As an HVAC Tech I actually agree with this, anytime I see a dirty or physically demanding job I don't want to do I recommend a plumber. All I want to do is sit spaciously in front of furnaces and for air conditioners I setup my magnet umbrella so the sun can't tan my soft and delicate skin while my digital probes do all the brain stuff.

#14- There is nothing called an HVAC crack in everyday language. When I was in HS, I was debating all 3 of the trades, as an HVAC guy, we do work in all three between wiring equipment and controls, running refrigerant lines and drains and an occasional humidifier line and the science behind moving air around and putting that pesky heat and humidity in the appropriate location. Plus it didn't hurt that my mom told me that she didn't want me playing with turds no matter what it paid.

As a plumber here in Southeast Texas and after this heat we had. I would shit in the yard behind a tree before I let my A/C not blow cold.... That is why I am best friends with my A/C bud... When he calls I drop what I am doing to care of his plumbing needs because he keeps my house cold when I need it....

Do you enjoy having heat and A/C in your house. Being able to refrigerate and freeze your food. Or would you like to Spend hot summers out on the covered porch (like old days) and have your pipes freeze in the winter. Would you rather have to depend on Ice from a icehouse for keeping food cold, or using a cellar.
HVAC-R is a game changer and just as important as plumbing.

This is input that makes sense and is true to a large degree, I remember roger making a statement about how a lot of places you can’t do just plumbing to make a living. That’s why a lot of plumbing companies do hvac as well, and a lot of hvac companies are electricians, etc. sometimes it’s the cards were dealt why we take on work, but one thing that’s true it up here in Michigan, it’s not as easy as opening your blinds or starting a fire. People need heat, some people need cooling, it’s how it is.

Counter argument: “Without good insulation and air conditioning, water and drain lines can freeze” Granted, there are such things as VAVs or Radiant and Baseboard heating, which are typically installed by plumbers, HVAC is almost just as important to maintain a sanitary environment as plumbers. I admire the skills of a good HVAC service tech who can quickly diagnose problems, or a good sheetmetal guy who can identify problems with a poorly engineered design.
