Lucifer being a dpressed, duck obsessed little guy is just incredible! It's also a fantastic way to show how depression has ruined his life. He's distant, forgetful, and scared to even think about heaven. Heaven broke him when they threw him into hell and basically made him the ruler of a kingdom he didn't want.
it's especially heart wrenching because you can tell he does genuinely care, but he tries so hard to act cool and collected that it translates as lack of effort and interest to his loved ones; such a well designed character!
@@NevaehEvol also i love the nod to the song devil went down to Georgia when lucifer pulled out a literal golden fiddle lol
@@valekstormhowl4999 OMS I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THAT SONG
@@NevaehEvolLucifer was confirmed as being canonically autistic by the way neveah
@@BlueOrbee that checks out, tbh- me, too, buddy
Depressed by his own failures, he kept his daughter at a distance. When she reaches out to him years later, he at first tries to buy her affection only to learn that all she ever wanted from him was to know who he was, which was what he was most terrified to show her. Simply beautiful writing.
"More Than Anything" legit made me cry. That's how you know you've made a great musical when one of the songs can legit draw a tear out of you.
one? bro this whole series is packing w songs thatve been making me openly weep 😭
@@NevaehEvol could easily be the new Daddy/Daughter song for weddings
I always cry when I listen to that song, and the part that gets me every single time is "Now you're the only thing worth fighting for" part
Alistor doesnt like more powerful beings invading what he sees as his teritory
mm, good point! he sees Luci as a threat, and we all know how Al acts when threatened
@@NevaehEvolWe actually see this already in the Overlord meeting where Alastor get a bit ruffled when he's told that his reason of absence is not that interesting. He clearly likes being the most important thing in the room, always, the cool untouchable enigma. Obviously, Literally King of Hell, who is more powerful than him and pretty much more important by default is a challenge to all that, by literally existing. So he's really invested in kicking him where it hurts to show dominance anyway.
Well, that's my read on him, at least.
@Evol Viv mentioned Alastor also has a shorter temper with men because of his relationship with his dad when he was alive, we only ever see him be close with women
The "bellhop" and "Hazbin Hotel" comments probably set him off and it didn't get any better from there lol
Narcissistic personalities tend to get very hurt when their image isn't respected
@@NevaehEvol He may have actually got mad at Lucifer because he thought he wasn't a good father, he seemed angry as soon as he hugged Charlie
You can tell his expression softens when Charlie and Lucifer have their open singing moment
He could've been trying to act as a father figure to make Lucifer fight for Charlie again
@Games Though he has narcissistic tendencies, like Adam, he's far more of a psychopath, which can share traits with narcissism, like having a grandiose self-image. For instance, here's the psychopathy checklist.
Item 1: Glibness/superficial charm
Item 2: Grandiose sense of self-worth
Item 3: Need for stimulation/proneness to boredom
Item 4: Pathological lying
Item 5: Cunning/manipulative
Item 6: Lack of remorse or guilt
Item 7: Shallow affect
Item 8: Callous/lack of empathy
Item 9: Parasitic lifestyle
Item 10: Poor behavioral controls
Item 11: Promiscuous sexual behavior
Item 12: Early behavior problems
Item 13: Lack of realistic long-term goals
Item 14: Impulsivity
Item 15: Irresponsibility
Item 16: Failure to accept responsibility for own actions
Item 17: Many short-term marital relationships
Item 18: Juvenile delinquency
Item 19: Revocation of conditional release
Item 20: Criminal versatility
It's evaluated on a 40 point scale, with each item being weighted 0-2 based on its applicability (0=doesn't apply, 1=partial/don't know, 2=applies), with 25 being the cutoff for psychopathy in research, 25 for in the UK, and 30 in the United States. My score for him is 31.
Georgia Dow does a really good job of analyzing Alastor.
A narcissist would fear, and suck-up to, higher authority, a psychopath would almost completely disregard it.
7:03 Emo Charlie is STILL probably the sweetest and most optimistic being in hell.
no doubt, tbh!
My theory for the ducks is that he was fixated on the moment Charlie first laid eyes on one of his creations, the part where she sneaked in while he was working, and so he held on to that memory of her smile despite being estranged for a long time. There's also that line he sings, "I've missed that smile."
waaaaahhh, you're so right that's so bittersweet
I heard a great theory that he collects ducks because as reference to the ugly duckling, he always saw himself as the ugly duck in heaven, of the black sheep, or just bluntly different than all others as he didn’t fit in. Thus in charlies childhood you could see that his machination he made was that of a swan, something beautiful and loved that he aspires to be.
