Matt don't mount the seatbelt that goes over your shoulder below your shoulders.... it can break your spine and paralyze you if you get in a wreck. Mount them above

They can go in a 15 degree angle up or down, not much more. I think that tube is too low indeed. Also, the seat is already too small for Matt (fine for Mere though), his shoulders are at the top of the seat belt holes and the top of the seat only comes to the base of his skull.
If you crash this thing in this setup without a HANS, you will break your neck (and we don't want that because what will we watch then on youtube?)

markkNL Ah, I didn't realize that the placement of the mounting bar was the issue. Will be mildly annoying to fix since you can't weld powder coated metal, and it won't be easy to cover what's been ground off.
Toastalicious He has 5 point harness with the strap between the legs, those should prevent submarining if they're tightened right. 4 point harness are the dangerous ones.
I'm so pumped for this Matt, the turbo Cobalt engine holds 400+ horse really really well. The tuning ability is definitely there. Looking forward to this!

Nice kit car! I would put some kind of shielding around that coolant hose so stuff getting kicked up by the tires wont damage the hose. Hope to see some videos of you ripping it around flat land texas!

Hey car guy, please explain how an NA engine at 155hp can become 260 with just a turbo. Sounds a little off
oxycontiin lol my man it's more than possible, there's alot of other things that go along with the engine, it's not just that they took the engine, bolted a turbo onto it and shoved it in the kit car. It's likely stroked, has a more open exhaust, probably has newer headers and a bunch of other things.
oxycontiin Turbo = Boost.
Boost + Intake/Exhaust/Tune = More HP.

You should put little metal covers under the coolant lines near the bottom because rocks and stuff might eat at it over time idk might be something cool to do
I thought the same. The car seems to ride low near the ground and might scrape often.
my thougts were more in the "it's gonna be a rusty radiator" side... over time (not much time) rust will appear in the coolant system and can be a mayor issue, also, that is a support bar, getting rust inside a support bar can't be a good thing...

I think YOU need to buy a donor. My thoughts are that they pre-installed because of his RUclips channel.
there are option on the website in case you want to put in your own engine setup but you can get it with it setup the way he had it according to the site.

I don't know if you did or not, Please do not cut the seat belts even if there is a lot of excess. That will compromise their safety.

Eggs and Rice: yes I understand this but they are longer than needed in order to fit a variety of applications. IF you cut the excess of the strap off, it will compromise the safety of the belt.
Love to see the thing on the scales to see how much it weighs once assembled.
Also that motor is a LNF, 260hp 260ft-lbs. You can make that thing have alot of torque. Check out zzperformance, pwerks racing, and even ddm works may be able to help with that. I have a pontiac solstice with the same motor, have a few things to done to it. But from what it seems, the brakes and most of the motor stuff are the same, best of luck with the build man!
Matt, I'm interested in acquiring a kit, but don't understand how you bought it with the engine pre installed. Could you please explain this in a future video? definitely would like to buy one, just domino want to do the engine and mounting on my own...
Hardware store nuts are going to be pretty poor quality. Definitely not something I'd trust to secure seat-belts or anything critical. Look online or stop by a local fastener store and find some Grade 8 nuts, if they're inch pattern fasteners, or Grade 10.9 or 12.9 if they're Metric.
John they're hardware stores, they carry literally all types of grades of hardware. that's literally the purpose of a hardware store.
ALILBLUSMURF lol grade 8 or 12.9 is what to go for.
John if you can't get grade 8 bolts at your hardware store your at the wrong store

260hp at peak with a turbo will be exciting... but 210hp at peak with a s/c will be just as fast, but a smooth hp curve..

T1GR3S13 doesn't matter if he is racing it or not it is for effects, and there is no way you can hurt the engine that bad.
Not sure if it has been mentioned. But there is a trifecta tune which is activated using the cruise control button that you can do for around $500 that you might want to look into if you want a "beast mode".

I started as just a DR fan, and have since become an OTR fan. Love your vids man. Not a terrible choice for a motor for its first build, but there's definitely room for improvement. ECU tune that thing and squeeze another 30-60 HP out of it. I would bet it could take down Porsche's, and beyond.

That is a really cool little car. We got the job of changing the radiator hoses on a little English Sports Car (a Lotus). There were 7 total. The car was totally uncomfortable and so over-rated! This is a sensible little car. I love it!

Little known fact, the DF goblin kit uses the FRONT axle/wheels of a Cobalt in the REAR. This way it uses the one assembly engine/transaxle from a stock donor just relocated to the rear. The front wheels/suspension are off the shelf parts as the stock rear Cobalt does not incorporate steering arms.
