you dodged a key death before where you thought the danger was. If you jump to the safety coin while running left, as you did, you hit a kaizo right below it, which collects the safety coin while also sending Mario pitwards. I think there's a pity key though.
Its impossible for there to be a pity key due to how the level is constructed, and besides its oldest trolls. People just casually allow key deaths haha