I'm wondering if the line from Lucifer "I've tried this all before" or something to that effect alluded to him trying to convince the angels to let Charlie into heaven since she's technically not committed a sin to be in hell to begin with. Since he's only seen the worst of humanity and the souls in hell, he never wanted her to face the consequences of his actions. Thus the imagery of the little duckling turning into the six winged swan, and why he initially looked so somber when she walked in. Maybe that's the reason why Lilith decided to split, since she embraced hell and wanted Charlie to as well.
My favorite aspect of Lucifer's design is the circus vibe. Because he's the "Ringmaster" of Hell.
I believe it's actually been confirmed that Alastor just couldn't handle being around Lucifer because he knows Lucy could whoop his ass if he wanted.
Which is also the reason he's trying to desperately establish some form of ,,dominance" over him by usurping his position as Charlies' dad.
ALSO one of the reasons he ,,blows off steam" by murderising all those loan sharks. (That and being called out by Husker)
Just thought it was important to understand the reasons for what Alastor was feeling in this episode.
That and Viv mentioned that Alastor has a shorter temper with men, because of his issues with his dad when he was alive. We only ever see him hug or get close with women
What set him off was likely Lucifer making the "guess that's why they call it the HAZBIN hotel huh?" comment
It probably doesn't hurt that he's also trying to position himself as the one Charlie turns to when she needs help.
@GlytchGames it does make me hope that the theory winners don't remember their human life is wrong so we can see a possible interaction between alastor and his mother who's in heaven especially if she did find out what her son did after her death
6:06 "What looks like a silly little guy."
Me: Uh Nevaeh, thats actually Charlie when she went into her emo phase.
sobbing, I know that now 😭
@@NevaehEvol also, in regards to Lucifer and Lilith, I think the creator said that their relationship is similar to Mortrica and Gomez Addams. I won't spoil anything, but personally, I hope this is the case. I think that they are both really in love with each other. I know people have other thoughts about their relationship, but that's just my own opinion

@@blackheartthedarklord6428 I love that the fandom has interpreted their married life as a Roger and Jessica Rabbit situation. Lol
Love Vivze's interview with them asking on the choice of cast and she said "well if you want your plumping fixed get a plumper so if you are making a animated musical get voice actors and singers" not word for word but its basically what she said
that's such a good way for her to put it, hahaha
I see Alastor being threatened by Lucifers presence in the hotel fearing he could replace him, just look at the different ways he’s showing power for different people, for Husk, he just threatens his life cause he knows he can get away with it but he knows he doesn’t hold a candle to Lucifers power so he shows off his connection to Charlie instead
a good point! using his different advantages against different "opponents" so to speak
Love the symbolism at 38:36 Lucifer’s face just says “ok here we go again” but the next scene, when the spears are aimed at Charlie, that’s fear. He’s fine with himself being the target because, as he knows that he's the most hated being in all of creation, he’s used to it.
Casting Jeremy Jordan as Lucifee was absolutely perfect. By the way, as usual, you never dissapiint nevah much love as always
Jeremy has some amazing vocals and I feel like he really brings Lucifer to life! and thank you, you're too kind!
@NevaehEvol looking forward to when you go love again my friend
1. The portrait of the "silly little guy" is actually Charlie in her emo phase
2. Al cursing that hard is a pretty big deal, as he tries to appear above it all to be viewed with an air of superiority. To that end, part of his schtick is only letting out occasional low-intensity swears. Said it before, will say it again, who better to strike at one's ego than the Sin of Pride himself
3. Big recently said Charlie's roughly 6'6", so that helps a bit with height reference. Lulu is still a Short King, a decision made, I kid you not, with the intention of " most of the other Sins are huge. Making their highest in rank be the tiniest of them all would be hilarious"
4. Satan is indeed a separate character in this universe, the Sin of Wrath to be precise. He, Belphegor, and Leviathan are the only ones we've still yet to see
5. Not a fact, just speculation, but I think Lulu busting out the accordion might be a reference to when in the days when the pilot was all we had to work with, possibly before it even aired, Viv had mentioned that she hoped for every character to be able to play at least one instrument, and whoever wound up playing Lucifer would determine what he would play. The minute anyone heard this, a collective brain cell activated in the majority of the fandom and crew, that screamed through a Griffin' bullhorn "Weird Al should play him!". Jeremy Jordan definitely was great casting, though sometimes it's still fun to think " what if"
I hadn't realized how much I wanted a Weird Al demon until just now. He would make an amazing demon for this series, especially if he got to have a song.
