For anyone who doesn't have a plastic flower holder, I got a paper/plastic cup, turned it upside down and poked a hole through it. Then I inserted my stick with the flower on it and it worked just fine! If your stick is too long for your cup you can just cut it and it will be able to sit up on its own!
I am thrilled to pieces to find such an excellent tutorial. Am making my first wedding cake and was totally ignorant and frantic trawling through You Tube for tutorials that really were not very good. This is excellent. Really cheered me up. Can't wait top decorate the cake with the roses. Thank you so much.
Best tutorial I have seen, clear, precise and understandable. Have to make very large Roses and have been difficult but now I feel confident. Thank you x
Thank you so much for your fantastic video. I am making flowers for my daughters wedding cake; I learnt how to make them 30 years ago in evening classes but I had a brain haemorrhage a few years ago and can’t remember how to make them. You’re such a wonderful talented lady, I want thank you so much as your helping me relearn and to create my daughters wedding cake xx
Thanks for your detailed description of your techniques as you go along -- it's so helpful! I had no idea that holding onto the petals would be so tricky but your advice is great. I'll be searching for more flowers, I hope you've posted more!
Wonderful tutorial! You make it look so easy. I only hope I can make all my flowers as beautiful some day! I'd love to learn to make Sweet Peas and my FAVORITE of all flowers a White Gardenia. I subscribed and have a Thumbs UP! Thanks again.

Exactly what I was looking for I will be doing my first wedding cake in August like another of your commenters I can do roses but not to this professional quality so you've just mad my job a lot easier thank you
Just had a look through some of your other videos on your channel, what an amazing artist you are. This rose is probably my favourite, you've really captured the softness of the petal and the way rose petals curl over. I'm making my daughter's wedding cake in the autumn and am very tempted to try some of these for her cake. Can you tell me what you use as your modelling paste? Do you just use water for your glue and what do you think someone just starting would really need as a starter kit? Thanks for sharing your knowledge, it's lovely to watch.
Awh thank you. I use either renshaw modelling paste or smart flex. I use water to attach but you could use glue. I prefer water as it doesnt mess up the brushes. I don't think you would need a start kit as such. Just the things to make the roses. They are a good starter flower. I am sure between now and autumn you can master it x
Could I ask you … What modeling fondant do you use or do you make your own?? I WOULD LOVE THE RECIPE … As I could see how easily you are able to ROLL IT AND FOLD 👏🏻👏🏻👌 Thank You 🙏🏻 Sandra Dean ( Adelaide Australia 🇦🇺)
Hey Sandra, I use either smart flex or renshaw flower paste. I have also made my own using Nicholas lodges recipe, if you Google ‘Nicholas lodge flower paste recipe’ it should come up. It’s super easy to make! X
Hi - what do you do with the cocktail stick at the end or if you're using the rose to make a spray? Is it only to be used if your going to stick the rose straight into a cake?
thankyou so much !! your tutorial is really helpful, I learned so much from your tutorial ❤ please upload more sugar flowers tutorial, would really look forward to it. keep up the good work 😊
Lucky to find you ❤️ Thank you for your great detailed tutorial. Just in time fir my plan to make findant flowers for my cakes. Your new subbie from the Philippines ❤️ 😊
Hey wonderful tutorial! So i am confused regarding how many times we have to switch to a larger petal cutter. Like after every 2 rounds of adding petals or 1?
Could you please make a hydrangea to put on a cake. I love the flowers you make and I'd love to see you make one. Also any suggestions on making babys breath?
Thank you very much, i really enjoyed watching and i learned a lot from this video. I noticed when you are rolling out your gum paste it appears very smooth and soft, do you mix anything into it? if so what do you mix in and what ratio do you use. Thanks for your help, this is my first time working with Gum Paste and I am making Roses for my Son;s wedding. Also how long do these flowers last? is there a way to preserve them.
They will last ages as they dont go off. As long as they are stored correctly. Cool dry place. I usually keep them in a cake box and put the packaging peanuts in there that come with posted items. Or you can use the silicone gel pouches that come in shoe boxes. I use 'flower paste' which is basically fondant/gumpaste with Tylose powder pre mixed into it. If you cannot get flower paste you can always add some in yourself.
Thank you very much for your tutorials! I was asked to make a wedding cake at the end of June this year, when should I start making sugar flowers? Do you have any tutorials on making a peonies?
you can make them well in advance. months in advance if needed. As long as the sugar paste is in date you can start making them. I keep mine in a cake box with packaging peanuts (the little polystyrene things that look like peanuts lol) and put the lid on. It protects the flowers but also keeps them from getting dusty x
I am new to this so I've been watching videos to learn. I ordered a few things from your video but I can't figure out what that tool that you put your rose into at the end. It is white with holes in it so your stick went into it first and then you put foil around the rose to hold pedals up. What is the name of that rose holder for it to dry? I would really like to have one also. Thanjs. Great video. I've watched it several times already.
it is a petal former. www.amazon.co.uk/Celformers-Shallow-Formers-sugarflowers-Celcakes/dp/B079RHSZKP/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_201_tr_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=4BQPZ0NJD3F7JR66D76A

I would use it to stick straight into the cake if using the cocktail stick. Alternatively if you wanted to make a spray you could use a wire x
Excellent tutorial

Yes, definitely...x

Is there anything else you can use instead of the tool you used to make the edges thinner 💕
you could use a cell pin, or the end of a small rolling pin, but a ball tool works best x
