SteveO, I always enjoy your videos. I know some aspiring pilots who are addicted to your videos. Keep up all the good work. You are an inspiration and a great role model for all those young pilots to be. Thanks so much!!!
Yes, Mount Pilot was mentioned a lot on The Andy Griffith Show. Always wondered. Thanks for that. I finally found out forty years later ! It was a great and funny show. Ron Howard, the movie producer was a big part of it. Thanks for your excellent vlogs. Haha three Kilo, Quebec ! Very nice plane by the way.
Another excellent video, Steveo. My wife and I flew into Fulton CO with our friends not too long ago. Hill's FBO was amazing and I definitely want to get back there someday.
I first soloed in a 152 that was "Kilo Quebec"...always twisted my tongue. Glad to know it's not just me as it got you and that initial departure controller as well. :) Nice video as always. Makes me miss my north Georgia flying!
All Kodiaks from the factory have a N# that is XXXKQ. The three digits being the serial number off the line. This aircraft would of been the 193rd Kodiak built. I would guess late 2017. If a customer supplies a requested N #, the aircraft will leave the factory with that number.
Don’t beat yourself up over the call sign steveo lol. I’m a uh60 pilot and our callsigns always change with the aircraft! Plus try monitoring 4 different frequencies while flying into Kabul international...they’re English is spotty at best. Clear skies Steveo. Love the videos
9:13 How do people get into aviation? Like all pilots, my story is loooooong, so I will just give you the earliest inspiration. My father was a private pilot, owned his own C-172 and I was literally flying as soon as I could reach the controls. He loved flying, our family always went to airshows and I loved everything that flew. My earliest favorites at the air shows of my time were the British Vulcan, the F-14 Tomcat and the F-16. My passion for aviation later took me to fly that last one, it was a long road. By 10 years old, I was reading my father's private pilot handbooks and knew more about aerodynamics than my 5th-grade science teacher. On the road to my civilian part 141 flight school by age 19, USAF JSUPT 5 years after that, USAF wings 1 year after that. For me, I was literally born into it. My parents didn't have a lot of money (a C-172 was pretty affordable in those days) and my dad didn't work in aviation or the military so I didn't have any connections to pull me into a fighter pilot slot or a good civilian pilot job, my love of flying made those happen the old-fashioned way of working my ass off. Worked every aviation job imaginable in the early days, fueled planes, plowed the ramp, towed aircraft around the lot, de-iced them, froze my fingers off for minimum wage just to make ends meet between students during the early years. That's the shortest version I can give you - if I were to boil it down to one sentence, it would be "Focus on flying single-mindedly and never, ever ever give up" - I was still deicing Skyhawks in sub-zero weather for minimum wage when I found out I was selected for my pilot slot in the military - it is always darkest before the dawn.
KGSO is one of my favorite airports. The controllers are fantastic (they gave me a clearance for an ILS from 35 miles out in a skyhawk cause there was no traffic at 10 o'clock at night!).
Departure from my home airport, KGSO. Also, the home of the HondaJet factory. Pilot Mountain in Surry County is about 10 miles due south of Mt. Airy, Andy Griffith's home town, which is what "Mayberry" was based on in the show.
General Rendar working on the multi add-on now, then CFI/CFII. I have a contract ferry job lined up, and will get a jet type rating through CAE’s right seat program. I’m turning 50 in January, so not switching careers, but setting myself up for some nice aviation-related retirement flying options.
@@TroyWhistman yeah, I picked this career with the thought of "If I didn't have to work, what would I do?" Even in the difficult times I've had a blast learning to fly and I think I'll continue to enjoy it for many years to come.
Being from the UK I don't know every city in the USA. So like a geek I google any I don't know so I can see your route on a map! Never heard of Greensboro so had a good google. I have of course heard of Atlanta.
Paul Scotchford , Paul, most of them are used by missionaries, it was specific purpose built, very utilitarian plus uses jet kerosene more available than a gas
@@flybyairplane3528 Thanks for the info, that aircraft would work well in Australia given our land mass and so many remote locations and rough strips etc.
So Steveo, the question everyone is wondering about. You fell in love with the Carbon Cub. When are you going to buy one for yourself and go have some back woods off airport fun?
cool i used to fly a red and white cardinal, 1968, 150hp, out of GSO, Signature is real nice, cookies avail, it was called air service when I flew out of there, I learned to fly out of Air Harbor,W88 about 10 minutes from GSO, cool little airport, a P-51 owned by an Eastern pilot used to commute up to his his Washington DC base, early 60's when gas was more reasonable.
While I'm not that familiar with the Kodiak, it sure appears to be a super nice airplane!! Btw, thanks for the great flight and the beautiful scenery! Regards, Ernie
I don't know how to fly a plane, but I do know that when a plane is starting up you gotta watch the NG for hung starts and the ITT for hot starts
Only on jet or turbo prop aircraft,,,
😂😂
You have to watch the NG rise up.
😆🤣
That Planes a young work horse with many years of service ahead . 🤘😆🤘
SteveO, I always enjoy your videos. I know some aspiring pilots who are addicted to your videos. Keep up all the good work. You are an inspiration and a great role model for all those young pilots to be. Thanks so much!!!
Another awesome scenic flight. Easy money.
That sun though!!!! 🌞 😎
Never get tired of hearing the engine's start up. GREAT flight.
Wrecked the thumbs up. The Kodiak is outstanding. and so it the pilotage.
Nice views and cool people.....that’s a Kodiak moment!