Something I haven't seen anyone mention is the fact that Luci plays a golden violin/fiddle, which is a reference to the song The Devil Went Down to Georgia
@@patchwilliamson someone commented it earlier
@@daydreamdragon22 I would openly weep in laughter if JackmotherfuckingSepticEye VAed for Lilith
I love Lucifer so much. He’s so precious and 100% my favorite character (Angel Dust is a very close second)
I knew he would be when I found out Jeremy Jordan voices him
he is a spectacular character! Jeremy is extremely talented
I feel like this episode shows that Lucifer and Charlie share a problem in that they are both *bursting* with creative energy to the point it directly interferes with long-term planning or logic.
Charlie has actually no plan for her hotel, she has a concept and decorations.
Meanwhile, Lucifer practically spasms from idea to idea, and can barely hold a coherent conversation.
Fun Fact: The picture with Charlie’s family hugging one another is the only photo (as of right now) that shows Lucifer and Lilith with their wedding rings on, every other portrait doesn’t show them wearing them. It’s hard to see in the episode but in the released artwork of said picture you can see it more clearly. You can also see Lilith’s smile start to fade with each picture showing Charlie getting older.
The "Black Eyes" for having sold your soul was just a fan theory that when examined quickly fell apart
I am so glad they made Lucifer such a caring dad. Sure he's kind of a doofus who isn't exactly good at this, but he is legit trying and does truly love Charlie. Also Hearing Alastor use profanity is GOLD. That’s how you know he’s really upset because nobody really gets to him.
I don't know if you were told this by anyone else, but the scene of Lucifer playing a Golden fiddle is actually a reference to the song The Devil went down to Georgia.
I'm a bit of a music nerd so I find this extremely interesting
It blows my mind that so many people didn't catch the reference. I spose its not super relevant anymore haha
So an interesting theory I heard recently about Alistor being uncharacteristically invested in this weird dadding contest. Alistor is constantly flexing on everyone he meets, showing how he is above them or so much more powerful than them. Now he meets Lucy, who Alistor absolutely cannot flex on via power or influence. So he switches it up to the one thing he knows he can beat out Lucy on: being there for Charlie. This is just Alistor at his default, but having to take a different approach.
Alastor: you could almost call me dad
Angel Dust pouting in the corner: oh so she can call you daddy but when I try to I get threaten
Before the show came out I was under the impression that Lucifer would be a goofy character with a more sinister side, but I kind of like this more. They also managed to work in his hatred for humanity in a way that still fits this version of him. He's more like a disappointed parental figure that has just completely lost hope in people. Also, it's nice getting to see a more sinister side to Alastor. I feel like he'll go from a villainous ally to an outright villain later, but for now he's still our fun chaotic evil friend. It's also interesting that Husk seems to know something about Alastor's situation, although to what extent I'm still not sure. I hope we get to learn more about that soon!
Anyways, great episode, but I'm REALLY looing forward to your reaction to the next one. So excited to see one of my favourite characters and your reaction to them ^^ As well as one of my favourite moments in the series.
I agree! this portrayal of Lucifer is a really fun and interesting interpretation! I wanna know the secrets that Husk knows, too 👁
and thank you!! I'm glad you had fun! I can't wait to see more ♡♡
@@NevaehEvol Btw I decided to join the discord! I prolly won't say too much at first, but I figured if I keep procrastinating I'd never end up joining lol. Hope u have a lovely ritual filled day uwu
To be fair, I do think Lucifer has a sinister side in the series. He shows the decapitated head of Alastor in a song just for fun and bc Alastor pissed him off. He bragged about being right to Charlie while her whole building was falling apart. He didn't move a finger to help. He was smiling while everything around him was on fire and body parts were being thrown around lol. He says he charges for his services. Services to who? Who knows what kind of deals he has made? He was going to kill Adam with no problems before Charlie stopped him. I think they're similar, but Lucifer does not have the same moral code as Charlie. He's an ancient being, who knows what he has done before Charlie was born, or when she doesn't see. I definetely think he earned his reputation as the devil tbh. The imagery in Hell's greatest dad, with his insane smiles and and evil faces made me think there's definitely more to him that meets the eye. I'm excited to see how the show will develop bc in my personal opinion, I don't think the story Charlie tells in ep 1 is the whole truth. I think we don't actually know what happened in Eden. Who knows? Maybe Lucifer actually did bad things that got him casted out
Viv has a tell. Whenever a character shows any sign of empathy they wind up on the good side. Eventually. We see this with Asmodeus and Fizzie. We see it with Angeldust. We see it with Carmilla and Zestial. And we see very small hints of it with Alastor. He is probably under contract with Lilith to be here at the Hotel to protect Charlie. But we see small hints of connection.
We see Overlords like the Vees that show no sign of empathy. Mamon is another demon over in the Helluva Boss setting that shows no empathy. And he is the definitive heavy of the season.
