  • In my previous video, I shared with you how to care and propagate one of the easiest indoor plants ever, Pothos. In this video we continue our houseplant care guide by showing you how to repot them to a larger pot. We’ll also talk about why you need to repot your Pothos, when’s the best time to repot and how can you tell your plant needs to be repotted. I’ll then show you two ways you can repot your plant to either have them trail down beautifully on a bookshelf or climb up on a moss pole as a floor plant. Enjoy and don’t forget to give this video a thumbs up.

    I noticed my golden stopped growing after months of continuous growth. He went from growing about a foot a month even through the winter to declining. I pulled him out of the pot and he was wrapped around the terra cotta pot I had him in. I repotted him and he is doing much better and even putting out new growth 🥰

    Suzanne here, i collect water jars and unusual ones, all shapes, clear glass of course i have many many pothos, but over a span of 40 plus years of growing this plant, i find they do much better simply growing in plain water, i have some in soil, but they simply do not do as well as the ones do in water. and YEs they can last a life time in plain water, and grow much better, than in soil, i have many hanging in soil, but i take cuttings often and am always making more and more, i love watching the roots grow, there is one rule with this kinda growing them, change the water 2 times a week and keep it clean, remove any dead items, and enjoy water growing

    Whenever repotting I start strong, then start to think to myself "what have I gotten myself into" after it's all out on the table. It's always the most stressful part.
    My worst time was with my string of pearls.. it was only in a 2 inch container, and the roots weren't the reason for repotting but the pearls on top were all on top of each other with no sign of growth (like they had been propegated a tonne, but I was a noob at the time). I just started taking them out and they came out in one piece, but after the soil fell off I noticed it was a million separate 'strings' with hardly any roots. I did move them to a bigger container so all the 'strings' were in soil (most stressful and difficult repotting ever) and they almost died from shock but they have started vining again after their recovery and it warms my heart. I don't think I'll ever repot it again 😅

      What’s a mosspole?

    • @agile828mn
      @agile828mn 2 года назад

      Excessively large pots invite root rot. Always pot up one size pot only. Planting multiple plants into the same pot can cause die-off, as one plant can choke the other. Moss poles require off-center planting which also invites root rot. This creates large areas of soil which roots do not occupy, and therefor will not dry the soil.

      @@tayr3836 This will certainly work more often than not, but is typically a technique you wouldnt give out as advice to beginning growers. There is a high enough chance of failure that it isnt wise to tout as a "life hack" for stylizing a pothos. When a nursery uses similar techniques, they can account for their failure rate by planting high volume. If a person has one plant, this technique may leave the person unhappy with your advice and having to buy a new plant.

    Thank you for this video. I have a monstera that already has a moss pole but she needs repotting. Do you have a video about repotting a plant that already has a moss pole? Should I avoid repotting it?

    Great video. Found you by accident. Don't cut that long bare leg, circle it in the pot and the nodes will make roots making the plant strong, but you know that. 👏 Thank you for the video.

    Hi, this randomly came up in a search for me. I just purchased a golden pothos & was interested to know when you say “8 inch pot” for example, do you mean the height of the pot ( bottom to top ) or the diameter? ( width ) Thank you, this was a really informative demonstration. 🙏🏽

    Very informative great video! My question is I recieved a pothos plant from my awesome neighbor and she originally gave it to me in water. A year has passed and I’ve kept it in water and the plant seems to be doing well. It’s very bright and green but grows pretty slowly although it’s root system is getting pretty crazy and very big but I’m wondering would it be very bad to transport it to soil or will that be too jarring to it’s system to suddenly be put in soil. I don’t want to kill the plant because I care for it and want to do my best to keep it alive. Any advice would be gladly appreciated thanks :)

    I’m a new subscriber and enjoying your videos 😊 I’m wondering about your references to🪴repotting in Spring (warmer weather).I live in So Cal and mostly sunny all year…house temp stays pretty constant as well. Does it matter when I do repotting with this situation? Thank you!

    uh we need dat video of how to maintain the size of your plant ASAP!!! you said that real smooth at the end like we weren't gonna be like, yes please tell us how to dat!!! I am having second thoughts about buying more real plants because they need to stay the same size due to my space in my place. They also double as decor so changing size I won't have anywhere to put them and I will have replace them in the space they've grown out of. We need this video! if you have it already could you link it here please? I've searched your channel and couldn't find one.

They are so beautiful, but the little cheeky guys are making marks on my wall. Can I snip off those aerial roots, or will that hurt them? Tips for long pothos vines decorating our walls? Took mine out of Terra Cotta and put in a plastic pot. My cat chewed of trailers. I now have 3 more plants after propagating them in water. There is a person who has one in the same pot for 8 years. It is trailing around his house. It for me has always been the easiest to grow. The 8 inch pot is where mine will live out it's Life. It was a small plant when I got it 2 years ago. I water it with rain water only. Trails across and down.