That was awesome!! I worked at Hill Aircraft many moons ago! Enjoyed it very much. Love the Kodiak SteveO.
The camera angles really set this one apart, thanks Steveo....good job! Btw, those flaps are huge.
Was a pilot years ago and so it’s great when you describe the functions on the Garmin equipment we never had years ago!
This flight reminds me of the flight you did to Puerto Rico where someone greets you and then someone welcome you.
yea Kilo Quebec is a mouthful.
Good job Stevo....Great pick of music at the end.....like the brass as I was a Horn player......😎👍
Really like the plane and the good video. Thumbs up, Steveo!!
Another excellent video, Steveo. My wife and I flew into Fulton CO with our friends not too long ago. Hill's FBO was amazing and I definitely want to get back there someday.
"It's usually a nice straight circular line" Geometry 101 with Stevo!! Great video Steveo!!
Absolutly perfect landing IMHO
I work right under the approach for Fulton County airport. Always love the videos. Keep them coming.

I just loved the wingtip camera... Awesome views of both the takeoff and landing... Great job as always!

It's easier if you say it the way the chart shows: "Keelo Kay-bek."

Another great video from Stevo. Kind regards from Spain. All the best mate. William

Loved the wing mounted camera. Perfect 10 for that landing.
Great video as always Steveo! Ordered the Pilot Blueprint Book for a Grand daughter. Thanks for all you do! Jim.

I fly out of KGSO. Grew up in Hickory, near the Barrettt's Mt. VORTAC. Cool vid for those reasons alone!
Great pilot and amazing aircraft
I did the initial powerplant installation design. Nice to see it flying.
Wicked. I tell my dad about you all the time. Keep up the good work!
Always enjoy your videos! 3KQ is easier to say if it’s pronounced 3 Kilo Kay-bec. Keep the videos coming.
I love these aircraft.. make me think of starting amazing adventures in remote locations 😎
Always love seeing the Kodiak in action. Great video as ever Steveo
Man gotta love that Kodiak! Good to see ya back buddy!
Another quality video as usual man :)....that call sign would drive me nuts, good job!
You really do make it all look so easy stevo
Wat up S1K!! Kodiak videos are always cool!
Was just in Greensboro. What a nice quaint little city.
Departure from my home airport, KGSO. Also, the home of the HondaJet factory. Pilot Mountain in Surry County is about 10 miles due south of Mt. Airy, Andy Griffith's home town, which is what "Mayberry" was based on in the show.
Great video SteveO! My brother used to work at Hill.😎👍🏼
Nice flight; Sure is nice to have several types of aircraft to fly depending on the mission!
They missed ya on the airways steveo like we’ve missed you on your vlogs. That tail number was a tongue twister.

The airplane of my dreams!
you are the only pilot I watch who celebrates ATIS letters :)
Great Video. Thank you for Sharing .
My home town! Good old Greensboro
Another good one, thanks Steve
Steveo...that little town by Pilot Mountain is the real "mayberry". Mt. Airy NC the inspiration for the Andy Griffith show.
Lovely smile of welcome.
That TCAS was flippin' sweet!
I smashed like because "I saw it." ;-) Passed my Commercial rating last Friday, would love this gig you have! #Kodiak
Awesome news Troy! Congrats! 👍🏼
Congratulations
Troy are you going to go for your instructor after that rating or do you have another job lined up?

I am local to Atlanta and every time I see a TBM I do a double take to see if its Steveo!
NIce, as usual.
