I used to skate a lot when I was young but now in my mid 30's i'm wanting to get back into skating but just want to enjoy the ride with the odd ollie or kickflip thrown in there, I feel this is the best choice for me.
I think that this might be the board that I am looking for after injuring my ankle and spending a night in A and E. I was born in the 80s and I just cannot get used to the new skinny boards. I love the colours. I can only find the board in black and red in the UK.
Looks like that's the only color way of that graphic we make right now. We also make a similar 80's style cruiser that has nearly the same dimensions with a rounder shape: nhsfunfactory.com/products/9-7in-x-31-7in-iridescent-hand-shaped-cruzer-santa-cruz-cruiser-skateboard?variant=40118056550557
@@NHSSkateDirect I'm trying to choose between the 80s cruizer and the 9,7 inch version. Any advice? The 9,7 inch comes with smaller and harder wheels but would it do great also with 60mm slimeballs for rougher streets? Best board...?
My daughter wants to start skating. being just 5 i'll have to be with her and am seriously thinking about getting this board for me. a nice thing to do together
@@NHSSkateDirect Quick question bro, I'm putting together an 80's style (best era) cruiser board on the NHS Fun Factory website. I'm going to run 60mm ricta clouds. Im thinking of going with the OJ 3/8" orange risers. What do you think my bro?
Hey now mr Whaley, appreciate all the brilliant content. Have a question about board shape. Does santa cruz make any 775 to 8 sized decks with steep concave? Double noses?
We don't currently make any decks with extra steep concave. There is a SC shape that is symmetrical that Maurio McCoy and Fabiana Delfino use sometimes. It is 8.25 x 31.83 and has the same length nose and tails. Checkout McCoy Afterglow, Transcend, or Flamingo decks or Delfino Ego or Fortune teller and make sure it's that 8.25 x 31.83 (NOT 31.8). Hope that helps! Ron
It comes with 1/4 risers. 1/4in = 6.35mm so it's like riding 53/54mm wheels without risers. I had no issues with wheelbites. Always good to be a little careful at first with new trucks/cushions but they broke in super quick.
Hi, i really like this board, do you think the size is too big for me? Im 165cm. If it is, do you have any recommendations for me, i love cruising around and want the board as fast as possible 😀
Ill tell you now. I just got a Santa Cruz Salba Tiger deck. I just got it for cruising and exercise. I got 215 Indy trucks, clear tape, Bones Swiss six bearings. And Powell Peralata Byron Essert wheels. Now I got the wheels for a fast cruise, and to go over pebbles with ease. They are 72mm, 75 a. They are fast as shit. Really, the board scares me, Lol. But the wheels are longboard wheels. So, my board looks like a 4x4. Its so high. Im 6ft 3. And have to be careful whe Ii kick. I have half inch risers on it. I ordered 1/8 risers to see if that helps some. If not, I will have to get some smaller wheels. Lol
I wouldn't go much bigger than what it comes with: 60mm. Maybe 61/62... but wheel biting with soft cruzer wheels can be harsh. They grab more than harder wheels.
@@sosogood7375 since then, I've purchased the jumbo mark gonzoles board. Same berings and trucks. With 66mm slime balls. That board is almost a foot wide. Its literally a yacht.
Hey man! TGM skateboards has what you're looking for, they have an old school Santa Cruz flaming hand complete for only $129 , but they only have one left! They dont charge tax or for shipping.🔥☮
I need the best overall wheel for cruising but also learning tricks. I just feel that the 78a is so good for cruising but might make learning some harder. What’s the best happy medium?
I'd go with the 92a Ricta Chrome Core Clouds or OJ 95a Nomads. The Clouds will be the hardest cruiser wheel and the Nomads the softest street wheel. nhsfunfactory.com/products/54mm-chrome-clouds-black-92a-ricta-skateboard-wheels?variant=40118104391837
I'll work on more trick tips. Making a 'how to slappy' one right now. I will say this on 180s. There's 2 ways you can do them. You can start turning the board before you pop, using the tail to start it turning and almost making it skip like a shove it and then follow the board with your feet. Or You do a straight ollie and really focus on making sure the board sticks to your feet, then you can turn it in the air. Also, you can always land with your foot on the nose and turn it all the way 180 after you land. like many skate tricks, there's many different ways to do it. I've always liked the feeling of popping a nice straight ollie and turning it almost on the way back down. Then you can 180 as high as you ollie straight. Hope that helps!
It does look uphill doesn't it. Actually going down a little hill but the camera angle playing tricks. No skate workout like pushing uphill... except maybe tick tacking.
Looks like the Dinghy is a bit smaller (28.5" x 8") and doesn't have as much of a nose. More of a compact cruiser. I've never ridden one so I can't speak on how it skates. The 80's cruiser is a little bigger, has more nose and will be better for ollies and tricks.
I have a dinghy coffin and its really fun. i wanted a compact board to carry around and that has quality materials. I would love to have this santa cruz board too but I think (not sure) the dinghy rides smoother. slightly bigger wheels higher abec.
Like why though, there is no point to having a different type of skateboard to use as a "cruiser", the only thing that matters are the wheels. Just put soft wheels on any board you want to use as your "cruiser"
I've never ridden a Tugboat so I can't say. Also, it depends on what kind of skating you want to do on it. I did see there's Tugboats with reverse kingpin trucks as well as regular truck versions. Reverse trucks turn super quick so those ones will be super turny and carve great but regular trucks will be better for higher speeds and downhill. Personally, I'd go with Santa Cruz because I know the shape and parts are great for tricks as well as cruising.
Back in the day it seemed like there was a lot more 92's and 95's. I think wheel companies are starting to bring them back. OJ and Slime Balls have a lot of those mid range hardnesses.
I just got a regular deck and I’m going to throw some cruiser wheels on it anyone every try this I just want something with a nose and tail to can curse around the town wil and not bite pebbles
There was a Creature Gwar deck that used that shape. Might be hard to find. Also, there will be some special available when the Speed Wheels Art tour happens. That's been postponed because of covid. Search for "Santa Cruz Reissue decks" and you can find similar decks. We often have them on our site but are out right now: www.nhsfunfactory.com/santa-cruz-skateboards/skateboard-decks/reissue-skateboard-decks

Gleaming the Cube flashbacks as I watch you cruise down stairs. 😁 This makes me want to go order one. I'm loving the concave...
Ahh the Cube... Slater at his finest. Super fun cruiser and the concave felt perfect.
Hi Ron, how come you don't put rails on skateboards any more? Doesn't that protect the board and help you slide better?
Is there a huge difference between the slim balls and the oj wheels (58mm/87) often used on those santa cruze cruiser completes?
This is such a great video! :)
