00:10 Tools for the job.
00:24 How to install the quick release bracket. Andy demonstrates how to install the MKA-32 bracket, followed by guidance on properly positioning the trolling motor on your boat. This includes avoiding contact with the trailer during launching and landing, preventing the trolling motor from hitting the boat when deployed, ensuring the trolling motor head doesn't hit objects like docks in the stowed position, and avoiding interference with the bow light.
10:22 Marking final trolling motor position. Using masking tape, we mark the trolling motor's final determined position and attach it to the boat with the provided fasteners. We share several helpful tips, such as using an anti-seize compound when fastening stainless steel components, to guarantee a smooth installation.
14:28 How to mount the trolling motor to the boat.
14:45 How to install the prop on the trolling motor. This process revolves around ensuring the drive pin on the drive shaft fits into the prop.
16:07 Cord identification and management. Proper cord management is essential, so we explain the function of each cord, including the foot pedal plug, trolling motor sonar transducer cord, and i-Pilot link cord, which connects to a compatible Humminbird fish finder for i-Pilot link functionality.
19:55 Heading sensor installation. Finally, he covers mounting the heading sensor by using a compass to find a suitable location with minimal magnetic resistance. In longer boats with a greater distance between the heading sensor and trolling motor head, we discuss powering the heading sensor with a temporary power supply and ensuring proper communication between the heading sensor and trolling motor. We wrap up with instructions on pairing the heading sensor and trolling motor for seamless operation.
This in-depth guide will provide you with all the necessary information to easily install your Minn Kota Ulterra trolling motor, ensuring an enjoyable and hassle-free boating experience. Without question, this is the BEST how-to video in the boating industry. Well done!
We appreciate it! Andy does a great job sharing his hard-earned knowledge in his installation videos.
Excellent video I'm having my dealer install on my boat, but this is very helpful.
Great, great video! Thanks! I didn't want to cut any rubber washers because I thought I might need them. Since the motor came with 6 rubber washers, I just used a rubber washer under each side of the 3 split washers to slide them out of the way as I slid the motor onto the quick release bracket. It worked pretty well.
Great installation video, feeling much more confident in installing my new Ultera this weekend.
Great video, thanks for making this for us!
Very Professional instructor sharing valuable information.
Awesome job with this installation video! I feel a lot more confident in effort to install my Ulterra! Thank you!
What we love to hear. Thanks for watching the video.
So well done. I’ll give it a try.
Awesome! Good luck and thanks for the note.
Your install videos are so clean, thanks. Would love to see an install video on MKA-57 quick release bracket and a Quest Ulterra. Thanks
Awesome video!!
Thanks for the visit
Two years later this motor is going strong ruclips.net/user/postUgkxBZWgzfpS2Jj7JqIHyaSZjyVHNUgCKCBf Just uploaded a video of it after 2 years. We use it probably a dozen days each year on our small raft.-original review- We got this motor the other day and tested it out. I don't have anything to compare it to, but it seems good to me. It has all the features advertised - the motor housing is metal. We will see how it performs longer term and I will revise this review if needed. Some initial observations:- Good thrust, moves our boat around really well- It comes with a circuit breaker but no switch - so there's no way to kill the motor other than yanking the connection off the battery. I installed an inline switch.- The mount bracket is plastic and I worry it might break- There are a number of plastic parts that I worry about, but the most important ones are metal or some kind of composite
Good stuff Andy!

That’s a nice, clean installation my friend!
Thanks 👍
Love to have one but to expensive for me. I have the power drive on my boat and it is great but still don’t know all the ends and outs of it yet. Wish I could get one of these at a deal sometime somewhere.
Great videos even though I had dealership complete the installs. At 8:04 you picked up the trolling motor with ease. I don’t know you, and my initial thought was must be a football player.
That's an excellent observation! He played D1 for the MN Gophers 🏈
Row the boat, probably a little after his time. Reference to current head coach.
Does the extension from the trolling motor connect to 5 port switch if you have one? Thanks.
Will I be able to hook the trolling motor to garmin or will I have to buy hummingbird
Depends on if you get dual chirp or down imaging.

Please make a video without the quick release mount
Bolt it to the boat if u can cuz the quick release is simple for Theives. Go into a store for a second and your motor is gone.
Hurry get rid of it before your stuck on the water like thousands of other fishermen and women.
The worst model ever, just look at all the reviews of people asking for help on how to fix or repair it. Love Minn-Kota
But they really screwed everyone on this model!
