My biggest fear is a wing snapping on a flight I’m on. You have no idea how much I needed to see how much it can bend without breaking. Thanks for making my future flights easier on me! ❤️
Even more reassuring: the force that it would take to break a wing is so strong that it's virtually impossible in a real life situation to happen. Any forces that a wing can experience during a flight, even with the heaviest turbulence, is way below the forces that wings are certified to withstand
I don't have a dog right now, and truly live vicariously through other people and their pets, and the way this guy was talking to his poor drugged up pup hit me in the feels! 😊 I love when people are kind to animal.
The airplane wing one is the video my professor talked about for the company he worked for, they engineered the testing rig for it. If only the rest of the video played of it breaking, that would be cool. It has a safety rating of 5 and the wing gets obliterated after 45 degrees of flex I believe. Essentially everything you've encountered has gone though an engineering process :)
I know there’s a lot more to it, but the simple explanation that an engineering process is basically building something and trying to break it makes me wish I had gone into engineering.
@@billpetersen298 no a airplane will have a maximum take off weight no matter how much the wing can flex the rated weight is set to a point to keep the aircraft in a safe operating range by not over throwing the center gravity of the plane. The wing that is shown is most likely the 787 dream liners wings as they can bend up wards of 7 meters before complete failure. This is because they are made of composites and have a better ability to bend before irreversible damages caused. The rating is for that bend as the Dreamliner only will ever bend upwards of 3 meters during usual operation yet is able to bend upwards of 7 so it’s able to take higher loads of torsional forces making it safer

Trapdoor spider! I've heard of those! Also, bald eagles have made a huge comeback since the 1970s, when they were endangered. They're still not as common as ordinary hawks or owls, but seeing one is no longer a once in a lifetime experience.
I'm very curious about this spider... It looks like the spitting image of a wolf spider - big eyes in the front, two smaller anterior eyes further back on the head. But it has a trapdoor burrow... Are geolycosa (burrowing wolf spiders) known to use trapdoors like that? 'Cause... That HAS to be a wolf spider.
The guy in the fourth clip was performing a front lever but he somehow managed to do with while blanching on two rings. Because of the added challenge, his form wasn’t perfect but we all have to applaud him for not falling immediately
He used his forearms to balance himself, so he couldn't fall except for backwards, but he pushed hard forwards while holding himself with his forearms on the bar, he could of not fallen
@@jakobwhaley5641 yes of course, but even though the balance aspect is reduced its still pretty hard to do so and you’ll need a week or two to get used to the balance aspect assuming you have learnt the front lever already i think
The girl with the train whistle voice, that’s wild! The guy lifting himself up with rings, that’s strength. Sometimes I feel the same way about life as that cat does. I would do the same as that shopkeeper did with the wall Banksy painted on, would at least cover the cost of constructing a new wall. I know it covered way more.
I had no idea the wings on passenger jets were flexible at all. They'd have to be, wouldn't they? It's one of those things you don't really think about until someone points it out. Thanks! 👍
I noticed that stuff when I first started flying, around 4-5 years old. When taxing to the runway, the wing keeps jumping up and down, maybe because of uneven surface.
2:04 for anyone wondering, that is called a trap door spider (for obvious reasons) They dig a burrow about 5 inches (13 cm) or so deep then cover the entrance with a little door made from tightly wound silk. They use their burrow as both a place to live and a way to catch prey. They sit and peek out the door and pounce on an unsuspecting bug who was unfortunate enough to happen by then pull them back into their burrow.
@@Horiva_II You want Vietcong spiders, look no further than the ogre-faced spider. They'll hang by web with a hand-held web net and wait for an insect to land beneath them, then spring down, wrap them in the net, and pull them up to be eaten. One of the most badass spider hunting methods.
2:04. For anyone wondering, this is a trapdoor spider. They burrow into the ground then create that little door to hide the hole. Whenever their prey comes by they open the door, snatch the pray, and drag it down into the hole really quickly. They can be pretty venomous ( especially the Australian ones as they are the most venomous spiders in Australia ) so try not to mess with them.
It is not a trapdoor spider. It is a wolf spider (Lycosidae) that builds trapdoors. I am not certain about the further taxa as I don't know where the footage was taken, but Australian species _Portacosa cinerea_ comes in mind. Also, trapdoor spiders usually aren't that dangerous, and the most venomous spiders in Australia certainly aren't trapdoors. I think you were thinking about funnel-web spiders (Atracidae), the most well known of which is the Sydney funnel-web spider ( _Atrax robustus_ ), which is considered to be one of the most venomous spiders in the world by most.
They r not venomous they are a type of Goliath eating bird spider I believe so when a lizard insect or even a bird sits or crawls or the roof they open it quickly so they can eat the prey.
I wish I had a little trapdoor on the floor with an extra room below where I could hide from people like that Unfortunately my parents would probably make me go interact with them so they can know I'm still alive and have manners lol