So based on this Alastor is probably savable. But its going to take a lot longer than the others. And he is probably going to be a threat right till the end. I foresee him trying to break the contract through the second season. It will probably break at the end of the season with Alstor becoming one of the heavies for the third season. As Alastor is being bound to being good we can assume that Lilith if she holds his contract is good herself. So she will probably join Charlie (eventually) and help her come to terms with her power and what good she can do with it. With Alastor being a foil until Charlie has a grasp of it all and is able to confront him and force him to really self examine.
Lucifer using an accordion is a reference to who Vivziepop wanted as Lucifer originally, Weird Al Yankovic. And funny that Mimzy's voiced by Sara Stiles, AKA Spinel from Steven Universe, when I've always thought Spinel and Alastor would get along.
how fun!
The 'Silly Little Guy©️' in the you pointed out in Luci's room is actually Charlie when she was going through her emo phase.
Also, this episode has, by far, some of the vest one liners, in context and out (:
BRUH I feel so blind that I couldn't distinguish that specific portrait LMAO
I love that in "More than anything" you see the angel weapons heading towards Lucifer and he doesn't care, but he sees them heading towards Charlie and his eyes widen, then he immediately pulls her and stands between her and them.
You could also see it as although he is protecting her, he's pulling her into the dark, which depending on your view of heaven/light in this context could be a good thing or a bad thing. Or more likely both. She's kept secret and safe, but can't truly see the world around her I think would be a good interpretation.
38:31 Yeah thats just some clump of magic. What is important is what it represents. It's Lucifer throwing his dreams on the ground, Charlie kneeling down trying to pick them back up and then he takes her hand to prevent her from doing so.
There's a theory that Alastor sold his soul to Lilith or Eve which might explain why he was so powerful when he appeared in hell and was able to effortlessly kill off powerful overlords. The only one who's aware of this is Husk due to him being very observant with knowing people after spending time with them long enough
Another funny little detail about this episode is when Lucifer is telling Charlie about the ruined everything.
As in one of the many myths about how hell was created, souls that were deemed unworthy to enter heaven, were straight up erased and deleted from existence.
Lucifer or Samael, as his name was as an angel, went against God even though he didn't have any freewill, he argued that there should be some place for souls that were rejected from paradise.
His reward for his objections to the way those souls were treated was exile.
And so he created hell as a safe haven for those souls.
And it feels like in hazbin hotel, Lucifer feels like despite the fact that he did everything for the sinners, all they did was take his gift for granted.
I mean he literally got exiled from heaven just so he could create some place for The souls of sinners to go so they wouldn't be eradicated and those very same souls ruined everything and refused to change.
Ever so slightly disappointed they didn't give the loan sharks black blood to keep canon with Helluva
Something interesting to note about Lucifer: If he's anything like the other sins we've seen, he can change shape and size at will. That means he's short entirely by choice. Charlie might be taking after her father in not making a big show of her power and status
Helluva is TRASH. It wasn’t meant to be anything more. It is nothing but filler…
@@aubicgrande9221whatever you say dude 🙄
So, one: Somehow, father and daughter both got it into their heads that the other didn't want to see them. Luci didn't want to burden Charlie with all his baggage and so stayed away. Then all Charlie saw was a dad who pushed her aside and didn't care.
Two: He's depressed and probably coping with that by the duck fixation. It's so obvious that Lucifer loves his family and never stopped. I mean, he's still wearing his wedding band, and after how long? (7 years at least) Not to mention his reaction to hearing that his daughter actually wanted to see him again.
"how old is she supposed to be?" Charlie's somewhere between 200 and 10000 years old
ah, a healthy range
I love alastor he just wants to fuck with Lucifer by calling Charlie his “daughter” when I think we should know he doesn’t mean it
This episode made me realize that I have daddy issues XD
twins 🎉
So like, a detail, Lucifer calls Charlie every few months, Charlie hasn't called him in YEARS
Charlie is also like very wrong Al was only helping her to remind people not to mess with him not for her and the Hotel, he pushed Mims away for using him, he is an evil schemer
Never expected the devil himself to be one of my favourite characters, but when I first saw ep 5 I just enjoyed his story and personality so much.
I ADORE his personality and how unexpected it was! I was anticipating a deviously evil or holier than thou kind of Lucifer, but this interpretation is just so fun and unique
“Oh the little rainbow hoops in the back.” Actually that is a model of the seven rings of all. Similar to what a globe would be for them.
The accordian is a nod to Weird Al Yankovich who was the first pick for voice actor of Lucifer.
