and am unfortunately realizing that my Ping driver probably isn't helping. 😢
It might not be. Worth a look at least 🤷
Love your dog. What's his/her name?
Thanks Tony! Her name is technically Peach but I've never called her that 😂 normally just Pea or Pea Wee
Why is low spin a problem, if the distance is ok?
Essentially it creates a bigger miss and more curvature on the ball when you do get it wrong. Spin creates stability. Lower spin will pretty much always be longer but it will be more erratic
@@epgolfstudios Thank you!
There is the flat setting also
Yup, which I do really like whereas most don’t. But you can’t go upright which is a disadvantage for a lot of people
Your business should go up 20% with ping congratulations
Enjoying the commentary/analysis but wish you’d pick a different hole for these testing shots in future videos. Hard to get a quick impression of how much these shots are varying when 1) you have such a tiny fairway landing area, and 2) your tee box view has you grazing a huge tree that’s impeding the line of sight to the entire hole.
Interesting. I found the G430 Max 10K to be lower spinning than the Max.
I’m struggling to square the face up
I compared two drivers as handicap 20. 10 K is more accurate but little more otherwise, the sound is better max than 10k. So, I choosed Max. The main issue for the accuracy of swing is MY BODY.
The 10k was the first Ping driver I ever hit. It’s likely the shaft I got with it but I can’t hit the Damn thing straight to save my life. It’s the opposite of forgiving for me. Got fit into a tsr2 and hit it 100 times better
why have you not been playing or swinging?
Because I work about 80 hours a week 😂 we are open 6 days a week here and I fit from 9 - 7 and then everything else around that, club building, orders, socials, filmint, editing etc. so it's about 3 full time jobs 😂
Great example of how a lofted down driver doesn't replicate the performance of a head with an initial lower static loft.
so how accurate is the data this device is seeing? like come on. how can it tell the balls rpm in all directions? obviously there is some room for error but how accurate?
Quadrospocpic cameras doing 10,000 fps measuring the balls dimple pattern as it leaves the club. It's very accurate when it comes to ball flight, curvature, direction, height, etc. Only thing that I believe is it slightly over eggs on the distance front Vs outside playing in proper conditions. But I have used it for years and can always tell which shot I have hit (shape wise and miss wise) and I've never not trusted what it has shown me on the screen
I understand. I’m not a ping guy either
PING, please make a 9° SFT
Absolutely agree!! 👍👍
Interesting… 😝
Dude, you'd need to hit 3 wood on that hole
I do not think this driver is going to best the longest lowest spinning driver - try hitting these drivers 1 or 2 degrees up and around the face to see whats what
I was actually very surprised at how low spin both the LST and the Max were. If anything id be looking to add spin to those and lose a bit of distance to create a more balanced ball flight. For me it's certainly not all about lower spin and more distance 👍
@@epgolfstudios yeah, I understand but I just think 10k is designed for poor strikers to manage launch and spin, especially for people struggling to hit up. Your swing is too good!
If u can’t hit driver,fit them into a ping 😜
Had the 10k for a few weeks and returned it. Nothing special with that driver vs anything else
this review could have been a lot better if you had just used a driving range instead of that dog leg left hole.
Usually like your reviews. Your swing was way off on these. Not a great review 😢
Old school 430 max? Haha
I don’t think the ping of any kind is for you
I think I could probably diall one in for me if I really wanted too, but they aren't my favourite heads in all honesty. But that's the best thing about being agnostic, there's something for everyone 🙌
This might be the worst driver review video I’ve ever watched. Was this your first time swinging a golf club? It would have been nice to see a decent golfer swings these clubs.
Thanks for the comment. We appreciate you supporting the channel
Pls don’t hit your dog accidentally
Ping 10k smokes the darkspeed, rookie numbers. How are you going to end a ping video with a cobra. No longer watching this bias reviewer. I’m glad this the only and last video I clicked on from you, good luck.
😂 thanks for watching 🤙
he also changes shafts and heads at the same time during fittings, unable to attribute improvements to a specific piece of equipment. A pot luck approach to fitting.
@@hadesignite it's the only way to fit
Dark speed smokes the 10k. How can you start a cobra video with Ping Pong though? Glad I watched this video because now I will only watch your channel.
😂😂
Not sure I want to watch this. might cost me £550
Or probably won't, but if it does make sure to order through us 👀😂😂
That's what it's all about, just playing what works for you. And it will be different for all of us
