Barn Owl Live Stream - by Kangarobin in Owlceanside, CA

Welcome to Mel and Syd's, a livestream viewing of wild Barn Owls in Owlceanside, CA.
We currently have a paired couple at the Kastle. The male is Melbourne (Mel) and his female mate is Sydney (Syd). They recently successfully raised and fledged 6 healthy Barn Owls into the area. On 4/14/24, Mel and Syd reunited in the Kastle. On 5/1/24 at 12:39pm PDT/OBT (Owl Box Time) Syd revealed that she had laid Egg #1 of Clutch #11. As of 6/13/24, none of the 5 eggs from Clutch #11 hatched. This occurs in nature for a variety of reasons, including that the eggs might not have been fertilized or they might not have developed properly. This is also possibly related to this being Mel and Syd's second clutch of the year which can affect the success of subsequent clutches. On 6/29/24, Kanga removed the 5 non-hatched/non-viable eggs from the Kastle. Syd was no longer brooding them and no longer staying inside the box during the day. Mel and Syd continue to occasionally visit the Kastle at night, with pair bonding occurring.

⚠️⚠️⚠️Interested in MODERATING???: Kanga and his current team of chat moderators are looking for volunteers who have an interest in joining our moderator team.
We're looking for moderators who are willing to do the following: Promote positivity in chat, provide information to chatters (if available and known), possess patience, document activity, have good communication skills, and have good computer tech skills.
We will provide supportive training. Newly appointed moderators will initially be in place on a trial basis. Possessing a good understanding of Barn Owls is important and being familiar with Mel and Syd's history will make your job easier. Our chat room is open 24 hours/day, so we're looking for availability day and night. We appreciate those who are willing to take on this type of commitment.