The fact that Hell's Greatest Dad was inspired by Friend Like Me just warms my heart
@@nataliebateman1151 same! it's so unique but still brings to mind "some of column A, try all of column B"
no black eye isnt cannon its a fan theory that the episodes allready debunked husk had black eyes in his flash back before he sold his soul
good point!
I personally believe the issue Alastor have with Lucifer is that he was the “big fish” of the hotel. He was the most powerful (besides Charlie) and everyone knew it. He was the one Charlie turned to for advice, he was the one that use his powers to help out. Now that Lucifer is here, it is no longer just about him and he isn’t a fan.
I could totally see that!
I was about to take a drink when you said Intellimagent. That's one of those "Yep that's going into my dictionary" moments. Like "Investigot"
just barely missed the spit take
Hope you get better soon.❤
Lucifer is by far one of favourites, so hope he becomes your favourite too.
ah, thank you! im doin my best out here 😷
he is really really fun!!
15:52 to be fair if im not mistaken despite being over 200 years old Vaggie is the first woman Charlie has been with and they have been together for 3 years and Charlie and Lucifer havent been close for at least 7 years(that being when Lilith disappeared though her and Lucifer possibly split up before that) so it would be kind of surprising if he did know
Remembering the mention of LuLu World in the Looloo Land episode of heluva boss, I now headcanon that it was make by Lucifer as a personal playground for Charlie that only opened to the public at Charlies personal request.
oh I can totally see that
We likely won't know why Lilith left until season 2, but I hope for Luci's sake that she wasn't one of those "I expect him to read my mind with no prompting from myself" sort of women..
I know what that's like first hand...
It's funny you mention teen Charlie thinking he's cringe. Check out the scene when we first see Lucifer's room he's in. There's a portrait of Charlie with dark hair and frowning 😆 i think it's teen emo-phase Charlie
IS THAT WHAT IT IS? I couldn't tell on first watch through, but when I was staring at it while editing I felt like I was gaslighting myself fjskdnxks
5:14 I didn't watch with subtitles, so I'm pleased to learned that Niffty's laughter is subbed with "[giggles like a gremlin]".
it's perfect!!
Between the short king in this episode and the tall queen next episode, my poor little bi heart can't take it.
WORD, BRO
Also, Luci’s so circus themed bc he’s literally the Ringmaster of the Circles of Hell 🥁
29:49 so…remember from the first couple of episodes about how Charlie hasn’t spoken to Lillith in seven years?
Guess who was *also* “missing” for seven years before oh so conveniently showing up at the hotel?
yeah, dude! I didn't mention it anywhere yet, but I'm headcanoning that Al signed a deal w Lilith herself 👁
just want to say, Satan rules over the ring of wrath (as the sin of wrath) which is where millie's family lives in helluva boss. So he might interestingly enough be a farmer or businessman who looks after the imps.
personally I think it would be neat if he is actually Cain, son of adam.
I'm honestly waiting to see Satan represented like a Kentucky Colonel.
making him Cain would be a really interesting interpretation of him!
Both songs were amazing. But I find myself hitting Hell's Greatest Dad more often on replay.
First of all, when you said you were feeling hyper, you were not lying and I love it. It added so much energy to the reaction.
Secondly, as someone with mild hearing loss and hearing aids, I fully appreciated the qtip rant.
Thirdly, I think part of Alastor’s beef with Lucifer was over having the most influence over Charlie. It might also have to do with the deal Alastor made and why he’s been gone for seven years. That part though gets into spoiler territory and theory crafting.
What makes it even better is how Charlie's Manic Laughter sounds like a sheep/goat, which makes a lot of sense for it to do so.
People are saying Luci has ADHD possibly which might be why he isn’t paying attention much like when Charlie said she’s talked to him before about the hotel and he forgot,Maybe he was being serious about being “Busy” cause he was focusing on something else so when he talks to Charlie on the balcony he was thinking about something else and that’s why he was confused
Honestly just having beef with the king of hell is awesome enough it probs is legitimately the reason
it's really funny
@@NevaehEvol Hah Ha Haa
20:55 Since this has been making rounds:
Lucifer- You’ve chosen violin
Also a Devil went Down to Georgia reference
I wanted to call it a fiddle but the subtitles called it a violin and ik there's a difference between the instruments of like appearance 😭
@@NevaehEvol They’re in fact the same instrument, it just depends on the style of music they are used to play that defines them as violin or fiddle
You know, with what we've cone to learn about Alastor, it's hard to pin if he came at Lucifer because he had a pre-concived notion about him, or if he just thought Luci would just get in the way of what ever plans he's in the process of hatching.
Yes, in this universe Satan is the Sin of Wrath, he rules over the ring of hell Millie comes from.