(Sorry about this comment I’m kind of an aviation nerd) Yes, this wing flex is extremely helpful, especially when the aircraft crosses over an area of high turbulence. The wing flex makes turbulence feel less bumpy and uncomfortable. Most smaller planes don’t have as much wing flex as the larger commercial airlines, or sometimes they don’t have wing flex at all, which is why it’s common to feel turbulence more in a smaller aircraft such as a Cessna or a MD-90 plane.
Damn i never knew they could flex that much. I've always watched the wing flex in an airplane and thinking "what if this shit breaks", as if i were in a final destination movie.
There had to at least have been one person who picked up as much money as they could and gave it back to the truck driver. And whoever that person was I respect them so much.
I think I remember that incident - police were using all the video from the incident and actually arrested some of the people who picked up the cash. Whoops.
Anyone who managed to grab a decent amount of cash disappeared faster than that bug crawling on the carpet. I slowed that sh!t down...literally *puff* and into an unknown dimension (who knows, maybe people there are the type to return money to the armored car driver...jk. Not even there) ;)
@@DOT107 they can, but they would have to: 1) hold off on spending it for a year minimum while not storung it in banks 2) not spend it all at once 3 (the most important step really) not put their faces on camera like idiots 4) try to spend it in ways that would not be swiftly documented (like open markets and such) That's the bare minimum really, and everyone in the video auto fails the most important step.
@@chum5520 It's actually the opposite. It's illegal to take money you found if you know who it belongs to. The armored truck is right there so all of those people taking that money are stealing it and could be arrested.
When an airplane takes off, due to the wing shape, the ends of the winds experience more lift compared to their wider areas which are closer to the body of the plane, bending the wing tips upward. So they make it flexible so that the plane doesn't snap during takeoff. This isn't that much of an issue with a smaller plane like cessna since the body of the plane isn't nearly as heavy.
@@paulklement4274 It's a result of materials science. Materials with a better strength-to-weight ratio are better for planes, because you want to reduce weight. However, some materials may be stronger, but are more flexible, namely carbon fiber. Using carbon fiber inherently makes the wing more flexible at the same strength. The flexibility could be reduced by adding more carbon fiber, but this defeats the point of the higher strength-to-weight ratio, because you're adding more of the material anyway. So, the answer is to just allow the wing to bend, which also means that the rest of the wing structure needs to be designed with bending in mind. If the spar is flexible, but the surface isn't, the wings would destroy themselves on takeoff as the bending spar tears apart the wing surface. For reference of how much they can bend, the B787's wings deflect upwards by up to 26 feet at maximum load. The higher deflection at the wingtip happens for essentially the reason described, but more precisely, it happens due to the higher ratio of lift to strength as compared to the wing root, not higher absolute lift.

I find the irony hilarious!
I feel that he forfeits ownership of the art when he paints on someone else's property.
If he had consent from the property owner, then he could claim ownership of the piece.
If I was him, I'd cover the wall. Don't know how but I imagine some type of glass that makes it blurry when you want it to. If anyone wants to take a pic, I'll unravel the artwork and maybe make 'em pay a few bucks.

I know it's dumb how people would pay for such a thing but considering how stupid people are, I'd probably earn a lot in the long run. Make it some kind of tourist attraction. You gotta earn some way or another.

Weird flex, but ok.
Lol jk.
That's pretty cool.
I know there’s a lot more to it, but the simple explanation that an engineering process is basically building something and trying to break it makes me wish I had gone into engineering.
Safety rating of 5. Does that mean, can lift 5 times, the rated load?

They dig a burrow about 5 inches (13 cm) or so deep then cover the entrance with a little door made from tightly wound silk. They use their burrow as both a place to live and a way to catch prey. They sit and peek out the door and pounce on an unsuspecting bug who was unfortunate enough to happen by then pull them back into their burrow.
I love it 🥰

That’s dumb af
When an airplane takes off, due to the wing shape, the ends of the winds experience more lift compared to their wider areas which are closer to the body of the plane, bending the wing tips upward. So they make it flexible so that the plane doesn't snap during takeoff.
This isn't that much of an issue with a smaller plane like cessna since the body of the plane isn't nearly as heavy.
Oh!! Thanks for the explanation!!!
Thanks for the info
Smartass
Source? I don't think that's true
You post some great stuff. Subbed!