I love the show connection there! ik them being owned by different LLCs makes it hard to have cameos/crossovers, but I sure hope we get one some day
Wrath and pride
@@seanmurphy9913 Pride is Lucifer's domain, the only ring inhabited by Sinners and the most commonly seen ring across both series.
@@gamerbear84 but you said wrath too
@@seanmurphy9913 That would be Satan's. These are not the same character.
I think the reason Alastor "attacked" Lucifer was because he is a HUGE risk for his plan.
No mater what he is planning its important for him to stay close to the hotel.
As we saw him so far he is the one that makes things happen.
You need power, or objects? He can give it to you for a price.
But here is Lucifer that not only is basicaly all powerfull but also free for Charlie.
Luci is Alastor but stronger and with no drawbacks.
If he is there Alastor is not only not in controll anymore but more or less useless.
Also he knew that as long as he helpes Charlie and supports her dream Luci cant really do anything against him.
If he want to be save from Lucifers power, conroll and wrath he NEEDS to be close to Charlie.
That's exactly what it is. Alastor is not accustomed to being in the same room with somebody so significantly more powerful than he is. All the hype about the big bad Radio Demon just doesn't impress Lucifer. Even Alastor's "remind everyone why I'm here" moment came off as hin trying to prove he isn't irrelevant.
Alastor tries to _act_ above it all, but is not so different from Vox.
My personal headcanon for the alastor song and him being all “you can call me dad” bit is actually a little odd. Later in the episode he tells Mimzie she needs to leave if she isnt going to take the hotel seriously. I PERSONALLY believe that Alastor did this to force Charlie and her dad closer together. By pushing his stakes of being so proud of Charlie he made Lucifer feel insecure and forced him to voice his support of Charlie. As you said in the reaction alastor always has an angle and I think for whatever reason he needs the hotel to succeed. By getting Lucifer to support Charlie he bolstered the hotel’s rep and got closer to his goal. Once Lucifer was all in support of Charlie, he totally dropped the whole thing and went back to his normal self.
interesting headcanon! I'm personally of the mind that Al sold his soul to Lilith, so helping Charlie succeed/looking out for her best interest could be one of her contact requirements imposed upon him 👁
@@NevaehEvolit absolutely could be! However during “more than anything” he has a very self satisfied smile on his face, as if his plan has come to fruition. I could be totally off the mark here but getting Charlie and Lucifer to make up, while seen as “selfless” does further his goals and seems very in line with his personality, playing the “long game” so to speak.
Its honestly concerning how easily so many fans fall for Alastors manipulations and believe any nice thing said about him, dont get me wrong I love him but he is a lying piece of shit and you shouldnt trust 99% of the shit he says. After this episode came out so many people think 3 things 1 Alastor sees Charlie as a daughter 2 he is secretly a softie and 3 he is doing this for Charlie. I dont doubt that he does care for Charlie to some extent but I also dont doubt that he would slit her throat in a heartbeat if he thought it would make him more powerful.
EXACTLY. he is the kind of character to look out for #1 always and I DONT TRUST HIM. He functions on ulterior motives. Don't get me wrong, I *want* to trust him because it'd be so sweet for him to have that character arc, but he just serves "manipulate everyone to achieve my ultimate goal of superiority" and I cannot put any faith in him to do or be better than that
What’s more concerning, is how many people can’t read between the lines and view it as black and white. -_-
Alastor just wants to stand above everyone, and if he can't do it with power then with something else.
very true; he's always gotta be #1
I can't imagine being the one to give humanity free will and then have to spend 10,000 years watching them use it to abuse, torture, and kill each other over and over
Before the hotel, I wonder if Lucifer had EVER seen a sinner actually attempt to become a better person...
In the opening backstory it’s told to us that Lucifer can only see the bad things that humanity does. So it makes sense that he looks down on humanity as he might not be able to tell that humans do good as well
Love your reaction and I know Lucifer voice singing at the end was powerful in the heart
I recall hearing once a long time ago that Vizie gave a description ofAlastor's personality, saying that he hates children, but he's also got something of a soft spot for them, refusing to harm a child and protecting them from any immediate harm until he can get them out of his hair as fast as possible.
If there's any truth to that, then Alastor fits well within the reluctant dad stereotype where he would never want children himself, but if circumstances forced a child into his care he'd protect them with his life and set himself up to grow very fond of them over time.
So if Al genuinely starts to see Charlie as an adopted daughter, the only people who'd be even more protective of her would be Lucifer, Lilith, and Vaggie.
More Than Anything is actually my favorite song from the show. Admittedly they are almost all pretty close but it's just such a beautiful song and the animated sequence accompanying it is full of gorgeous imagery.
Mimzy "fine who needs ya"😡
Me "You you need him. You literally come running to him asking for his help like 2hrs ago (about 10 minutes in the episode). You're the one that keeps running back asking for HIS help " 🙈😂😂
this is so true, lordyyy
16:09 to answer your question, Charlie is around 400 years old but biologically she is in her 20s. I believe and Lucifer hasn't been in her life for most of it or at least they haven't been close since she was a child. Might be because of the separation or his depression shutting people out after Lilith left and took Charlie we don't know for sure unless Vivzie said in a stream.
Wonder if anyone has mentioned that Charlie went through a goth phase in her teenage years because that was literally a photo that was put up on the wall and the family portrait with Lucifer's room. Meaning he literally dealt with the fact of when Charlie called him cringe as a bisexual thing of Charlie was seems to be still implied in the show because in the plot you see her in a prom dress with another guy. which was a son of Prince or possibly the Lord the Leviathan in the ring of envy, which was another photo with him and his father guy in the same photo acting like friends. But for the last bit there I wouldn't take too much in the context because I don't quite remember it correctly
I love all the little expressions the characters make as initial reactions. The details in this show are on point!
Also, if you ever need to clean your ears, they have these cool pick sets that are designed to do that safely, and they work really well^_^
I agree! those smaller expressions do a lot to build the scene
I haven't used one of those kits, but I need to! I didn't know qtips weren't healthy until I had been using them for like 10 years
I utterly adore the way Charlie says, "He's an asshole."
so true!! her tonality is everything
May the best dad win
I'm leaning Lucifer! Alastor always feels like he has an ulterior motive
Ive always thought that hes either convincing himself or had convinced himself that theres no hope for sinners, so hes projecting those feelings outward and seeking validation that he gave up on his dreams. Sad lil man needed that hug.
love the video!!!! of course we get best silly guy lucifer who is depressed (like a lot of us here is so relatable omg, also hai its Yan Yan)
I'm glad to hear!! Luci is a very silly fella, and we love him ♡♡♡ (hi, Yan Yan!!)
Can I just say I love how you call Anthony by his real name, rather than his stage name Angel Dust
It takes a bit of extra thought to do since I've known him as his stage name for years, but I feel like it's more respectful to address him as himself, so I'm working on it! I do slip sometimes, though
We're 80% sure Nifty is harmless.
YOU are 80% sure she's harmless
I'M 80% sure she's gonna fuckin kill somebody and it won't be her first time either
More Than Anything is my fav song of the show. It’s so beautiful!!!!
I Personally like to think alastor was being a little bit truthful about Charlie (I may have daddy issues)
*pats* It's a nice thought, buddy (I also may or may not have daddy issues)
Hell has 10000 year of pentagram city.
Charlie's Canon age is 200 years.
#Theory
Charlie wasn't first children of Lilith and Lucifer but they all born death.
@ LadySygerrik
Some stories of Lilith have her cursed with the inability to have children, with all of hers being either born dead or dying shortly after being born. It could be Charlie isn't their first child, just the first one to survive.
@Valentino simp
If we learned anything from Helluva Boss, it's that Viv love morbid backstories soooo
"You build something nice, you invite people in and offer them everything, and they just bring violence and chaos to your doorstep. It doesn't matter how well intentioned you are. They're always gonna disappoint you."
Who else is willing to bet he's talking about Hell? He built up Hell into something nice, allowed Sinners to live there, and then they ruined it.
I think that's a reasonable guess!
Something I noticed and MAY be reading into-
Normally, Alastor smiles wide and toothily. But after More than Anything, he's smiling with his mouth closed, and he didn't interrupt - which struck me as, perhaps, him being HAPPY with everything
you have a point.. but i still don't trust it. I could see him being happy with the outcome if his goal was to manipulate Lucifer into helping, but *why would he do that?* what's his motivation? his joy from the hotel comes from watching people fail, so perhaps he wanted to see everything crumble after the inevitable refusal from the angelic council? I dunno man!! I want Al to have good intentions, but my gut tells me he's devious
You misunderstand-
I think he DOES care about Charlie, and WAS jealous - he has a SERIOUS insecurity issue lmao - but that meant he was happy when he saw how happy SHE was.
There are certain events that I dunno if you've seen and thus won't comment on that leads me to believe that he's come to hold SOME KIND of affection for the Hazbins by the end, but I can't discuss those without spoilers lol.
HOWEVER - yeah, he's also a ruthless old demon that is probably fixated on his ulterior motives.
Doesn't mean htese are contradictory though- these characters are such a mess of idiosynchrosies that way that my faveorite maybe Ace baby can have a little hypocrysy lol.
(please forgive the rambling I'm coming off a twelve hour shift lol)@@NevaehEvol
i love your reaction and i'm so glady i found your channel a few days ago, hope you keep the reactions up
awh, thank you so much! that's really touching to hear 💚🪞💫 I'll do my best to keep em comin!
Alastors need to be the center of attention seems to have been triggered severely by the actual Ringleader showing up at his- I mean Charlies project.
for real!!!
Alastor needs to be the center of attention, the best in the room. Al cant hold a candle to Lucifer in terms of power, so he does what he can to get under his skin because hes an egocentric, narcissistic ass.
So A few things.
1. Re: Lucifer. He most certainly a depressed king, and I think that the trigger was heaven. He was banished, forced to endure the worst outcomes of his gift of free will and rule a kingdom he never wanted, and then his wife left him 7 years ago. Charlie never calls. He thinks he needs a reason to call Charlie (needing her to do something). He said "This is the first time SHE'S called YOU in YEARS." He was very much attempting to avoid talking about heaven on the balcony, and only did so once charlie specified what she wanted his answer on.
2. He last called her during the show in episode 1, which was five months ago.
3. Alastor is definitely a psychopath. He even lights up on the PCL-R (Psychopathy Checklist). He has criminal versatility, shallow affect, manipulative tendencies, proneness to boredom, glibness/superficial charm, etc. As a psychopath, he shares some traits with narcissism, like having a grandiose sense of self-worth. He feels attacked because he's got literally the king in hell standing in the room with him, and that derails his control of the situation, so he wants to re-establish control, so what he did is called Social Engineering. In social engineering, a manipulator will attack along the lines of your emotional vulnerabilities. He attacks Lucifer's height. He picks up on Lucifer wanting to reconnect with Charlie, and attacks that (even though he himself has only been around for five months). He very quickly takes control and gives it back in certain situations, like with Vaggy and the commercial (The foot in the door manipulation, while I'm on it). The truest form of him that he's shown by this episode is when he is talking to Husk. He doesn't need to be polite to Husk. He can do whatever he wants, because he owns husk and niffty.
I think that was a fiddle, not a violin, and that part was likely a reference to "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" by the Charlie Daniels Band. It's a great song, by the way!
fiddle is just another word for violin, they are the exact same instrument
You're the first person I've seen who actually noticed that
19:20 Yeah he doesn't care who Charlie sees as a father figure, he cares that Lucifer dislikes the thought of that being himself as. It's literally just Alastor trying his best to annoy Lucifer.
Charlie going through an emo phase is something I didnt see coming
Now we all just need to collectively bully Webster's into adding "Intellimagent" to the dictionary. With enough douchebaggery, even miracles are possible!
I think if some bullshit that I say ever becomes an addition to Websters then I must've really made it in life
No gonna lie. I cried the first time hearing More Than Anything 😂 It's like my favorite song from the show!❤
I can understand why! it's truly a beautiful song
Lucifer isn't too short, everyone in the hotel is just really freaking tall. Charlie is almost 6'7", which by comparison makes Luci maybe 5'10 or something.
Lucifer is 5'2" because that has been confirmed by show staff.
He looks closer than that in the show proper, I'll give you that.
God the music in this show slaps!
for REAL
"To be cringe is to be free, you're watching a cartoon react to a cartoon, and I'm the one making the content." Welp, time to like and subscribe.
I saw the notification that you uploaded and I was like 'AAAAHHHHH!!! THEY POSTED MORE HAZBIN!!!' Gawd your insight is impeccable as always and I love the deep emotional reflection of the harder hitting moments and it's fricking beautiful 🩵 And you have so many more amazing viewpoints that it would be impossible to put them in a comment without making it a novel so kudos to you homie! Also your "Imma lil fruitcake! ❤️" comment about fehkin Luci SENT me 😆😆 I can't wait for the next hazbin vid fam, always a joy to watch your vids! 👍👍👍🩵🩵🩵
awh, you're too sweet, oms!! thank you so much for your kind words
i recall hearing/reading a theory saying that with Huskers ability to read people, that the scene when Husk called out Al for being on a leash was meant to be that Mimzy had a metaphorical leash on Al due to using him to clean up her messes. At that point Husk only had an inkling that Al had actually made a deal with someone/something else but had used the wordplay in order to get clarification. As far as that theory goes i have not seen anything come out with definitive yes or no's from the creator though
24:00 that black eye thing ain't true it's just a theory, A FILM THEORY!
I had to lol
respect; any opportunity to reference MatPat cannot go untaken
Hazbin’s Lucifer isn’t a _bad_ dad, but he also isn’t a _good_ dad. He is, however, trying his very best.
